This week, I’ve been reflecting on the incredible privilege of connecting with the people I deeply admire in the music world. This past Sunday was a true milestone in that journey. Meeting François K a pioneer who laid the very pathways for what we call electronic music today, was a insane experience. To find him so genuine, sweet, and sincerely interested in what I had to show was incredibly grounding. His in conversation unlocked some knowledge of club culture I had no idea about. I’ll admit, I often fall into the trap of self doubt, worrying that I don’t know enough. I’m always hungry to learn more, but this encounter served as a vital reminder, while the horizon of knowledge is always moving, the foundation I’ve built over the last ten years is significant. Looking back at a decade of dedication, I’m finally realizing that what I’ve accomplished is actually pretty incredible. I did a deep dive on photos of some of my biggest heroes that I’ve been able to meet and or work with at some point. Some of them quite literally house & techno royalty. House music will always be QUEER, BLACK, LATINO and unapologetic.
