An archive of self portrait studies from a brief season ten-ish years ago.

Maybe it’s time for another. I was exploring my creative voice and parenting my two little kids. Now my kids are young adults and I’m on the cusp of entering a new season of life and yearning for a different form of creative expression.

I love how a self portrait can be a record and a study of self—more than just a physical rendering—they’re an emotional relic. by @beccadayart

What I made today. I can’t seem to get away from abstraction because it’s been my primary visual language for over ten years. This one stared out as a birdhouse with a nest on top and ended up like this. 😆But I’m good with it as long as it looks like a wild windy nature scene. 💨 by @beccadayart

Windows and doors and hopes. Mixed media collage painting that has been a “warm up” canvas in my studio and I liked how it turned out today. 💛 I love an abstract that looks structural. 🏠 by @beccadayart

Happy Shirley Jackson Haunting of Hill House and other creepy stories month! My art project last year of a few classic gothic authors was a top favorite project in the last few years. I still have the original Shirley Jackson painting left if any fans are here! I also have prints of Charlotte Brontë, Oscar Wilde and the original of Emily Brontë! DM for details! by @beccadayart

My first time participating in the @manitoumonsterproject !! This project pairs local adult artists with kindergartners at Manitou Elementary school. The artists interprets their student’s monster and they exhibit everyone’s work on October’s First Friday! I think there are around 50 artist/student paired artworks! Stop by if you’d like! 5-7 PM at Manitou Elementary school! by @beccadayart

These three paintings are at the @auricgallery curated Farm & Art Market @greenboxarts in Green Mountain Falls today! That place is the best little mini getaway.

1. Sunrise Harvest, acrylic on canvas. She’s bold and sassy in her asymmetrical color value and composition. It’s like the sun rising, illuminating part the land, while others stay in shadow.

2. Up Through the Pass, oil on canvas. The movement in this one reminds me of driving in the mountains. Maybe up the pass to Green Mountain Falls!

3. Verdant Wilding, oil on panel. Greens coming together with palette knife swipes and visible brush strokes in a cacophony of texture and color. by @beccadayart

It was jacket weather tonight and I didn’t bring a jacket but I did bring an umbrella. @shannonmelloarts in extra large scale in the cloudy weather was glorious. 🌧️ Also if you’ve never done the @greenboxarts Sky Space experience—DO IT. by @beccadayart

@lfsrockymountainsco put on a great fundraising gala last night at the Olympic & Paralympic Museum last night! LFS does good and much needed work for refugees who settle in our city so it was fun to be with friends to help raise money and also get up to some shenanigans in dress clothes. My latent competitive side comes out in a silent auction. I won what I wanted. 🥇 by @beccadayart

Watercolor as a medium is wooing me big time. I’m loving re-learning the basics in a class taught by @mjbriggs2022 in addition to painting whatever feels inspiring in the moment—like a Twin Peaks moment and tiny daily practice paintings. Letting myself be a beginner again feels vulnerable but so right. by @beccadayart

Recent lunch break painting…

I feel all over the place in my brain with what I want to do with painting. The only solution is to keep putting paint on things. The experimentation persists. 🚧 by @beccadayart
