POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
This weekend, I had the privilege of attending the National Association for Black Veterinarians (NABV) Conference, and I left feeling more motivated than ever to continue pursuing my dream of becoming a veterinarian.

Being surrounded by Black veterinarians, veterinary students, veterinary specialists, educators, and future colleagues was both inspiring and humbling. Every conversation reminded me that there is no linear path into this professionโ€”we all have different stories, but the same passion for serving animals and advancing veterinary medicine.

One of the best parts of the conference was the lasting connections and new friendships I made. Meeting people who look like me who also share the same goals, encourage one another, and genuinely want to see each other succeed reminded me that this profession is built on community as much as it is on medicine.

I also attended sessions on financial planning, how to deal w/ vet school debt, practice ownership, well being within the profession, and preparing for veterinary school, all of which gave me valuable insight.

Most importantly, this conference reaffirmed why representation matters. Thank you to everyone who shared their advice, encouragement, and experiences. Iโ€™m leaving New Orleans with new friendships, meaningful connections, and even more determination to keep chasing my dreams. ๐Ÿฉบ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ–ค by @becomingdrdolittle

โœจ A little life update โœจ

I have been having a ball at my new job! I started at a new 24 hour ECC hospital where we see ALL animals. Exotics ranging from small birds all the way up to goats and baby cows (have no had any of those patients as of yet). The criticalist I have been working with has been amazing at offering me guidance and so much species diversity to add to my experience level. I have also had the pleasure to network with so many other amazing doctors who have given me great insight into this profession and the varied opportunities career wise that this field has to offer.

Recently my own Gecko had to been seen by her when he got a mechanical obstruction ๐Ÿ’†๐Ÿฝโ€โ™‚๏ธ after some warm water soak bathes every 12hour and lactulose q24 heโ€™s back thriving and living his best life

While this VMCAS cycle has ended, I am very optimistic in knowing that God has a plan for me and I have put my trust in him 100%

Good luck to everyone this 2024-2025 VMCAS cycle ๐Ÿฅณ remember you have done all you can at this point, just sit back and let God do his work ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿฝ your time is coming! taken in Veterinary Emergency & Specialty of Tidewater by @becomingdrdolittle
