Today, I’ve been thinking and working on We Live Like. I thought I would spend a lot more time writing and creating when I have been here. But the creative spirit sometimes must be dormant before it erupts. It has been a few weeks of reflection, contemplation, reflection and gratitude. I’ll post about my trip and adventures another day. I’m so grateful to have met so many people and experienced such wonderful days and moments. Thank you. But for now…. As I reflect on why I have created We Live Like in the first place, I know it’s truth and purpose is stronger than ever. I feel it in my bones, my soul and as I look all around me. And so, I expect you will hear more from me on this. But for now, deepest gratitude and love for those that have literally been with me as the ‘eruption’ of We Live Like has spilled out…. In various ways, at various moments. Creativity can be messy. But wonderful. And fabulous. And freeing. Those people that have believed in me and championed what I believe in, thank you. From the bottom of my idealistic and romantic - but deeply loving and loyal - heart. I love you. This is only the beginning. The cheerleading got me this far. Funnily enough, We Live Like tells me, today, I’m in Light status… so beyond flow, in ultimate balance. That’s what a residency in Toscana will do for anyone. Sending love, growth and light to you all. 💛⚡️

Hogmanay Celebrations 2025. And an early start for Fire Season 2026. Up Helly Aa (Lerwick) is less than a month away. Our annual Torchlight outing was a tremendous treat last night and a filler of the soul cup. There is nothing quite like getting a gaggle of Shetlanders - and very welcomed guests - together, dressed in our Viking gear. We carry fire. We sing. We dance. We laugh. There really is nothing like it. Our sense of humour, conversational flow and perspective on the world. We are, really, a very jolly bunch of folk. And, as always, it’s wonderful to see wir peerie folk, all rigged up too, wi peerie axes and suits. Last night had a particular energy to it - after last year’s cancellation only 15 minutes before we were due to walk. The exuberance was palpable - by Vikings and by the crowd. It’s always slightly bonkers for people that don’t know it to walk into it all. Which makes it all the more entertaining. A privilege and and absolute joy. Three cheers for Up Helly Aa. Hip hip: hooray. Hip hip: hooray. Hip hip: hooray. 🔥 🪓 🐦‍⬛ 🐉

Being from Shetland and being part of our Shetland community is pretty special. We don’t take it for granted: our unique approach in our celebrations, culture, compassion and community are distinct and individual. There is nowhere quite like it. And there is nowhere else in the world who has people quite like Shetlanders. The combination of a particular sense of humour, personality, attitude and resilience is all ours. We are proud. We love our islands and who we are. The Shetland Society (EDSA) hosted the visiting SMUHA Jarl Squad reception before the (sadly cancelled) Torchlight Procession. We all got dressed up. Viking hair takes way longer than you’d think… 🤣 I took the bus up town. And we all got together. It was a great afternoon and evening. Shame they didn’t let us carry our fire on this occasion. But, in truth, it always burns bright. 🔥💛🙌🏼 Here’s to a bright and warm fire season! It is almost upon us. 🐉 🔥 Scalloway Up Helly Aa kicks it all off at the end of next week. And I’ll be home for Lerwick Up Helly Aa (‘The Big One’) on the last Tuesday in January. 🔥 Meanwhile… we prepare to toast Hogmanay and a year ahead of compassion, gratitude, love and joy. ☀️🙌🏼💛

Here she is. Captain Merry Hook. 4 (28) Years Old. Just like that. Bigger, heavier, fluffier than ever. 10kg of muscle and love. She’s still into mice. But her favourite past time this year is Watching The Pipes and Full Flat Sprinting. 🏃🏻‍♀️ She is feisty, fun, funny, fabulous. She’ll punch your ankle and bitch-slap your face if she doesn’t get her way. The strong right hook just gets stronger. 🥊 But she is the most loving, affectionate, loyal and friendly cat you’ll ever meet. She waits for me at the window. Follows me from room to room. Wails outside the door if you lock her out the bedroom. I’m proud to call her my flat mate and friend, for 3 years and 9 months and counting. Happy birthday Merry Cat, Moo, M-Head, Mez, Pom-Pom, Claw-Face, Captain, Hooky, Tufty Lugs, Merry. You’re the best. 🐱 🥊 🪝 😸👩🏻🧡🙌🏼

Book launch week. 👀😳🤩🤣 Well… it’s a sunny Sunday in the City Of Edinburgh. ☀️ Our book, Awakened Leaders, launches this week. So, by this time next week I’ll be a published author. Cool. And kind of wild. I love writing. Always have. When I got asked to take part… it was a sacral chakra YES (and worry about it later). 😂🧡🙌🏼 It was a real learning experience for me. But one of growth. Which is why we are all here. It was a joy to do it alongside some wonderful women and friendships. Having started to do Morning Pages some time ago, every single day, as part of my mostly consistent morning ritual, I had discovered that words flow out of me, given half a chance. I get a fizz and a crackle of energy when I’m in that flow state. It’s awesome. So… here’s to an exciting and fun week ahead. And let’s hope the sun keeps shining. ☀️🙌🏼🙏🏼🤩 📖

And that was January. 🔥 Too many amazing things to log here. St Remy De Provence. France. Summer 2023. This place makes my soul sing. No wonder Van Gogh did some of his best work here. Soothing, peaceful, calming, glorious. I adore coming here.
