“But you’re always smiling”👀⬇️

I am no stranger to anxiety and depression. As a matter of fact, they transformed me.

For me, this fundraiser is personal. I had never felt hopeless in my life…I had never felt like there was no point in living. But around the wrong people, in the wrong environment…I got there. It was a scary time and one I’m so grateful to have overcome it with the help of loved ones, family and my therapist. I am grateful every day for the courage and strength it took to leave a hurtful environment and to find myself again.

Today I’m asking you to consider donating to my cause. I ran the numbers and it looks to me that I just need 45 people to donate $10 to raise the goal amount. Let’s make an impact in our corner of the world. Mental health is real and it’s important we talk about it more and support it when we can. Mental health is a silent crisis and genuinely impacts more people than we think. And just because someone seems happy doesn’t mean they’re not struggling. Check in on those you love. Ask them how they’re feeling. And most importantly? Be kind.

Yup. 2 years. I mean, unless you count the time I accidentally took a swig of @sdephh’s “Gatorade” in Vegas. 😭😭😭 I THOUGHT IT WAS BLUE GATORADE, OK?

But yes, two years and honestly it’s been great! I still can get cute drinks and “fit in” and feel great after. I love it. Also, talk about the COURAGE it gives you. Genuinely. There was a point in my life where i said “I’m gonna need a drink before I do X.”
Now? I do it RAW. Whatever X is is typically scary and requires me to be uncomfortable and I can’t think of a more badass way to overcome myself than by sitting in the discomfort, fully as myself.

I have really great friends who understand my reason to not drink and they embrace it and love me for it. I’m grateful for that as I have experienced the opposite in the past. It is hard to hear that the only commonality you may have had with someone was simply, alcohol.

To those who thought you’d need to earn it⬇️

Recently I felt that i didn’t deserve love. I felt undeserving of even taking a step towards it because I thought: What great thing have you done to even deserve it, Veronica?

I said that to myself. I actually almost let it hold me back from going after what I wanted. “What an awful thought,” I said to myself later.

But it’s how I felt in the moment. When I dug deeper I understood it came from a place of inadequacy. When you grow up being praised for doing things that others wanted you to do…when people asked you “what have you done to deserve X,” it began to shape a narrative in my mind.

“You’re only worthy of love when you do something worthy of love.”

That is untrue. Your pure and utter existence is deserving. Why? Because look at you. You are beautiful in every human way. You can excel at something and do poorly in another and deserve love. You can excel at one thing and excel at another and be worthy of love. You can mess everything up and still be worthy.

You deserve love, always and I challenge you to believe it even when you don’t feel it is true. by @becoming___v
