Monthly BIPoC meet ups! 1-3pm alternating locations (see end of caption)

limited $15 drop in at the link in our bio :) includes rentals. If it’s full or cost is an issue DM us!

try and fill out the online waiver if it’s your first time to the gyms, we’ll help you on the day if needed!

All levels welcome, white people you can still come but please don’t take a discounted spot (that would be weird). These spaces centre rad politics which means please be mindful of who is in attendance at the meetups, while not assuming anything of folks’ identities we hold ourselves accountable to not perpetuate harmful dynamics (can look like beta spraying, prioritizing certain types of strength, play etc, assuming we know why folks want to climb, what they want out of it)

BelayAll is really a sneaky community building project moonlighting as a climbing meetup group. We don’t shame folks for not knowing things and we do collectively challenge the norms upholding systems of oppression (yes, even in the climbing community)

Wee! See you on the 1st sundays of the month at Hive North Vancouver

And the 3rd sundays of the month at Hive Bouldering Vancouver by @belay.all

Woah! There it is! Our last outdoor meetup of the season! Come learn some things and be in community and maybe teach us? Or bring snacks? Or sit around and touch rock? It all sounds good to us!

Especially the snacks. Rumour has it, sugar snap peas are the best snack and stand undefeated, except maybe by papaya or whatever your grandma made that you can no longer recreate.

See you on July 30th! Or out in the wild! Link in Bio for Application.

Festival Program sneak peak: 👀 Our panel discussion on Diversity and Inclusion in Rock Climbing (and outdoor rec/sports in general) will be moderated by the incredible Shabana @shabanasabreenali !

Shabana is a racialized climber from the East Coast, who has had the privilege of climbing and adventuring for over 25 years. She is an active co-facilitator for the QTBIPOC community climbing initiative BelayAll @belay.all and the co-founder of the South Asian Climbers Coalition (SACC) @southasianclimberscoalition .

Shabana recently completed a Master’s at UBC, which focused on the racialized experiences of South Asian climbers in colonially-named Canada. She now works as the Marketing & Communications Assistant at The Hive @hiveclimbing climbing gyms in Vancouver, while continuing to engage in academic work, community projects, and climbing (of course)!

We are also excited to welcome a small panel of guest speakers, including representatives from @belay.all @soul.of.miistaki and @pridesquamish . If you haven’t already, we recommend giving these groups a follow to learn more about, and support, inclusive communities in BC and Alberta!

The panel discussion will be taking place at our Rock and Rise festival on Saturday July 6th from 7-8pm at the Loggers Sports festival grounds. Head to www.rock-and-rise.com/festival to check out our complete weekend schedule (and anything else you’d like to know about our upcoming event!).

Only a handful of admission tickets and clinics spots remaining, so grab ‘em while you can! Less than one month until the big weekend and we can’t wait learn, connect and celebrate together 💜

We are excited to share that the @rock_and_rise Climbing Festival will be taking place in Squamish, BC on July 5-7th 2024!

“Rock and Rise is a weekend festival open to women and people of expansive genders, welcoming all backgrounds and all climbing experience levels from complete beginner to expert.

The event will kick off Friday evening with opening presentations, followed by two days of climbing in the world-class granite destination! Expect a variety of exciting skills clinics, taught by a diverse and talented roster of female and gender-expansive guides, a panel discussion on inclusivity, inspiring personal stories, sponsor gear demos, artist market, music and more!

As a means to make the festival as accessible as possible Rock and Rise are offering scholarships to those with financial barriers. While financial challenges are the primary consideration for this program, other access barriers will also be taken into consideration, such as giving priority to folks belonging to marginalized communities.”

Important dates:
- Scholarship application is open now until March 20th
- 2024 Festival Tickets will become available to the public April 5th

Follow @Rock_and_Rise to learn more and stay updated!

The link in our bio is for folks who do not have a membership to the Hive Heights and would like to attend. This caps at 15 people so get after it as soon as you can! There will be a $15 donation option and a free option (you can always donate a different amount at the door if you feel like it).

If you are a Hive Heights member or punch pass cutie, reserve your spot through the normal website or app links and we’ll see you there (if you are QTB save ur punches and use the unique link)! We can always use folks coming to hang out and belay who have more experience. The event is open to all folks to come and celebrate Black Futures Month in community, raise some money and consider climbing on some ropes.

Bring snacks if you need, bring a water bottle. You can refill water at the gym and there are bars and other drink options for sale at the desk. There are gendered washrooms with awareness signs about not assuming gender, the single stall washroom is out of order last we checked.

We’ll start the night off with some intros and specific orientations for folks who have never been to the gym before.

(we will have a playlist and will be taking requests).
