Growth is realizing that being misunderstood is not always an emergency.

Making time for self does not need to be explained and definitely comes wrapped in a GUILTY-FREE bow. 🎀

I don’t have to correct every version of the story.

I don’t have to defend every decision.

I don’t have to make sure everybody “gets” me.

Some things don’t require a response.

Apparently, this is one of the perks of your 50s. 😂

Peace is expensive. I’m no longer spending mine on explanations.

There’s a difference…

My new client came in believing she had sensitive skin. After her skin analysis, I saw something different: skin that had likely become sensitized from doing too much of one thing—and not enough of another.

Two over-the-counter salicylic cleansers.
A “daily” scrub.
No moisturizer.
No hydration support.

Sometimes the answer isn’t adding MORE products. It’s simplifying.

So we’re starting with the basics: a gentle cleanser + moisturizer, with a toner sample to introduce slowly. That’s it. We’ll see how her skin responds before we start piling on actives.

Your skin barrier needs care, hydration, and time to recover. Exfoliating every day just because the bottle says “daily” doesn’t mean YOUR skin needs it every day.

And if everything suddenly burns, stings, feels tight, or seems “sensitive”? Your skin may not be sensitive. It may be asking you to stop irritating it.

Sometimes good skincare is knowing when to do less. 🤎

There is a particular kind of tired that comes from being a woman who has spent a lifetime being strong.

We are mothers.
Grandmothers.
Wives.
Daughters.
Sisters.
Aunts.
Friends.
Caretakers.

And somewhere along the way, many of us became the place everyone else comes to land.

We are the ones who check in.
Who remember.
Who fix.
Who listen.
Who make room.
Who hold families together while quietly trying to hold ourselves together too.

Gen X women were taught to push through.
Handle it. Figure it out. Keep moving.

And we did.

But I’m learning that strength isn’t measured by how much I can carry without collapsing.

Sometimes strength is recognizing what was never mine to carry in the first place.

I can love people deeply without absorbing everything they are going through.

I can care without rescuing.

I can be present without surrendering my peace.

And I can tend to myself with the same tenderness I’ve spent a lifetime giving everyone else.

Maybe this season isn’t asking us to become harder.

Maybe it’s asking us to finally put some things down.

To all the women quietly carrying more than anyone realizes…

I see you. And I hope you’re learning to make room for yourself, too.

Showing vulnerability is not a sign of weakness.

Vulnerability is being willing to say:
This is who I am. This is how I feel. This is where I am right now. — without first needing reassurance that the world will receive it well.

It’s taking off the mask.

It’s letting go of the need to appear unaffected, unbothered or perfectly put together.

And there is power in that.

Today at BEADCOMING™, we explored vulnerability before choosing and tying our waist beads. We reflected on what it feels like to allow ourselves to be seen honestly — without knowing how that honesty will be received.

Because everyone gets to decide how they receive this version of you.

And you get to decide that you no longer have to hide her.

Your softness is not weakness.
Your honesty is not failure.
Your feelings do not make you fragile.

Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is simply say:

This is where I am. And I am not ashamed of it.

Our next BEADCOMING™ gathering is Saturday, October 10 | 11AM–1PM, and we’re going deeper into this work together.

🦋Message me to reserve your spot.

Come ready to reflect.
Come ready to release.
Come ready to be seen — even if the first person who truly sees you is you.

BEADCOMING™ — Where becoming begins.

CLIENT CHRONICLES: The Case of the Mystery Oil 😂🔎

My client reached out because by the end of the day, her skin was extra oily on her new routine.

And I was STUMPED.

I went through her AM routine.
Her PM routine.
Her products.
Her application.

Nothing made sense…until I kept asking questions. 👀

Turns out, she was applying her heavier nighttime moisturizer in the morning — and THEN applying her Sia Botanics Tinted Moisturizer SPF on top.

Aha. There it is. 😂

She wasn’t just wearing moisturizer + SPF.

She was wearing moisturizer + moisturizer + SPF.

Too many emollients for her skin, especially with a richer moisturizer underneath. Mystery solved. 🕵🏽‍♀️

So here’s today’s PSA for my Sia Botanics clients:

☀️ Tinted Moisturizer SPF = moisturizer + SPF
☀️ Daily Moisturizer SPF = moisturizer + SPF

They are two-in-one daytime products. You do NOT need to put another moisturizer underneath unless I’ve specifically instructed you to.

And at night? Use your nighttime moisturizer — not your SPF. There’s no reason to sleep in sunscreen or waste your daytime product.

And this is exactly why, when something isn’t working, I ask questions instead of immediately changing your entire routine.

Sometimes the product isn’t the problem.

Sometimes we just need to figure out what’s actually happening on your bathroom counter. 😂

GAME. CHANGER. 🦋

If ingrown hairs, clogged pores, uneven tone or texture are an issue — face, bikini area OR back — these Dermathod exfoliating pads have become one of my favorite home-care recommendations.

And yesterday, a client gave me the proof I needed.

She came in for her first Brazilian in TEN YEARS, and immediately I noticed something:

Her skin looked completely different.

Normally, I’m prepared to do extractions because her bikini area tends to have larger pores with buildup of oil, dead skin and product.

This time?

Nothing to extract.

So of course I started asking questions.

“Are you doing anything differently?”

Nope.

Same soap.
Same panties.
Same lifestyle.

Then she stopped.

“Oh wait…the Dermathod pads. I’ve actually been using them consistently like you told me.”

THERE IT IS. 😂

And here’s the kicker: I recommend them twice a week, and she’s only been using them ONCE a week.

These pads exfoliate while helping improve the appearance of uneven skin tone, texture and pores — which is exactly why I love them for Brazilian aftercare.

BELLA TIP ✨
They are VERY saturated. Cut one pad in half, use half now, put the unused half back into the packet and use it at your next treatment. No need to waste good product!

Use the textured side first, then finish with the smooth side.

Face. Bikini area. Back.
One little pad can do some serious work.

Consistency will beat a cabinet full of products you don’t use every single time.

And yesterday’s Brazilian was the perfect reminder.

The people who love you can still give you advice that isn’t meant for your life.

Family. Friends. Mentors. Even therapists.

They’re listening to you through the lens of what they’ve lived, what they’ve survived, what worked for them—and what didn’t.

That doesn’t make their advice bad.

It just means it’s theirs.

There comes a point when you have to get quiet enough to hear yourself.

That first thought.
That little tug.
That feeling that said yes before everybody gave you reasons to say no—or no before everybody convinced you it should be yes.

Circle back to her.

Because at the end of the day, other people can give you advice, but you have to live with the receipts.

And the same grace goes both ways.

When someone asks for your advice, give it with love—but leave room for the possibility that what worked for you may not be what works for them.

Maybe all of our advice needs a tiny disclaimer:

This is what I know from the life I’ve lived.
Now go live yours.

Trust your wisdom.
Honor theirs.
Release the need to control the outcome.

There is a point in a woman’s life when she begins to understand:

I don’t have to carry all of this with me.

Not the expectations.
Not the titles.
Not the need to be understood.
Not the version of myself I created to make everyone else comfortable.

Maybe that’s why I love 59 so much.

I’m not trying to become younger.
I’m becoming more myself.

And I don’t believe we suddenly arrive here one day, magically healed and unbothered.

We practice.

We release something.
We choose something different.
We forgive ourselves for what we didn’t know.
We stop explaining every no.
We become quieter about proving ourselves and louder about honoring ourselves.

And perhaps the most beautiful part of this season is realizing that healing doesn’t always mean fixing what was broken.

Sometimes healing is simply deciding what gets to come with you into the next chapter.

I’m still doing that work, too.

Every day.

So to the woman somewhere behind me on this road:
Pay attention to your life.
Learn the lessons.
Stay present.
Keep becoming.

There is no need to fear getting older.

The weather up here is just fine. 🤎

Winter skin starts with your cleanser. 💕

As the weather begins to change, dry and mature skin often needs a change too—and one of the first places I look is the cleansing step.

These are two of my favorite professional options for skin that needs to be CLEAN without being stripped.

And remember: these are concentrated, professional skincare products. You do not need a handful of cleanser. A little goes a LONG way.

🍎 SKIN SCRIPT POMEGRANATE ANTIOXIDANT CLEANSER

• Safflower + jojoba oils help soften the skin and support its natural moisture barrier
• Glycerin helps attract and hold water in the skin

• Pomegranate + grape seed extracts provide antioxidant support against environmental stress

• Aloe helps soothe and support comfortable, hydrated skin

• Squalane adds lightweight emollience to help prevent that tight, “squeaky-clean” feeling

• Creamy formula gently removes dirt, oil and makeup without over-stripping

🌿 SIA BOTANICS HYDRATING CREAM CLEANSER

• Aloe vera helps soothe while supporting moisture retention

• Olive + sunflower oils replenish lipids and help soften dry skin

• Glycerin draws moisture into the skin

• Calendula helps calm and comfort sensitive or weather-stressed skin

• Rooibos + white tea provide antioxidant support

• Vitamins E, C and provitamin B5 provide additional conditioning and antioxidant benefits

• Fragrance- and essential-oil-free formula makes it especially nice for dry and sensitive skin

And SIA literally recommends a PEA-SIZED amount. That’s how concentrated it is.

As we head toward colder weather, this matters.

If your face feels tight, dry or uncomfortable immediately after cleansing, don’t assume you just need a heavier moisturizer.

Your CLEANSER may be where the problem starts.

Dry skin doesn’t need to be scrubbed, stripped or foamed into submission.

Clean it. Protect it. Keep the moisture barrier happy.

There is something healing about being in a room where no one needs you to perform, explain or hold everything together.

A room where women can laugh, reflect, release and be witnessed—without having to become the caretaker of the moment.

That is the experience I have been trying to create for women for nearly a decade.

BEADCOMING™ is part gathering, part ritual and part remembering:

You were never meant to carry it all alone.

For the woman who has been carrying so much, for so long…

BEADCOMING™ is an evening to exhale.
To sit among women.
To quiet the noise.
To remember that becoming doesn’t always require doing more.

Sometimes, it begins by allowing yourself to simply be.

One place remains.

Sometimes the hardest lesson to learn is that the way someone loves you is not a measurement of your worth.

People love from the emotional home they’ve built within themselves. Some have learned trust, compassion, and peace. Others are still living with wounds they never healed. We often mistake their capacity to love as a reflection of our value, when in reality, it’s a reflection of theirs.

That doesn’t mean we stop loving people. It means we stop measuring ourselves by what they are unable to give.

Your worth was never determined by someone else’s ability to recognize it, nurture it, or protect it.

When you understand that, rejection feels different. Disappointment feels different. Even heartbreak begins to soften.

Because you realize it was never about whether you were enough.

It was about whether they had enough within themselves to offer.

Protect your heart—but never question its worth. 💝💝💝
