A special occasion & a small axe | 🇯🇲🇨🇦 | Pilates instructor in training | Words, radio, TV | Mama | Author of THE BOOK OF POSSIBILITIES (2025) |
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
I've been behind the scenes, making some moves, shooting some shots, helping some folks, saying yes emphatically, saying no definitively, and figuring out how the alchemy of strategy and creativity combined can make life even more beautiful and meaningful.

This book keeps giving me the gift of possibility, even when I thought the biggest example of possibility was simply me being able to write it. And my heart bursts every time readers show support or reach out to tell me what this book means to them.

Individually and collectively, we need to continue to interrogate how possibility presents itself in our lives and what our response is when it shows up. We really do have more power than we give ourselves credit for.

More to come, but for now: thank you ❤️

Today is #WorldBookDay and I have my very own book to add to the artform. Earlier this month I celebrated the release of The Book of Possibilities with people from so many corners of my life, and it was absolutely beautiful. More pics to come but for now, I'm incredibly grateful to everyone who has sent me flowers and heartfelt messages and calls, and I'm honoured every time someone lets me know they've gotten a copy. When I see people tag me in pics of them highlighting and underlining my words, I'm delighted that I have words worthy of being highlighted and underlined. Writing is a form of magic, and I'll never take those gifts for granted.

The Book of Possibilities is an offering to you, to look into the nooks and crannies of your own life and find out where possibility - the opportunity for something different, something new, something better - exists. That is magic too, and this book is a reminder.

More pics and more celebrations to come! by @beequammie

Happy TBOP Day to all who celebrate 🥳

Thank you to @thesocialctv for having me on to launch my book baby out into the world - no place I would have rather been today.

Thank you to the "Quamtourage" who held it down in the audience ❤️

Thank you to everyone who has shared their copies of the book - I'm honoured to know it's already in so many homes and hands, and hopefully it'll end up in your hearts, too.

And for the LOOK - thank you to:

@hairbyglenna for the dope braids - literally everyone stops me to say how beautiful they are
@lucasdrigues for the beat

Ya girl is back on @thesocialctv tomorrow, and I was thrilled to link up with the good people at @vsp.consignment for a style session!

If you're looking for elevated and sustainable fashion, this is where you need to be (and it's @luxurylaw certified)!

VSP's in-house stylist Petra thoughtfully pulled me some beautiful pieces (and recognized me from one of my guest lectures at TMU's Journalism School!) and @megan_theeestylist helped me to mix, match, and refine my top picks.

What's your fave look? Stay tuned to see what I chose tomorrow! by @beequammie

Thank you to @whitbylibrary for having me for their October Author Visit! It was a total delight to chat (animatedly, with lots of hand gestures) about my book, my writing process through blogging/freelance journalism/traditional book publishing, obstacles and triumphs along the way, and of course -- the presence of possibility in our lives.

My take on possibility is that believing in it isn't merely an exercise in toxic positivity, and I'm learning more and more that believing in it is only the first step. How are we taking action in grasping, holding, and actualizing possibility? What can we do or try today that might give us a different outcome tomorrow? These are important questions to ask ourselves and each other anytime, and I was honoured to discuss them with everyone who came through (and bought books!) at the library.

Library folks = the coolest folks ❤️ by @beequammie

Let me introduce you to a cool way that you can read The Book of Possibilities!

Yes, you can start at page 1 and go from there...

...but you can also simply land where you need to.

Enjoy! by @beequammie

There seems to be a never-ending debate online about which is "better": Pilates or weight training.

For me/myself/and I, I know my body thrives with both, because they provide benefits that are both unique to each practice and that support each practice.

Pilates helps me with muscle endurance, understanding the proper use of my core, flexibility, injury management, and control vs. momentum in moving my body. I feel 6 inches taller after each class (not like I need it lol) and I am challenged by the limits of my own body each time I meet the reformer or the mat.

Weight training accelerates my muscle growth and bone density (critical past 40yo), provides cardiovascular support (I always finish a gym session with some cardio too), and affords me a very different challenge through progressive overload.

I have better body awareness (i. e. paying attention to form and where my body is in space), more supportive breathing techniques, and awareness of what muscles are being activated during weight training BECAUSE of Pilates. I can hold those planks longer and use heavier reformer springs BECAUSE of my weight training.

Don't be afraid to try a new fitness modality, stick with one that works, or combine practices to get the results you want. There doesn't have to be one right way -- whatever works best for your body is the way to go. by @beequammie

My Patreon newsletter folks got this info first, but now I'm ready to open it up to y'all!

If you know me, you know I’m a talker, and I love checking in with my people. I could host another podcast and plan/produce/perform a conversation, but right now I just want to *have* conversations – with friends, colleagues, and inspirations.

(And because I very often talk to myself, I'll be doing that too.)

I'm starting a new mini audio project on my Patreon called The Check In, where I'll be doing just that. Quick, easeful chats rooted in the reality of our lives, but aiming to be conversations that generate the tenderness and "you aren't alone"-ness that we need.

If you’d like to be part of The Check In and chat with me about career, creativity, motherhood, childhood memories, your new gardening habit, your plans to run off and join the circus, anything – please fill out the form in my profile links!

Taking a little pause in the day to check in with each other is something we need to do more of, isn’t it? I'm looking forward to doing that with you.

And be sure to sign up for my free newsletter on Patreon at patreon.com/BeeQuammie so you can get goodies like this direct to your inbox, every other week! by @beequammie

By now, you've probably seen or heard of the ad for a new sports betting app called Novig featuring Sydney Sweeney (a spokesperson AND equity partner, mind you) -- she's showing off those "good genes" while not wearing any jeans (or much of anything) as she pretends to engage in a variety of sports to encourage the audience to join Novig.

I got to hop on to @cbcradio's The Current with @mattgallowayto to discuss the ad, the backlash from women athletes, and more.

• Who does this ad (and app) harm?
• If this is "choice feminism," is the juice worth the squeeze if it doesn't move the needle for women as a whole?
• What does it mean to discuss this young, white, conventionally attractive, MAGA-adjacent women in connection to sports when women's leagues are battling against misogyny, racism, homophobia, and transphobia?
• What do we do when faced with the lowest denominator of engagement: rage bait?

Anyways - here's a quick clip, and you can hear the full segment via the link in my bio! by @beequammie

You're probably more capable than the "can'ts" and more skilled than the "shoulds/should nots" and maybe you wanting something different is the most valid reason to chart your own course.

Some random morning thoughts, borne out of frustration with the limitations of life and turning that into personal liberation. Let's make some shit up! by @beequammie
