I have been on a long journey of self-discovery and identity as a daughter of God. Through healing and working on my relationship with Jesus, I have stepped forward, embracing my identity and reclaiming who I am meant to be. When I first began writing for the public, I was still in despair and hopelessness. Against All Hope, the title of my blog, captured my fight to hang on to that thread of hope, that tiny flicker of a flame that would continue to burn through all my suffering and helpless situations. I refused to give up on hope, no matter how much life threw at me. Hope was my lifeline. Hope encouraged me to keep taking that next step forward, to get up each time I fell, and most of all, hope led me to continue to have faith even in the pitch-black darkness that I would regularly find myself in. I wanted to share my writing to pass that hope on to others who are suffering. But as the years continued by and I continued to struggle, constantly circling the drain, my anxiety went through the roof, and I became self-conscious and even paranoid. I decided to take down my blog and stop submitting articles for publication. I was frozen in so much fear and paranoia. Since then, I have been working on much healing, and the Lord brought me to a place where I found love, support, and guidance. He has surrounded me with a community of people who consistently reach for my hand, encouraging me to take the next step and confidently embrace who I am. Who am I? I am the beloved daughter of the almighty king. He has crowned me with strength and dignity. My name, Allison, means kind, truthful, and noble. Through my identity, He has set me apart and has given me a mission. My mission is in my name, to be kind, to be truthful, and to be noble. To embrace my identity through Jesus is to embrace my mission and the gifts He has bestowed upon me so that I may carry out my mission of building up the kingdom of God. “Every rose I see reminds me of your example, and every flower reminds me that the Lord sees us all — from the roses to the wildflowers, He is constantly drawn to our simplicity, reaching down even to the smallest of them all.“ ~ Allison Brown #becauseiamhis #stthereseoflisieux #catholic #journeyoffaith #catholicsaints https://www.catholicmom.com/articles/a-letter-to-saint-th%C3%A9r%C3%A8se-of-lisieux by @because_i_am_his
On the feast of Saint Thérèse, Allison Brown shares a heartfelt letter, reflecting on her lifelong devotion to this beloved saint. Thérèse, you have taught me that acts of love can be shown in the quietest, simplest ways, and that these simple acts make the deepest impact on the heart. Most of all, you are teaching me how to love our Lord, and that the Lord isn’t wanting any grand gestures from me but for me to give Him my whole heart, surrendering all to him. You understand the deep turmoil that emotions, anxiety, and depression can cause, and the suffering of physical illness. But you also understand that the Lord can transcend all of that if it is His will. I know the Lord is asking me to surrender in my suffering. Thérèse, your little ways have paved a path for those seeking Christ. This path is paved with the simple acts of love. You have shown me that, through love, we can reach out to others and bring them closer to Christ. #becauseiamhis #stthereseoflisieux #catholic #journeyoffaith #catholicsaints https://www.catholicmom.com/articles/a-letter-to-saint-th%C3%A9r%C3%A8se-of-lisieux by @because_i_am_his

My son has always seemed able to grasp the concept of faith, despite his autism diagnosis and developmental delays. He readily embraced his understanding of who Jesus is and how loved he is by God. As I witnessed our child grow in faith, I slowly began preparing him for his first Reconciliation. I knew the preparation for our son would look different. He would not be able to complete the workbook usually required for children making their sacraments. I also knew this preparation would be at a slower pace over a longer period. I started about one to two years in advance and decided to keep it very simple, teaching him through real-life situations and examples, with lots of repetition and gentle reminders. I wanted him to develop a holy habit so it would become second nature. The day finally came, and my husband and I arrived at the church. We met our priest outside the church courtyard, where he was hearing confessions that day. The priest called our son over, and he approached nervously. I watched from afar and saw him listening and nodding. Our son walked back over to me, beaming with pride. He followed me into the church, where my son and I sat down together and had a quiet conversation about how special today is and how happy Jesus is! The graces poured out upon our son were evident. God blessed him in such a special way, and it was a perfect witness to how God can work through all of us and that our barriers are not His. My child’s disability didn’t prevent God from working through and overcoming the barriers associated with Autism. Instead, God saw a child who was willing to give his wholehearted yes to the Lord and to turn up despite his limitations. What a powerful witness that is to all of us! Our limitations are not God’s limitations. In fact, our limitations give us more opportunities to surrender to the Lord with trust and faith. Every year on the Feast of St. Mary Magdalene, my heart is drawn back to the feet of Jesus. Mary Magdalene’s witness has taught me that I don’t need to hide behind perfection. I can come to Christ exactly as I am—with my wounds, fears, hopes, and joys—and discover that His merciful love is greater than anything I carry. In this letter, I reflect on how her example has shaped my own journey of healing, trust, and learning to remain at the Lord’s feet, even in the silence. ✨ Read the full article through the link in my bio. Happy Feast Day, St. Mary Magdalene—pray for us. ❤️ #StMaryMagdalene #CatholicFaith #CatholicWriter #HealingInChrist #becauseiamhis by @because_i_am_his

My spirit is rejoicing in God my Saviour, for He has done great things for me. Me. He has done great things for me.' 🤍 by @because_i_am_his

“The Bible tells us that God had knit us in our mother’s womb, and He knew us before we were born…God acknowledged the lives of my unborn children, even if society didn’t.” Read “Remembering My Unborn Children” in our May issue. by @because_i_am_his
“How many children do you have?” I pause, hesitating to answer the question and quietly debating my answer. I am a proud mother of 14 children, including my heavenly babies. Our eight children here with us on this earth have grown up aware they have siblings in heaven. While there was always a period of sadness and grief after each loss, the children were always open to accepting that their baby sibling was now a saint in heaven, praying for us and waiting to meet us one day. What made the grieving process hard for me as the mother was that the subject was still taboo in today’s society. I felt I had to hide my grief from most people. The grief I had been experiencing was deep, and in a sense, I’d felt trapped within it, unable to find closure. There was no funeral or gravestone to visit. There was no mourning period and acknowledgment by extended family: no flowers or cooked meals delivered to the door. No one could visibly see my loss, as I was the only one who truly felt and experienced the new life that once was in my womb. No one else personally knew the little person whom I held close to my heart. No one else had a relationship with this precious little one. No one other than my husband and children felt the loss of our babies. As much as this new life was invisible to the naked eye (as I was in my first trimester), so was the loss. The world around me continued to go on without my baby while my heart was crumbling as I tried to grasp why God would allow this. https://thosewhomournmag.com/remembering-my-unborn-children/ #catholic #grief #pregnancyloss #miscarriages #thosewhomournemagazine by @because_i_am_his
Everything came to a sudden halt, and I found myself in a place I never expected to be. Plans were cancelled, and I became completely reliant on the people around me. As I battled physical pain, I was also facing a battle within. I didn’t ask for this. I felt frustrated. Fed up. But deep down, I knew I needed to let go— and learn to trust. To entrust my care to my family, my doctors, and God. Surrender didn’t come easily. It felt like I was losing so much. But in the solitude, I realised I wasn’t losing anything. God was healing deeper— restoring and transforming what was already there. What felt like everything being taken away was actually the beginning of something deeper. A transformation. It’s still hard. Most days are up and down. But I am learning to embrace surrender as it leads me into wholeness… and into holiness. ✨ What has God revealed to you in your current season? #becauseiamhis #journeyoffaith #catholic #catholiclife #catholicwoman by @because_i_am_his
