I am so excited to share my brand redesign with you…

The past two years have seen me go through a process of refinement. A winnowing down - of what my images are, in not only their look but the feeling they give. A process of answering the question - how can I communicate exactly who I am?

Because two decades as a wedding photographer have given me so much. Expertise, knowledge, and intuition honed over this period had led me to such a place of plenty…

But ‘plenty’ can be overwhelming. An overflow of inspiration had broken down into smaller, diverse rivulets, running away from me - all with their own flow. A flow that wasn’t mine.

These past two years have seen me unite these currents, and bring them back into their own powerful, defined course. A course I set, surging with two decades of experience, rather than scattered by it.

My work holds space; a warm space of quiet luxury. A tranquil, gracious space where we can breathe, and be.

My work needs space to tell its story. A space where empathy and kindness are held at the core, whilst we create the photographs that really speak of your soul - radiant yet refined, emotive, elusive, and elegant.

A genuine reflection of my work and me, the new website feels like home.

I’ve started noticing the same problem across luxury websites.

Too much movement. Too many overlapping images. Too many decorative details asking to be noticed at once.

It’s now possible to animate almost everything.

Every section tries to create its own moment but when every moment is designed to be the moment, the story begins to disappear.

A luxury website should feel curated.

Not every image belongs. Not every idea needs its own section. Not every element needs to move.

Space gives the work presence. Simplicity creates clarity. It allows someone to move through the website slowly, noticing what has been chosen and understanding the world they are being invited into.

Look at the most enduring fashion houses. Their collections evolve, but their visual language remains recognisable. The same restraint. The same rhythm. The same considered details appearing again and again.

Consistency is one of the great hallmarks of luxury design.

This matters even more online. Digital design is modern by nature. Without something to ground it, a website can quickly feel cold, trend-led or overly polished.

Texture, grain, considered typography, print references and a sense of history bring warmth and permanence. They make the experience feel tactile, even through a screen. by @katymellingphotography

Elyana/ Part I

Of Hebrew origin meaning God has answered.

As a variant of Eliana or Eliyanah, it combines “El” (God) and “ana” (answered). by @katymellingphotography

Outgrowing your brand does not always arrive as dissatisfaction.

Sometimes, it appears as clarity.

A clearer sense of the work you want to create. A stronger point of view. A desire to be considered for more meaningful opportunities, or to become known for something more distinct.

The business may already be successful. The work may already be beautiful. But you can feel that another identity is beginning to emerge beneath it.

A new brand is not always about becoming someone different.

Sometimes, it is about giving greater shape, language and visibility to the person and business you have already become.

If your brand is ready to meet the next expression of your work, you can enquire through the form on my website. by @katymellingphotography

A concept that didn’t make it through the initial phases using ethereal botanicals and cyanotype quality.

The print was born from a conversation around gifting wedding planners, a gesture to accompany my client’s printed brochure.

A subtle way of showcasing aesthetic preference and desire for detail. by @katymellingphotography

Nobody ever comes to me at the “perfect” time.

They’re busy.
They’re in an intensely busy season of their business.
They’re moving house.
They’re launching something else.
They’re questioning whether now is sensible.

And yet, the people whose businesses genuinely change after a rebrand all have one thing in common.

They stop asking,

“Is now the right time?”

and start asking,

“Where do I want my business to be six months from now?”

Because a rebrand isn’t something you wake up with.

It isn’t delivered overnight.

It takes time to uncover your identity, create the work, build the website, launch it and allow people to experience it.

The irony is that waiting for the “right time” usually means you’re still in exactly the same place when that imaginary moment arrives.

If you know your business has outgrown its visual identity
If you know your website no longer represents the standard of your work
If you’ve had this feeling for months

Then perhaps the thing you’re waiting for isn’t time.

Perhaps you’re waiting for permission.

Consider this it.

This weeks agenda looks like:

- Refining a brand mark for a wedding florist who adores architecture and Corinthian moments.

- Delivering a digital marketing partnership proposal for a new wellness business who’s looking to launch into the luxury space.

- Book a current client in for a wedding photography investment brochure

- Finalise website design considerations for 4 other wedding industry businesses (mainly photographers, content creators and videographers 📷)

A taster of my days, the inspiration that follows me and beautiful daily moments.

Inspiration is one of the most informative parts of the creative woman.

We see things we adore, and our brain starts to work out how that can become something that is the mark of ‘me’ without it taking from the original artist.

My own signature style came from a plethora of moments.

My mum, a multi-media artist who can literally put her hand to anything, taught me about spacial composition, colour and letting art be just that, art.

My dad, a photographer whose work boasted female silhouettes and hazy darkrooms.

Film collections and visual references from True Romance, Lost in Translation and Nebraska.

Fashion… although I can barely dress myself and admire those who can.

The quiet tones of Enya, Ocie Elliot and Lana.

Books and made up worlds, most of them I can’t list and are controversial for some reason or another.

These specific tastes lead me to becoming the woman I am today and along the way, my signature style was created from these.

My brands and websites are visual assets and also tangible outcomes, yes… but they’re also a binding of who you want to be and how you move in the world.

Your tastes, your cultural references, your heritage.

All of the tiny details who make you the woman you are.

What are they?

And how will you cement them?

Your brand is more than just your work, it’s an identity. A way to communicate your own unique specialty.

It’s a suit of armour in times you don’t feel your best, still working to show you as the best version of yourself.

It’s your weapon to go out into the world and seek more opportunities, more aligned enquiries and dream clients.

It’s your strategy to assist in conquering, giving you guidance and tools to fulfil your goals.

If this resonates with you, send me a DM, I read each and every one.
