If you are a native to Maryland high school track and field, you have seen Nick Agoris at a meet. This man did so much for my track and field journey as a young man in high school and also shaped me outside of track as well. We have lost an absolute legend in the throws community that promoted the sport and touched so many lives in a positive way in the state of Maryland and beyond. RIP Coach Agoris ❤️ by @beauthrows

GAMES RECORD!!! 🤩💪🏻

18-year-old Yan Ziyi 🇨🇳 hurled the spear to an incredible throw of 70.46m to win the women’s javelin at the Asian Games in Nagoya.

Only six women have ever thrown over 70m—she’s now achieved this feat twice.

Po daugelio metų jie vėl susitiko ten, kur garsino Lietuvos vardą. Disko metimo sektoriuje. 🇱🇹

@rumeshpathiragee is going to need some new javelins 😭

After a historic year of winning the Diamond League Final and the World Ultimate Championships, Rumesh Pathirage arrived home to discover his javelins broken in travel.

Per Rumesh, “All three javelins I used for over 90m throws have been damaged. It might have been a mistake by the airline (Turkish Airlines), but that’s how it is. It’s not a big issue. I’ll move on."

And these javs ain't cheap. The cost of one of the Nemeth Classic's pictured? $3,350!

LAUNCHED 🚀🚀🚀

@rumeshpathiragee 🇱🇰 caps off his amazing year with a win at the @ultimateathleticschampionship 🏆

Already leading, Rumesh let it rip in the final round sending the spear over the 90m-line to 91.09m capping off one of the greatest javelin seasons ever.

Three meets > 90m, a Diamond League Final win and now an Ultimate Championships win. Just incredible stuff from the 23-year-old Sri Lankan.

@giantbaby_paru🇯🇵 comes from behind to win the @ultimateathleticschampionship in record fashion | 68.92m Javelin NR 🔥🔥🔥

It looked like another dominating win for China's phenom Ziyi Yan🇨🇳 as she opened with a 68.05m toss, but Haruka Kitaguchi had other plans.

The reigning Olympic champ unleashed a massive 68.92m throw in r2 setting a PB and new national record.

Ziyi did not improve on her opener and retired after the second round due to an apparent injury.

Kitaguchi's new PB moves her in a tie for 10th all-time in the women's javelin.

A PB and $150,000...not a bad way to end the season Haruka 🫡

@hummelmerlin🇩🇪 wins the $150,000 top prize at the inaugural @ultimateathleticschampionship💰

The hammer world silver-medalist threw 81.46m in the first round that ended up being the top throw in the comp, which featured only four rounds of throws.

Not everyone excelled in the four-round "Ultimate" format. Olympic and World Champ Ethan Katzberg fouled his first two attempts that eliminated him from the field where only the top six advance to the third round.

Bence Halász🇭🇺 wins silver in his home stadium (80.30m) and Mykhaylo Kokhan🇺🇦 takes third (78.90m).

Only three throwing events to be featured at the inaugural @ultimateathleticschampionship, kicking off tomorrow in Budapest, Hungary 🇭🇺

28 Total Events

16/20 Track Events (not including 2 relays)

7/8 Jump Events

3/8 Throws Events

As a throws fan, this is obviously disappointing. We have the greatest generation of throwers ever being sidelined in a marquee event where first-place prize money is $150,000.

The throws certainly need more representation in the decision making of World Athletics, but we can continue to push the sport forward. This era of throwers is rewriting history with or without an Ultimate Championship.
