A little art, a little movement, and a whole lot of energy. ✨

Spent some time with the Keith Haring exhibition at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art (@crystalbridgesmuseum) in Bentonville, Arkansas (@visitbentonville . 🖤

Haring’s work has a way of turning bold lines, movement, and everyday imagery into something that feels both playful and deeply intentional. A beautiful reminder that art can be loud, joyful, political, and full of life—all at once. taken in Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art by @beingblxckbird_

Remington Park’s “Oklahoma Wine Festival” 🍷🏇🏾✨

Spent the evening at Remington Park sipping and savoring a variety of Oklahoma-made wines while taking in the excitement of the races. Good wine and good energy on a beautiful evening!

68 years later, we celebrate an act of courage by Clara Luper and her 13 young “diamonds,” members of the Oklahoma City NAACP (@naacp) Youth Council, who led one of the nation’s early sit-in movements to challenge segregation in public accommodations. Their courage helped inspire a broader movement for equality across the nation.

Freedom Fiesta began in 1967 to commemorate the anniversary of the Oklahoma City Sit-In Movement. Clara Luper and others established the celebration to honor the movement, keep its legacy alive, and raise funds to support the upkeep of the historic Freedom Center.

Last year, the Clara Luper Plaza Foundation unveiled the Clara Luper National Sit-In Plaza in downtown Oklahoma City, honoring the historic 1958 peaceful protest and the young people whose courage helped change the course of Oklahoma’s civil rights history.

Today, we stand in unity with our community to celebrate this enduring legacy, honor those who came before us, and continue telling this story for generations to come as we look toward the future Clara Luper Civil Rights Center.

Lest we forget.

————

Congratulations, once again, to the Clara Luper Legacy Committee for putting together a series of events to commemorate and celebrate this historic moment. Follow @claraluperlegacy for more information and updates.
