The Magic of Martha’s Vineyard

Begins in the hush of morning…

Walking miles as the island slowly finds its voice, swimming with the Polar Bears at sunrise, and letting afternoons stretch lazily into porch conversations.

By afternoon, the island finds another rhythm—day parties and cookouts, luncheons and receptions. And if the spirit moves you, evenings spill into concerts and dancing, or simply sitting around a fire pit beneath a sky full of stars.

Somewhere between sunrise and sunset, time seems to loosen its grip.

And 48 hours later, I exhale.

Maybe that’s the magic.

Finding a rhythm somewhere between quiet and celebration, solitude and community, old traditions and new memories—between familiar faces and unexpected souls you somehow know you were meant to meet.

You stand a little taller when you realize you are among your people, in a place where belonging doesn’t have to be explained.

Because it was written here long before we arrived—in the footsteps of those who came before us, claimed their piece of the Rock, and made room for generations to follow.

Maybe that’s why people return year after year…..

Some places you visit; others leave the porch light on.🏮

I’ll definitely be back. Sooner this time rather than Later!

POLAR BEAR PLUNGE 🐻‍❄️

It had been a while since I’d been on the Rock.

Returning meant immersing myself in the traditions that make this island so special—including one that has been greeting the morning for generations.

For 80 years, the Polar Bears have gathered at the Inkwell, wading into the Atlantic to move, sing and begin the day together. Standing in that circle, arms raised, Jacob’s Ladder rising over the water as the sun came up behind us, there was something quietly spiritual about it all.

And perhaps the sweetest part was sharing it with someone who made room for me—not only in this experience, but in her heart as well.

Some traditions you witness.

Others invite you in. ❤️🖤💚

Off the beaten path on the Rock…

On Martha’s Vineyard, the hours seem to loosen their grip. You stop checking the time, let the phone disappear into your bag, and find yourself lingering over conversations, wandering without a plan, and watching the day unfold at its own pace.

That day, the island pulled me west — first to Aquinnah, where the clay cliffs rise above the Atlantic and everything feels a little quieter, a little wilder, and wonderfully far away.

Then on to Menemsha, a tiny working fishing village where lobster traps line the docks, fishing boats still come and go, and one of the island’s simplest traditions may also be one of its best: grab a lobster roll, pull up a lawn chair and stay for the sunset.

But there are other things you carry away from a place — sometimes as simple as a few stones gathered at the water’s edge.

Maybe that’s the luxury of slowing down.

You notice what you might otherwise have walked right past.

Maybe it’s memory. Maybe it’s magic. Maybe it’s the ancient knowing that we were never meant to carry everything alone.

We float. We laugh. We let go.

Wrapped in salt air and sunshine, we follow the rhythm of the tide—soft, wild, and free.

Mermaid energy reminding us to soften, trust the current, and flow…….

Honoring the joy. Releasing what no longer serves us and letting the water carry away what no longer belongs to us.
