The metamorphosis is complete! 3D PAPERCRAFT BUTTERFLIES AND MOTHS has spread its wings beyond my studio and is now out in the world with you all!

Thank you SO MUCH to everyone that has enjoyed my work in paper curio making, wanted to learn, preordered this book, and are getting it now! Paper craft has been a great avenue for me to connect with my love of the wild world, and I’m so happy to share this creative outlet with you all!

An enormous thank you to the fine folks of @pagestreetpublishing as well — I couldn’t have imagined a better, more supportive team to work with on this, from navigating the limitations of my chronic illness, to being my guide back into the technical and editorial requirements of the publishing world, to the design team so beautifully capturing the Beastie and Bone visual narrative in book form. The whole experience has been fantastic and this end result is one I’m so proud of and happy to share with the world!

After my visit to an osteology collection yesterday that deeply moved me and will inform my work moving forward, it was only fitting I unveil this new design (and future paper original) from the upcoming Autumn 2026 Collection.

DO NOT LET THE HORRORS TRANSFIX YOU is a reminder to never fully block out what is wrong with the world, but neither should you let them fill your whole sight with incoming-headlight horror. Remember to see the beauty, too, the helpers, the wild things, the acts of kindness, all the things we resist the horrors for, and let yourself treasure and enjoy them. Fear-frozen you cannot help anybody, let alone yourself.

Prints and original to be released, stay tuned, but the merch version of this design is available now in my Bonfire store!

It’s National Fossil Day! The National Parks Service @nationalparkservice created Fossil Day seventeen years ago to celebrate the wonders of North American paleontology and all we can learn from the past of our continent, and to celebrate, here is a little something from me to you, good on any and all of my paleoart prints featuring fossils! From the curio flatlay with all the little fossilized flora and fauna to the big Appalachiosaurus skull print and the miniprint bundles, I’ve got all kinds and species of paleontology represented for your spaces.

Sequestered In Bloom is back after being on display in this year’s Western Visions show at the National Museum of Wildlife Art last month (@wildlifeartjh ) and I’m so happy to have this piece and all it represents in my studio until it finds its forever home with one of you.

The Hagerman horse fossils are indeed famously radioactive (at least the ones found in Hagerman, Idaho). The natural composition of the sediments there has a radioactive component, and over time these were packed into the remains of prehistoric species until they became radioactive to such a degree that paleontologists require protective gear to handle them!

What’s so found in Idaho, today, though, is the native sunflower. Sunflowers confuse elements of radioactive materials for compounds they need to thrive, and so naturally draw them up out of soil and sequester it safely away in their stems and leaves. They are even used in areas of radioactive disasters to aid in cleanup projects. So, how beautiful is it that a place of great decay — boneyards and radioactive elements alike — also naturally comes to have these protective, beautiful blooms?

IT’S HERE! 🦬🧡

Shining like the late-afternoon sun on autumnal foliage, this third installment of the Beastie and Bone Collector’s Edition foil prints stars the imposing skull of the megafauna Bison antiquus, crowned by a wreath of milkweed and surrounded by a court of monarch butterflies against a variant-exclusive sky-blue background.

I am so proud of this latest installment of my North American Megafauna Project, which pairs extinct species from regions of the continent with modern-day ones that are either endangered or under-appreciated. Bison today are nowhere near the population they once had before European colonization and culling in America (which recognized the bison as a key species in the Great Plains both ecologically, and culturally and crucially for the Native people groups who call this region their home). Monarchs and milkweed too have in more recent history seen steep declines in population due to loss of habitat, pollution, and damaging extractive businesses that harm both the people and the creatures living across the midlands of the US. Ad i always say with my North American Megafauna Project: Learn from the past, protect what will be!

Final day of @knoxsmallpressfest Publisher’s Fair! I’ll be here at the Emporium center in Knoxville with a whole bunch of other creatives of handmade, hand-pressed, indie-bound goods, with ALL my linocuts!

This will be my last big hoorah with my linocut work (though I’ll still carry remaining stock in my online shop and bring it to future events while I have it) because I am coming to terms with linocut being too painful for me to continue to create with regularly.

I REALLY love this tactile, shape-based medium. But my joints do not love creating it, despite my attempts to make it easier. So it’s goodbye for now, and come down to the Emporium Center today to help me make the goodbye a good one!

I speak from experience: cozying up with your favorite art supplies to color in and create your own paper curio collection is, indeed, an excellent cool, rainy weather activity. Bonus points if you include wearing your slippers and have a hot drink (cider is my person favorite if it’s too late for black coffee).

Dakota Fever Dream

We passed the badlands around 3am, heatwave still on our heels. Opalescent halo around the moon, scent of sun-dry grass below. Starshine and eyeshine mirrored each other, and somewhere between the two was us.

New print coming soon in my Fall 2026 collection inspired by the Great American Plains, paleontology, and long nights. Been a nice trip down memory lane of roadtrips and my childhood roaming around and trespassing in the Midwest, keeping me entertained while I’ve been bed/housebound a lot lately due to some flare ups. Very excited to share all this new art with you all soon!

Been looking through these older works for the B+B Patreon/Happy Mail Club a lot lately as I'm both drawing encouragement and inspiration for new work and where I want to focus B+B in the new year, AND assembling these miniprints and stickers into colelctable mystery bundles for you all! Paper specimens, taxidermy, and fossils couldn’t be more ethical to collect when they’re entirely handmade by a real human - me, OR you, if you enjoy DIY kits or books!

This is a big reason why I make the art I do. So many species are endangered, rare, or not ethical or legal to own specimens of (bats being a big one for that last category, for example) but we all love them so and would really treasure having them in our collections. But there’s no worries with paper art about whether the wild populations of these critters were harmed in bringing them into a collection!

Paper curio originals available now, as well as my new book, 3D PAPERCRAFT BUTTERFLIES AND MOTHS, and my downloadable, reusable kits! My Fall 2026 collection which will include my now traditional line of Autumn Moth paper originals will be coming in the next month or so, too. Lots of options for the ethically minded specimen collector!
