Attending Dr. Shefali’s event in San Francisco was a memorable experience. I had the opportunity to meet her personally, get my copy of Raising Conscious Daughters signed, and ask a question close to my heart as a Conscious Living & Emotional Regulation Coach.

How do we inspire parents to become more conscious when many don't yet recognize the need for their own inner work?

One message from our interaction stayed with me: if we want to inspire change in others, we must first be willing to embody that change ourselves.

That reminder made me reflect on something: We often focus on our children's behavior, achievements, and well-being. But how often do we pause to examine our own fears, emotional triggers, expectations, and unconscious patterns?

The evening also offered powerful insights:

Screens vs. human connection: Technology connects us digitally, but children still need meaningful relationships, genuine presence, and real-world experiences.

Protection comes from exposure: Rather than shielding children from every difficulty, we can help them face age-appropriate challenges, develop coping skills, and build resilience.

Young people's mental well-being matters: A statistic shared during the event about Gen Z's mental health challenges reinforced the importance of emotional awareness, connection, and resilience.

I was also grateful to hear the stories and meaningful perspectives shared by Genoveva La Placa and Shirin Aryanpour.

I left reflecting on a simple truth: conscious parenting isn't about being perfect. It's about looking within, continuing to grow, and modeling the awareness we hope to nurture in our children.

This is at the heart of my work through NextGen Conscious Mind.

Regulated Adults. Connected Families. Conscious Children.

The next generation is shaped not only by what we teach our children, but also by who we are becoming.

I learned that our children are not our trophies. They are hurting. That we have to turn the mirror back on ourselves. The phones are closed doors to our souls. We need to put them down. Yesterday was a bit of a “pinch me” moment when I got to meet Dr. Shefali, whom I have admired for so many years.

I read her book The Conscious Parent when my daughter was a baby and it changed my life. That book didn’t change things because she was telling me something revolutionary which I had never heard of before; instead, it changed my life because it REAFFIRMED a truth I ALREADY knew. A truth that was living deep within me about the miracle of being a parent, and recognizing that our kids come here to wake us up. They are our mirrors, and they chose us for a reason. Our job as parents isn’t to be perfect or to get everything right, but it’s to do our best to let our kids be who they are and to let them teach us.

I can’t wait to dive in to read her latest book Raising Conscious Daughters (she also has a second book she is releasing at the same time called Raising Conscious Sons) because I value her passion, courage, and profound wisdom. Hearing her speak last night at her book event in Mill Valley with the phenomenal @illuminate_her_path and @bekindandpresent, I not only learned so much incredible information and tools, but I was also thrilled to know that there are so many conscious parents out there in the world. Our kids’ future is bright, and I feel lucky to be in the company of such wonderful women who are leading the charge.

“La importancia de los retiros: volver a ti mismo 🌟

¿Te has sentido alguna vez abrumado por la vida y necesitas un respiro? Los retiros espirituales son un regalo para la mente, el cuerpo y el alma. Al igual que los antiguos sabios que se retiraban a la montaña para reflexionar, hoy en día es más necesario que nunca tomar tiempo para nosotros mismos.

Para mí, los retiros son un llamado a la introspección, a reconectar con mi esencia y encontrar la sabiduría que ya está dentro de mí. Es un espacio para:

- Dejar de victimizarme y tomar control de mi vida.
- Identificar patrones que no me sirven y cambiarlos.
- Encontrar mi propósito y dirección.
- Conectar con otros y sentirme parte de algo más grande.

En mi último retiro en el Eremito Monasterio, experimenté la magia de la comunión y la conexión con mujeres y hombres increíbles. Juntos, descubrimos que todos estamos interconectados y que nuestro equipaje es más ligero cuando lo compartimos.

Del 17 al 23 de septiembre vivimos magia en Umbria.

Todo empezó en Roma. Nos encontramos las 14 y tuvimos el privilegio de cenar en QUID, el restaurante del chef colombiano Juan Quintero, con la vista más fastuosa de Roma desde sus terrazas.

Al día siguiente, Civita di Bagnoregio. La città che muore. Un pueblo suspendido en una montaña, donde se respira la Italia verdadera.

Y llegamos a Il Eremito. Más que un hotel, un antiguo monasterio de ermitaños. Cada cuarto era una celda, cada piedra guardaba silencio y oración. Allí empezó nuestro viaje.

Todos los días a las 7:30 am nos levantábamos a orar, a conectar con la foresta que nos abrazaba. Y después, yoga con la extraordinaria Marcela Sarria. No es una clase común, es danza, es espiritualidad, son movimientos que exorcizan lo que necesitamos soltar.

Nos acompañó Genoveva con sesiones profundas de hipnosis, para descubrir qué patrones repetimos, incluso de vidas pasadas, que hoy nos sabotean.

Y como hilo conductor de todo el taller, tuvimos el privilegio de contar con Julián Guerrero, que nos guió con una charla profunda y transformadora sobre el estoicismo. Su sabiduría nos dio el marco filosófico para integrar todo lo vivido.

Mi aporte, la arteterapia, fue poderosísimo: aprender a ver lo mejor de la otra, con solo observarla. Qué me llevo de ti, qué ves tú en mí.

Cada día una experiencia distinta: ceremonias de cacao que nos abrieron el corazón, sound healing que nos hizo vibrar, caminatas ecológicas, clase de cerámica, y una clase de cocina inolvidable con una típica nona italiana que nos enseñó el sabor de la tradición.

Fueron 7 días donde nuestra energía se transmutó en dar y recibir amor. Un intercambio de sororidad potente entre 14 mujeres donde la magia se sintió de principio a fin.

Nos vamos con la satisfacción del deber cumplido: transmutación emocional y espiritual a través del yoga, el arte, la hipnosis y el estoicismo.
