Taken myself out for a nice little brunch, journalling and bookshop morning β˜ΊοΈπŸ“šπŸ“–πŸ–‹οΈ
I've already read A Lady for a Duke and absolutely loved it, so I had to buy myself a hard copy when I saw it was in stock! It's definitely going to be one of my favourite books of 2026. taken in Harry Hartog Bookseller - Penrith by @bel.fairless

Absolutely devastated to have lost another one of my precious people from this photo. My beautiful godparents, the best bonus parents in the world. Uncle Michael was a wonderful, caring and hilarious man, and I loved him so much. I can't believe he's left so suddenly. I can't imagine a world without him. I said the same thing about Aunty Marg only a few months ago, and now they're both gone. I'll never forget his huge booming voice and how he'd break into song, and silly things, like the two of us getting stuck into a Chinese restaurant for not wanting to let the guide dogs in. He was always there through everything, and I'm going to miss him so much. by @bel.fairless

A brilliant light left the world on Tuesday evening. Aunty Marg was one of the most hilarious, caring, brave, and compassionate people I'll ever know. Rest in peace, my fairy godmother, until we meet again β€οΈπŸ•―οΈπŸ― by @bel.fairless

The blanket isn't finished yet, but it's already been claimed by Maggie 😻❀️

This blanket is made using a huge bag of my granny's scrap wool, plus some generic black wool from Spotlight. All sorts of different kinds of yarn β€” different fibres, novelty yarns, weights, and a little bit of my own scraps for some extra variety. I'm choosing the colours for each square at random from a big basket. I've been working on it for a few years, slowly adding to it when I feel like it, and it'll be about queen sized ☺️ I'm getting towards the end, and my goodness it's heavy! by @bel.fairless

I've finished the singles for my biggest spindle spinning project ever, and I'm thrilled by how it's turned out! This is the most beautiful 17 micron merino from #RaniSmithDesigns on Etsy, flicked and spun from the lock. Now for my least favourite step in the spinning process β€” the plying. I always wish that I liked knitting with singles when I get to this point! I'm surprised by how much I enjoyed spinning plain white wool, I usually get bored of it after a while!

I got through my surgery on Friday, though there were some unforeseen complications. I'm alright now, and that's what matters. I'm recovering pretty well so far, and the bruising and swelling is slowly going down. Thank you to everyone who has reached out to wish me well over the last few weeks, I really appreciate it ❀️

Spinning 17 micron merino on my @straddlecreekspins Russian spindle, and @lairofthebeardeddragon phang 🐏 This is such a beautiful fleece, from Rani Smith Designs on Etsy. It's a nice distraction from everything.

I'm having another surgery on my spine in a couple of weeks. I'm so tired. I don't even know what to say anymore. This is so shit. by @bel.fairless

Trying to get back into spinning with a support spindle again while I'm recovering from major back problems that sent me to hospital for a few days. It's much easier to use a spindle when you're limited to only a few comfortable positions, none of which work for using my e-spinner. The pain is slowly improving, but it was a really traumatic experience all round and it's going to take a while to recover, physically and mentally.

I'm obsessed with this spindle and fibre, they're a dream to work with, as well as my favourite colour! πŸ’œ I'm spinning semi woollen from the top, but it pretty much drafts by itself 😍 I don't think I've spun trilobial nylon before, so that's been interesting.

Peace - Eleanor Farjeon

Throughout the "war" in Gaza, I have thought about this poem many times. "Peace" was written by Eleanor Farjeon in the aftermath of the First World War, and I think it rings true in this conflict as well. A ceasefire doesn't bring back the people who are lost, reverse atrocities committed, or ease the trauma of those left behind to pick up the pieces.

Finished this cute wee jumper for a very special little girl, who loves Pippi Longstocking β˜ΊοΈπŸ’

None of my other projects were behaving themselves, and I'd had the idea percolating in my head for a while, so I went for it. It was easy knitting, but detailed enough to keep me interested throughout!

Pattern: I heavily modified the #FlaxSweater by @tincanknits. All of the modifications are in my Ravelry notes. There are proper patterns that mimic the Pippi jumper on Ravelry, but I wanted to try it my way first, just for a challenge.

Yarn: Cleckheaton Country 8ply in Cream, and some deeeeeep stash @morrisandsons Estate 8ply (unfortunately, both colourways seem to be discontinued) by @bel.fairless
