WHO IS REALLY BEING EXAMINED?

Paris, 1941.

Picasso has been brought into a room to answer questions about three paintings.

But questions have a way of turning around.

The longer Picasso and Miss Fischer talk, the less certain it becomes who is interrogating whom.

Two people.
Two agendas.
One room.

And neither intends to surrender control.

Join the Eastside Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebrations September 19 - October 30!

The Eastside Día de los Muertos is a series of workshops and event organized by Cafecito Mexican Bakery, community leaders, YES and the youth of Latino H.E.A.T.. The series kicked off with a Catrina makeup workshop held on September 19 with a demonstration led by two talented artists Amelia (@amelia_la_catrina) and Leslye (@the_makeup_angel_ ) at the Cafecito booth at the @belredarts Night Market. Participants had their face painted and learned about the cultural significance of the Catrina and Día de los Muertos traditions. Lizeet and Porfirio, owners of @cafecito.mexican.bakery proudly displayed their freshly baked pan de muerto (Day of the Dead bread) and shared stories of their family's traditions. They displayed a beautiful community ofrenda (offering) adorned with cempasúchil (marigolds) flowers and candles to honor and remember departed family members and pets.

Join the Eastside community to celebrate the rich cultural traditions behind this annual observance celebrated in Mexico and other parts of Latin America. Attend the main event at Crossroads Community Center on Saturday, October 24 from 12-4p.m.! Free and all are welcome!

Thank you for spending the night with us!

👈 Swipe left to check it all out.

The 2nd Annual BelRed Arts Night Market this past Saturday, September 19th, 4 to 10 PM, was a resounding success. It was so great seeing the Arts District come alive with music, art, food, local businesses, friends and neighbors.

Thank you to everyone who came out and made the night so special, and to the artists, vendors, performers, volunteers, crew and community partners who brought it all to life.

We’re especially grateful to the Community Programming Fund through @cityofbellevuewa - @pugetsoundenergy @imaginehousing @bellevueartsprogram and @republic_services for helping keep this event free and accessible, and to our Cultural Partners: @theatre33_bellevue and @sorbellevue

We’re building this together, and we’re so glad you’re part of it. See you at the next event!

Join us at the film screening of the Ultimate Citizens and the Q & A session with director Francine Strickwerda.

Ultimate Citizens was the opening film at SXSW EDU, and winner of 26 film festival awards.”

"Ultimate Citizens is a celebration of resilience and a vision of a more welcoming America. Developing a sense of belonging—so critical for all Middle School and Junior High children—is spectacularly illustrated as we see children blossom amidst the most difficult circumstances.

The film follows Jamshid Khajavi, a charismatic, fiery and funny Iranian American public school counselor, as he mentors the members of an Ultimate Frisbee team assembled from the immigrant and refugee students arriving at his inner-city school in Seattle, WA."

Seattle-based visual artist @andy_arkley installed a temporary, suspended interactive inflatable art sculpture during the BelRed Arts District World Cup Soccer Party in late June. It will return this weekend, making an appearance at the @belredarts Night Market on Saturday, September 19 from 4-9pm. “Into the Magic Land,” located near the BelRed Light Rail Station, strives to foster inclusion, positivity and elation.
