Lost Lambs is a wildly original take on a dysfunctional family novel. It’s dark, sharp, and hilariously bizarre. Featuring open marriages, corrupt billionaires, and an obsessed teen who’s determined to unveil a conspiracy... I chose this intentionally kitsch toy lamb for the cover because it initially evokes a sense of childlike wonder and innocence, but simultaneously there’s something quietly eerie about it too, with its fixed, knowing stare that suggests it sees more than it should. 🐑 Publishing with Doubleday in February 26 taken in Penguin Random House London by @becikelly

𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐈𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 🧪 Where to even start with this extraordinary book? Put simply: it is unforgettable. Swipe along for this @waterstones exclusive package that I’ve designed, complete with periodic table inspired spredges and endpapers! Set in the backdrop of 1960’s, when women were still fighting for basic rights, we meet the fearless and unapologetic Elizabeth Zott. She refuses to accept the idea that all a woman can amount to is to be a stay-at-home housewife. So when her dream of being a scientist is taken away from her, and a new opportunity arises to be the star host of a cookery show, she decides to disrupt the status quo, teach the science behind cooking, and in doing so inspires a nation of women to strive for more. There’s also a dog called 6:30 - genius! Praised by iconic names such as Nigella Lawson, Elizabeth Day and Pandora Sykes. And on top of all the ever growing hype and love for this book, Apple TV have have bought the rights to the adaptation which will star Brie Larson! I can’t wait to see how they translate this multifaceted and magnificent story to screen. If you read one thing in 2022, make sure it’s this. #LessonsInChemistry #coverdesign #bookcoverdesign #bookcoverdesigners #bookcover #coverdesigner #coverdesigner #bookstagram #instabook #instabooks #shedesignsbooks #graphicdesigner taken in Penguin Random House London by @becikelly

Where are the kings by the fabulous Donal Ryan, whose writing I have been a long time admirer of, and so what a joy it was working on the cover of this delicate, painful yet simultaneously joyful coming of age novel. Brilliant photography by Havilah Galaxy by @becikelly

The Garden 🥀 I’m thrilled to share my cover design for this eerie, twisty tale of two sisters confined to their own world, tending to an isolated garden with an obsession that blurs the lines between reality and ritual. In this jacket art, I wanted to convey the feeling that the women are intrinsically as much a part of the garden as the garden is of them; caught in a hypnotic cycle where the garden becomes both a sanctuary and a prison. . . . #bookcover #bookcoverdesign #bookcoverdesigner #bookcoverart #coverdesign #design #moderngothic taken in Penguin Random House London by @becikelly

A novel that certainly won’t disappoint! Nicola Dinan (again) masterfully explores so many complex aspects of the human experience. When I discovered this artwork by Matthew Larson, I was compelled by how on edge it made me feel, and how fragile and tense it looked. Delicate and on the verge of popping, the balloon acts as a symbol of the precariousness and impending damage of maintaining a facade of living up to others’ expectations while silently carrying the weight of their own truths. As Max and Vincent navigate love, identity, and the ghosts of their pasts, their story challenges you to confront your own notions of happiness, vulnerability, and authenticity. #bookcover #bookcoverdesign #nicoladinan #bookstagram #booktok #bookcoverdesigner #design taken in Penguin Random House London by @becikelly

Designing for literary royalty, Rachel Joyce, was an absolute pleasure, albeit daunting! This new novel from her is like nothing she’s written before. It is complex, atmospheric, suspenseful and explores the bonds and fractures within families and sibling relationships. A powerful, stern Father and renowned artist, has recently remarried a much younger woman and moved to Italy to complete his final masterpiece. But now, he’s dead. And when son ‘Goose’ and his sisters reunite at their family home on Lake Orta, they find their new stepmother and his final painting missing and become suspicious. As secrets about their family emerge, the once-close siblings are driven apart... #bookcover #bookcoverdesign #bookcoverdesigner #bookcoverdesigns #bookcovers #bookcoverart #racheljoyce #literaryfiction #design #designer #designers taken in Penguin Random House London by @becikelly
