San Francisco, you showed up!!!

Our second night with @doctorshefali brought us together at the Walt Disney Museum for another beautiful and intimate conversation about raising our sons and daughters in today’s world!!!

There was laughter, vulnerability, honest questions and lots of moments that invited us to look a little deeper at ourselves as parents and what the relationship we want to have with our kids.

One of the many reflections we received afterwards captured the night perfectly; “Dr. Shefali is wise, funny, relatable, engaging, real and her message of looking at yourself first, resonated and is deeply important.”

We discussed how parenting is about both what your child is going through but also about what their experiences and emotions bring up in us.

We are so grateful to everyone who joined us, to bringing Dr Shefali for bringing wisdom and humor to these really important conversations our community needs. We hope you left with something to reflect on, something to practice, and perhaps a little more compassion for yourself along the way!!!

I learned that our children are not our trophies. They are hurting. That we have to turn the mirror back on ourselves. The phones are closed doors to our souls. We need to put them down. Dr. Shefali in Marin, what an evening!

More than 150 people came together for an evening of raw and real life parenting concerns, honest reflection, laughter and powerful talk with @doctorshefali.

She has an unique way of helping us look at ourselves, our parenting and our imperfections with both honesty and humor.

One of the most meaningful moments was hearing the letters written by Dr Shefali’s, in her two new books, read by the teens from @teen.colab & @generation_remix. Which were a reminder of how much our children have to say if they had the courage, the language and the safety to say it to us!!!

We, Shirin and Geno, are honored and grateful to have hosted Dr Shefali in Marin and planted the seeds of Conscious Parenting in our community and we hope to share more of the wisdom from her!

I was probably one of the biggest skeptics about meditation. Yes me!

“Me, closing my eyes? No way.”
“Who has time for that?”
“How am I supposed to sit there with all these thoughts?”

And the list went on…
Until I tried it, and slowly, the way I experienced life began to change.

At first, I couldn’t quite put my finger on what was happening. Years later, I realized meditation had been creating something incredibly powerful within me, something soooo simple, space. Space between what I feel and how I respond in my daily life. Space to hear myself underneath all the noise. Space to strengthen my attention. Space to become more aware of what is happening inside me and around me.
And then I learned the science behind it, because part of me still couldn’t believe the impact this simple practice was having on me.

Meditation became less about sitting still and more about how I wanted to live. More present, more aware and able to choose my responses.

So this Thursday, I’m teaching Meditation 101 for Skeptics & Really Busy People, because I know that skeptic very well. 😂

How do we raise confident, resilient children in a world that is changing faster than we can keep up with?

Our kids are trying to navigate anxiety, social media, comparison, academic pressure and a level of stimulation we never experienced growing up. Understanding what they’re navigating also means understanding what they need from us as parents.

This October, @doctorshefali joins us in the Bay Area following the release of her two new books, Raising Conscious Daughters and Raising Conscious Sons.

During two evenings, we’ll explore what children are facing today, how our own expectations, fears, and patterns influence the way we parent, and practical tools for building greater connection, emotional resilience and self-trust.

Emotional Intelligence is beyond a soft skill, it’s an essential skill for our humanity.

Our sons need it. Our daughters need it. To build confidence, resilience, trust, inner power and responsibility. And they learn so much of it by watching us. How we react or respond, what we suppress or express, what we face or avoid. They are always watching us.

Different pressures. Different experiences. Same need to feel seen, understood and supported.
