This is my birth story. If your birth didn’t turnout the way you expected I’m sending you love🤍 birth/labour is unique to everyone. Listening to other people’s stories is what helped me find peace in birth, and actually get excited about it. I hope this does the same for someone. 🤍🙏

Forgot to mention I was eating dates and drinking raspberry leaf tea like a mad woman 😂

I’m so beyond excited to finally check this one off my bucket list!

We started training almost a year ago with @blakehattsc . At that point, I hadn’t really been running or training like this… honestly, ever. My focus had always been on strict, heavy lifting and mostly for aesthetic reasons.

But training like an athlete, to be strong, capable, and well-rounded is a whole different kind of rewarding.

What made it even more special was doing it as a girl gang. 🩷

And having the best partner in the world @jennylaviolette who dealt with all my ups and downs through training (and especially this week). Even when my health wasn’t at its best, she was patient, kind, and kept reminding me that it’s not about the time on our first race it’s about finishing strong, together. I LOVE YOU. ❤️

YOUR REMINDER:
Challenge yourself. Try something new.
Take “I can’t” out of your vocabulary.
Get out there and work.
Don’t waste your life without even finding out what you’re capable of.

7 things I did that I believe helped me have a 9-hour unmedicated labour + 40 minutes of pushing

1. Stayed active throughout pregnancy
I kept strength training and moving my body as much as I comfortably could. I even created a workout guide for pregnancy🤍🥰 link is in my bio
2. Did pelvic floor + connection breathing
I practiced connecting my breath to my pelvic floor instead of only focusing on “strengthening” it. EVERY SINGLE MORNING!
3. Worked on hip + pelvic mobility
I consistently did stretches and movements to keep my hips, pelvis and surrounding muscles mobile.
4. Practiced relaxing my pelvic floor
Birth isn’t just about being strong, I practiced actually letting go and relaxing instead of constantly holding tension.
5. Learned how to breathe through contractions
When labour started, I focused on slow, controlled breathing instead of fighting each contraction.
6. Changed positions + moved during labour
I listened to my body, moved around and used different positions instead of feeling like I had to stay in one position.
7. Prepared mentally for an unmedicated birth
I went into labour knowing it would be intense, but I practiced staying calm, trusting my body and taking it one contraction at a time.

Lots of prayer! 🤍

My labour was about 9 hours from start to finish, and I pushed for 40 minutes.

Obviously every birth is SO different and there are no guarantees but these are the things I personally did throughout pregnancy that I feel helped prepare my body and mind for birth. 🤍 by @becky_wellness
