Bogong Moths!
This ‘plague’ blown off course on their way to the alps has been very timely for me. For the past few months I’ve been working on a new series of works inspired once again by Kosciuszko.
However this series will focus on the endangered species of the area, of which the Bogong Moth is one. This week I’ve been working on a small study of this amazing little insect - here’s some sneak peaks and juicy close ups of the work.
Stay tuned as I work toward my next solo exhibition to be held @curatorialandco in May 2027.

What happens when five artists respond to the same place?

'Current Connections' brings together the work of David Collins, Sally Stokes, Belinda Street, Leah Thiessen and Ana Young, each responding to Lake Macquarie in their own unique way.

We sat down with Belinda Street and Ana Young to talk about place, process and the ideas behind their work.

'Current Connections' is on view at MAC yapang until 20 September.

Part of an enormous auction last Saturday night at the HMRI Gala Ball was my painting “Golden Illumination” Acrylic on canvas 90x90cm. By the end of the night, our community had raised $388,900 for life changing medical research! It was such a privilege to be a part of it.

My painting, Golden Illumination, unfolds through layers—of paint, of gesture, of concealment and revelation—echoing the quiet complexity of scientific discovery. Inspired by Professor Joshua Davis’ SNAP Trial, it reflects a world unseen yet deeply felt, where microscopic forms carry profound consequence.

Suspended within the surface, circular traces emerge and dissolve, suggesting the presence of Staphylococcus aureus—golden, persistent, alive. These drifting forms speak not only of bacteria, but of connection: a network of effort, of knowledge shared across borders, of lives bound together through research and care.

Light moves through the work in warm golds and soft yellows, a palette drawn from both the organism itself and the idea of hope. It gathers, disperses, and returns—like breath, like healing in motion.

What is hidden becomes visible. What is uncertain begins to take shape. Within this shifting field, the painting holds a quiet optimism: that through patience, collaboration, and inquiry, illumination is possible.
