🪨 - Not Bad Dave (aka The Cad) SDS - f7c ⭐️⭐️

Over a year since my first 7c on rock. This one went as quick as my first 7c in just two sessions. Mad to think there’s some 7b’s that I have sunk 10+ sessions into and still haven’t sent them. Not sure if that means the 7c’s are soft or the 7b’s are stiff. Either way chuffed to get this one sent. Thanks to @jamie_h_22 for the secret foot beta 👊

P.s. probably the most scatty and scrappy “top out”
I have ever done. Tried my best not to use the knee but it’s kind of unavoidable.

💄- Paul O’Grady 7b SDS ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Nice to have a bit of redemption with this one. Did the stand probably over a year ago now and have wanted to get back for the sit ever since. The top still felt as scary, if not more scary than the first time. Made up to get this one in the bag tho after 2 sessions, one spent remembering the moves and the other planting off the top twice before the send.

Ross made this beautifully shaped pebble for my board out of what we think is spalted ash. It's small enough to work the fingers well, yet round enough that it's super comfortable to pull down hard.

Took the opportunity to mash a small edit together.

🪨 - Few from the weekend

Aeon Dyno 7b (done this from the jug start, the “lower start” and the sds start, so I think I have covered all possible starts)

Aeon Crack 6c (also did this from standing and sitter just in case)

My best go at Aeon 7c (will be returning for this in the future, feels like it will go)

💍 - Ring Piece 7b+ ⭐️⭐️

What a feeling. Words can’t describe how I felt topping this monster out. I had tried this later last year and was freaked out by the top. I became frozen with fear the first time I tried the top and had to bail off but managed to overcome that fear and did the top in isolation.

Came back this time with an emotional support chalk bag and more confidence knowing I could deal with the height this time. Took a few deep breaths and just kept moving until I was at the top. Never felt such an accomplishment from topping something out, not due to the grade but due to the internal struggle I had to overcome to get it done.

🪨- Underhand 7b+

Solo trip back to Almscliffe to try this one again. Took a couple of tumbles to remember the beta but sadly couldn’t remember how to get to the jug on the lip statically, so just cut and went for it. Wanted to try this as soon as I saw it and now I know there is an extension, I will be returning to try that. Hopefully before it gets too warm.

🌕 - Bad Moon Rising 7b+ 💎

I have been wanting to get this one done for a while now. First visited this absolute gem of a crag about a year ago and had a few goes on Bad Moon Rising but felt I wasn’t strong enough at the time, it just felt too powerful for me and I just didn’t have the juice. Went back in summer with terrible conditions and made no progress, unsurprisingly. Felt like I was ready this time round with a reasonably good grit season behind me and good conditions, it went fairly quickly this time. Very pleased to get this one sent after the pressure of the season coming to an end and the 3 mile up hill walk in had started to weigh heavy on me.

🪨 - Vitruvian Man 7b+ ✅

Not as scary as the stories make out. Made up to get this in a session pretty much, I had tried the start before but didn’t want to put any time into it because I was intimidated by the height, the landing and the top out. Actually felt pretty comfortable in the end and the top out was fine. Guess all the grit climbing has paid off when it comes to scatty top outs.

⚫️ - One from the comp I didn’t manage to do on the day. @jamie_h_22 coming out with the wisdoms saved me all the energy on the lower sequence so I had energy for the harder moves at the top. Not the hardest but definitely a tricky one.
