There are friends.
There are therapists.
And then there are friends who have unknowingly become our therapists. 😬😂

This one? She’s been all three. 🦋

Through every heartbreak, heartache, trial, and triumph, she’s been my safe place. My coach, my cheerleader, and my nonjudgmental sister from another mister. 🤭

I’m in her town, and she’s doing what she’s always done—taking care of me. 🥹

There’s something priceless about being loved by someone who knows the unfiltered, unapologetic, authentic YOU… and loves you just the same.

What a beautiful way to kick off the holiday season.

Love is here. Gratitude is overflowing. And my cup is FULL. 🙏🏼❤️

Somewhere along the way, my clients became part of my story. 🦋

Today, I was reminded of just how beautiful that story is.

I looked around and realized that several of the women sitting in my treatment room have been coming to me for more than a decade.

I’ve watched their children grow up. We’ve celebrated milestones, navigated life’s challenges, shared laughter, tears, secrets, dreams, and everything in between.

What began as monthly appointments became years of connection, trust, and friendship.

And somewhere in those years, something extraordinary happened.

While I was caring for their skin, they were helping shape the woman I was becoming.

A better mother. A better wife. A better friend. A better esthetician. A better me.

We talk so much about the impact we hope to have on others. But we don’t always stop to recognize the beautiful ways they’ve impacted us.

Today, I did. And it brought me to tears.

To every woman who has trusted me with her skin, her stories, her vulnerability, and a little piece of her life…

Thank you for allowing me to grow alongside you.

You may come to me for skincare, but what you’ve given me goes so far beyond the treatment room.

And I will never take that for granted.

What a privilege it is to do work that allows you to love people for a living. 🦋

Anyone who knows me know that I have been beekeeping for about 3 years. I have lost a few hives over the years so I rebuild every time. My end result was to have bees and produce honey because I know the benefits of raw local honey. The end result was to have something that the people could use. WE DID IT!!

Anyone that has had our honey this season it was definitely a labor of love. From getting stung every now and then to the extra set of hands that help me do hive checks and extract honey @busybeeop.

If you had the pleasure of having our honey this season we say thank you. Thank you for enjoying the bees hard work.

If you did not get any this season that is ok we will do it again next year.

Here is a little video from one of my favorite people to tell you how good it was lol.

There’s a difference…

My new client came in believing she had sensitive skin. After her skin analysis, I saw something different: skin that had likely become sensitized from doing too much of one thing—and not enough of another.

Two over-the-counter salicylic cleansers.
A “daily” scrub.
No moisturizer.
No hydration support.

Sometimes the answer isn’t adding MORE products. It’s simplifying.

So we’re starting with the basics: a gentle cleanser + moisturizer, with a toner sample to introduce slowly. That’s it. We’ll see how her skin responds before we start piling on actives.

Your skin barrier needs care, hydration, and time to recover. Exfoliating every day just because the bottle says “daily” doesn’t mean YOUR skin needs it every day.

And if everything suddenly burns, stings, feels tight, or seems “sensitive”? Your skin may not be sensitive. It may be asking you to stop irritating it.

Sometimes good skincare is knowing when to do less. 🤎

CLIENT CHRONICLES: The Case of the Mystery Oil 😂🔎

My client reached out because by the end of the day, her skin was extra oily on her new routine.

And I was STUMPED.

I went through her AM routine.
Her PM routine.
Her products.
Her application.

Nothing made sense…until I kept asking questions. 👀

Turns out, she was applying her heavier nighttime moisturizer in the morning — and THEN applying her Sia Botanics Tinted Moisturizer SPF on top.

Aha. There it is. 😂

She wasn’t just wearing moisturizer + SPF.

She was wearing moisturizer + moisturizer + SPF.

Too many emollients for her skin, especially with a richer moisturizer underneath. Mystery solved. 🕵🏽‍♀️

So here’s today’s PSA for my Sia Botanics clients:

☀️ Tinted Moisturizer SPF = moisturizer + SPF
☀️ Daily Moisturizer SPF = moisturizer + SPF

They are two-in-one daytime products. You do NOT need to put another moisturizer underneath unless I’ve specifically instructed you to.

And at night? Use your nighttime moisturizer — not your SPF. There’s no reason to sleep in sunscreen or waste your daytime product.

And this is exactly why, when something isn’t working, I ask questions instead of immediately changing your entire routine.

Sometimes the product isn’t the problem.

Sometimes we just need to figure out what’s actually happening on your bathroom counter. 😂

GAME. CHANGER. 🦋

If ingrown hairs, clogged pores, uneven tone or texture are an issue — face, bikini area OR back — these Dermathod exfoliating pads have become one of my favorite home-care recommendations.

And yesterday, a client gave me the proof I needed.

She came in for her first Brazilian in TEN YEARS, and immediately I noticed something:

Her skin looked completely different.

Normally, I’m prepared to do extractions because her bikini area tends to have larger pores with buildup of oil, dead skin and product.

This time?

Nothing to extract.

So of course I started asking questions.

“Are you doing anything differently?”

Nope.

Same soap.
Same panties.
Same lifestyle.

Then she stopped.

“Oh wait…the Dermathod pads. I’ve actually been using them consistently like you told me.”

THERE IT IS. 😂

And here’s the kicker: I recommend them twice a week, and she’s only been using them ONCE a week.

These pads exfoliate while helping improve the appearance of uneven skin tone, texture and pores — which is exactly why I love them for Brazilian aftercare.

BELLA TIP ✨
They are VERY saturated. Cut one pad in half, use half now, put the unused half back into the packet and use it at your next treatment. No need to waste good product!

Use the textured side first, then finish with the smooth side.

Face. Bikini area. Back.
One little pad can do some serious work.

Consistency will beat a cabinet full of products you don’t use every single time.

And yesterday’s Brazilian was the perfect reminder.

There is a point in a woman’s life when she begins to understand:

I don’t have to carry all of this with me.

Not the expectations.
Not the titles.
Not the need to be understood.
Not the version of myself I created to make everyone else comfortable.

Maybe that’s why I love 59 so much.

I’m not trying to become younger.
I’m becoming more myself.

And I don’t believe we suddenly arrive here one day, magically healed and unbothered.

We practice.

We release something.
We choose something different.
We forgive ourselves for what we didn’t know.
We stop explaining every no.
We become quieter about proving ourselves and louder about honoring ourselves.

And perhaps the most beautiful part of this season is realizing that healing doesn’t always mean fixing what was broken.

Sometimes healing is simply deciding what gets to come with you into the next chapter.

I’m still doing that work, too.

Every day.

So to the woman somewhere behind me on this road:
Pay attention to your life.
Learn the lessons.
Stay present.
Keep becoming.

There is no need to fear getting older.

The weather up here is just fine. 🤎

Winter skin starts with your cleanser. 💕

As the weather begins to change, dry and mature skin often needs a change too—and one of the first places I look is the cleansing step.

These are two of my favorite professional options for skin that needs to be CLEAN without being stripped.

And remember: these are concentrated, professional skincare products. You do not need a handful of cleanser. A little goes a LONG way.

🍎 SKIN SCRIPT POMEGRANATE ANTIOXIDANT CLEANSER

• Safflower + jojoba oils help soften the skin and support its natural moisture barrier
• Glycerin helps attract and hold water in the skin

• Pomegranate + grape seed extracts provide antioxidant support against environmental stress

• Aloe helps soothe and support comfortable, hydrated skin

• Squalane adds lightweight emollience to help prevent that tight, “squeaky-clean” feeling

• Creamy formula gently removes dirt, oil and makeup without over-stripping

🌿 SIA BOTANICS HYDRATING CREAM CLEANSER

• Aloe vera helps soothe while supporting moisture retention

• Olive + sunflower oils replenish lipids and help soften dry skin

• Glycerin draws moisture into the skin

• Calendula helps calm and comfort sensitive or weather-stressed skin

• Rooibos + white tea provide antioxidant support

• Vitamins E, C and provitamin B5 provide additional conditioning and antioxidant benefits

• Fragrance- and essential-oil-free formula makes it especially nice for dry and sensitive skin

And SIA literally recommends a PEA-SIZED amount. That’s how concentrated it is.

As we head toward colder weather, this matters.

If your face feels tight, dry or uncomfortable immediately after cleansing, don’t assume you just need a heavier moisturizer.

Your CLEANSER may be where the problem starts.

Dry skin doesn’t need to be scrubbed, stripped or foamed into submission.

Clean it. Protect it. Keep the moisture barrier happy.

Your skincare routine doesn’t end at the bathroom sink.

Every boundary you honor…
Every walk you take…
Every moment you choose stillness over chaos…

That’s skincare, too.

Chronic stress doesn’t just weigh on the mind. It raises cortisol, fuels inflammation, disrupts sleep, impacts heart health, and can accelerate visible signs of skin aging—from dullness and dehydration to the breakdown of collagen.

Science continues to remind us that movement and meditation are more than self-care.

They help regulate the nervous system, support a healthier heart, and create the conditions for our bodies—and our skin—to thrive.

Protecting your peace isn’t selfish. It’s one of the most loving things you can do for yourself.

We’re not chasing youth.

We’re honoring the privilege of aging by caring for ourselves—inside and out—so we can look our best, feel our best, and live this season of life with strength, grace, and intention. ❤️

One sentence from my provider stayed with me after my appointment:

“You keep your power.”

That hit me.

For years, I’ve lived with mammograms every six months, MRIs, biopsies, and surgeries. Things have changed quickly in my body before, so I don’t ignore them.

But I also refuse to live in fear.

I don’t make decisions based on possibility.

I make them based on probability.

There’s a possibility of countless things happening in life.

That doesn’t mean they’re likely.

So I gather information.
I ask questions.
I take the next step.
Then I move forward.

Not from panic.
From knowledge.

Fear takes away your power.

Information gives it back.

Take care of your body. Trust your intuition. Find providers who welcome your questions. That’s how you become an active participant in your own health—not a fearful bystander.

There’s a lot of noise online right now about healthcare.

Some of it is warranted. Some of it isn’t.

After 32 years of navigating breast biopsies, MRIs, mammograms, ultrasounds, calcifications, and multiple lump removals, I’ve learned something that social media can never replace:

A healthcare provider who educates you instead of simply directing you.

The best providers don’t dismiss your questions.

They don’t rush your fears.
They explain. They teach. They partner with you.

That’s exactly what I’ve found in Shay Zapien, APRN, at Sarah Cannon.

I’ve spent decades advocating for my own health, and I know the difference between feeling like a chart… and feeling like a person.

No matter where you receive your care, find providers who make you feel informed, respected, and empowered.

Because asking questions isn’t being difficult.

It’s being invested in your own health.

❤️ Part 2 is where I share the mindset that has carried me through every breast scare I’ve faced.

CLIENT CHRONICLES | Hair Edition 💛

A longtime client reached out this week asking for my Holy Grail Hair Oil. She first used it postpartum with amazing results, and now that she’s in perimenopause and noticing hair thinning, she knew exactly what she wanted.

Many of you know me as an esthetician, but before skincare, I spent 20 years as a hairstylist. I’ve always been incredibly particular about ingredients and only creating products that truly perform.

That’s why I make my Holy Grail Hair Oil in small, fresh batches—never to sit on a shelf.

I’ll have a fresh batch ready within 48 hours. If you’d like me to set a bottle aside, send me a DM. 🦋
