What a treat to write about @maisonrocherparis for @vogueliving, the hybrid home/art space created by @kymellery and @jeremyrocher. Surprisingly, they share it with a two-year-old, a one-year-old and a rescue dog named Milo. Unsurprisingly, the two-year-old went through a phase of trying to sneak his toys inside the @jamesturrell light installation. “So then we went through a phase of only having soft toys, like squishy balls,” says Kym. The NSW Southern Highlands is my happy place, both to visit and write about 🌸 Posted @withregram • @countrystylemag Much like the rest of the home, the bedrooms of Moss Vale accommodation Seymour House are full of personality, quirk and vintage charm.

It's the handywork of the home's new owner, stylist Georgia Ashdown, who was inspired by the life and times of a previous owner. "I've given a nod to the style everyone loves here in the Southern Highlands, which is that provincial farmhouse feel, but my house is contemporary country."

We just spent a magical week staying at @seymour_houseandcabin in the NSW Southern Highlands. Already we’ve booked three more stays for 2023. Pony camp, spring blooms and autumn leaves here we come 🐎 🌸 🍂 (Ps. You don’t have to have your own pony to go to pony camp! I HAD NO IDEA.) Posted @withrepost • @countrystylemag Both rustic and modern, Seymour House in Moss Vale is a highly curated imagining of the life of its famous namesake, businessman Everest Seymour.

An excerpt from my review of @beckettsglebe for Sydney Chic magazine, titled “The French restaurant that makes you feel like a Golden Era film star”:

Descending the sandstone ramp to the underground rooms of Beckett’s restaurant is an experience in itself, like walking through a portal from bustling Glebe Point Road into a glamorous, secret bunker. Incognito from the outside, it immediately feels like a locals-only hidden gem.

“I just want to do good food and booze,” says chef and co-owner, Jeff Schroeter (Bistro Moncur, Bayswater Brasserie). However, more than good food and booze is delivered. Beckett’s heightens its French cuisine and 300-strong wine list with a full sensory experience of touchable velvet furnishings, romantic light and the tinkling of a pianist on a grand piano. Acclaimed playwright Wendy Beckett, co-owner of the restaurant and its namesake, created the interiors with her favourite set designer. “I wanted a moody ode to the great bistros and cocktail bars of early to mid-century Europe,” she says. “It was also important to honour this iconic local building.”

Schroeter’s talent is most prominently on show in his signature steak dish; Wagyu rump with pommes dauphinoise, sautéed mushrooms and Perigueux sauce (last photo). Special mention must also go to his freshly shucked oysters from Merimbula, the gin and beetroot cured salmon and a cinnamon poached pear that emotionally transports me to childhood holidays in my beloved granny’s house.

Schroeter comes to my table to say hello just as my eyes mist with memories over his pear dessert, prompting a wonderful conversation about nostalgia, scent and food. I’ve completely forgotten there’s a city of five million people above me. “It’s like an underground escape down here,” he says. “Always peaceful, always 22 degrees. There could be a heatwave or a snowstorm happening up there and you wouldn’t know.” Guests would be safely cocooned in this elegant film set, feeling like stars from the Golden Era. taken in Chez Beckett's by @becwhish

This is my uncle’s vineyard in McLaren Flat, South Australia, where he makes incredible red wine (that he’s slinging for a steal in a Christmas sale, link in bio).
