365 DAYS AGO I packed my car up with my 2 fur babies and started the venture across Canada from Nova to Alberta with no ultimate plan or mega goal. I told my close friends: I’ll coach tumbling privatley and if I need to… I’ll get a job at gay bar [which was truly more of a joke] 🤣

Was it scary, abso-f*cking-lutely… but am I soo proud I made it a full year away from home, hell yeah!

I lived in Calgary initially, but moved to Airdrie 2 months in as the place I rented was sold. Coached privately and 3 teams till the new year when life became ‘alot’ and I decided to take a break from coaching. I remained doing all-star cheer, and placed 5th in the world at The Cheerleading Worlds in April with my team. I’m glad I pushed myself and continued being an athlete because I have made some of the greatest of friends and it makes me proud I didn’t quit when life got tough.

My joke to my friends became a reality when I actually did get a job bartending at a gay night club in Calgary a month in [initially as a side hustle] and then another bartending job at a local lgbtq+ tavern. The tavern opened the door to playing in a recreational lgbtq softball legue, which gave me something different than cheer. 🌈🥎

My life has always been consumed by coaching kids and doing cheer- This year of adventure with my jobs and softball almost felt like coming out of the closet again at 31 (15 years later) and really entering a world of being around queer people, which has been an exciting change. And I’ve made a ton of friends since doing softball and working in the hospitality industry again. 🙂

After working for myself all my 20’s I was ready for change and I did exactly what I would have preached to my athletes, don’t let fear stop you.

I was never running from NS, simply pursuing change, a journey and connection with new people, and maybe a little adult life with my sisters.

Will I ever move back home? I’ve spent all summer asking myself that because I truly enjoy both places, but part of this chapter has been enjoying the unknown and living in the moment. ✨

Cheers to the adventure 😘🥂

Deep breaths, honey.

Life is moving, and it’s moving fast. It’ll give you every reason to believe you have to keep up with it. Don’t.

Listen to your body. Listen to your heart. Listen to your mind. Slow down. That’s what I’ve been learning to do.

For a long time, I thought doing more made me more lovable. More worthy. More enough.

But all it really gave me was exhaustion. Less presence. A constantly overstimulated nervous system. I was checking things off my list while quietly checking out of my own life.

This year, I’m choosing intention over urgency.

Less rushing. More noticing.
Less proving. More living.
Less “what’s next?” and more “I’m here.”

I want to take care of myself so I can show up fully for the people I love, the work I care about, and the life I’m building.

Maybe slowing down isn’t falling behind.
Maybe it’s finally arriving.

Before I knew who I’d marry, I knew I’d be standing beside them.

It’s funny how life works.

I spent years wondering who I’d end up with, but somehow, long before I had that answer, life had already given me the women who would carry me through every season until I got there.

They’ve celebrated my highs, held me through my lows, believed in me when I couldn’t believe in myself, and loved every version of me along the way.

They were there before the ring.
Before the wedding plans.
Before I even knew his name.

So asking them to be my bridesmaids wasn’t really asking them to stand beside me…

It was thanking them for already standing beside me all these years.

I love you more than words could ever say. Thank you for helping shape the woman who gets to marry the love of her life. 🤍

Lately, I’ve spent less time in the gym than I have in years.

At first, that really messed with me.

I think I tied so much of who I was to being “the gym girl” that when I couldn’t show up the way I always had, I started questioning if I was somehow a lesser version of myself.

Then Ty and I had one of those conversations that quietly changes the way you see things.

Taking care of yourself isn’t always a workout.

Sometimes it’s making yourself a nourishing meal. Going for a walk because it feels good, not because your watch told you to. Letting your body rest without trying to earn it. Spending time with people who make you feel like yourself. Choosing the slower option, even when everything around you tells you to keep pushing.

I always say people go through seasons too.

Right now, my season is recovery. Healing my hip. Calming my nervous system. Letting go of the idea that growth only happens when I’m doing more.

Maybe this season won’t make me “stronger” in the way I expected.

Maybe it’s teaching me there’s more than one way to take care of myself.

And I think that’s a version of strength too. 🤍

Busy being a girl ✨

This week has been so amazing. I’ve spent so much time with the people I love, I’ve spent so much time in the garden and have been taking life a little slower. All I know is I’ve been focused on slowing down enough so see all the beauty around me. One thing is for sure… my grass is green. Idk if others are greener but I’m also not worried about it.

Sending you all my love and joy this week and every week! 💛✨

straight to the source cuz local grass-fed beef >>>

dc: MEATLYNN for $$ off

Visiting a working farm was always on my bucket list.

Finally got the opportunity to make the trip to Thurso, Quebec with @ottawavalleymeats to see where their local grass-fed beef actually comes from🥩🌾

The tour of @bryleefarms answered a ton of questions I’ve had from the pastures to the farming practices. I really appreciated the BTS of the care that goes into raising great beef.

Big thanks to @ottawavalleymeats for the invite! That tomahawk was a 10/10 & shoutout to @meatings for the unreal brisket 🤤
