A massive AI data center could be coming to Bell Works in Holmdel just steps away from people’s homes.

Despite Holmdel passing an ordinance banning data centers, this project could still move forward because its application was submitted before the ban took effect.

Residents could be left dealing with constant noise, air pollution from diesel generators, increased pressure on our energy grid, and threats to nearby waterways.

Holmdel residents deserve clean air, safe drinking water, and a say in what gets built in their neighborhoods. But we can still stop this project. Head to link in our bio to send a letter to the planning board and township officials.

Big Tech cannot continue putting children and families at risk without accountability.

AI is advancing faster than the laws meant to protect us. New Jersey has a chance to lead by passing three critical bills that protect people from AI exploitation, increase transparency, and hold tech companies accountable.

Read the full op-ed in NorthJersey.com and take action at the link in our bio.

We can still stop the South Brunswick data center.

Despite serious concerns about air pollution, public health, and the impact on surrounding communities, this project is moving forward. But its air permit's public comment has been extended to November 9th, and residents have a chance to push back.

Submit a public comment opposing the permit before November 9! Head to the link in our bio to take action. We’ve provided a comment template and step-by-step guide to make submitting your opposition easy.

After being at Western Michigan, Michigan State, University of Michigan, Cornell, and Ithaca College over the last few weeks, the thing I keep coming back to is just how ready students are to use their power.

They’re ready to stand up to university administrations, push back on what’s happening at the federal level, and ask way more of the people and institutions making decisions about their lives.

Students want to talk about healthcare, AI and who gets to make decisions with it, what the job market is going to look like, rent, student debt, climate, and so much more. These are the things people are actually thinking about every day, and students are asking the questions that so often get ignored by corporate media.

Getting to be in these rooms with @moreperfectuniversity to see how curious, pissed off, thoughtful, and ready to organize young people are has been really special! See you on a campus near you soon! by @ben_dziobek

DataOne was just fined $1.07 million after installing and operating 62 massive natural-gas generators at its Vineland data center without the required state air permits.

Accountability matters, but we also have to ask how a project this massive was able to install and operate dozens of generators before the state stepped in. The public only learned what was happening after an independent news outlet flew a drone over the facility.

This is exactly why enforcement after the fact is not enough. New Jersey needs constant, proactive oversight while hyperscale data centers are being built, and data centers should not be allowed to rely on gas generators to make up for power demands that the grid cannot handle.

Right now, companies can build these facilities, turn them on, and deal with the consequences later if they get caught. Residents should not have to wait for pollution, violations, rising electric bills, or other impacts before the state acts.

We need real safeguards in place before more massive data centers are approved. Send a letter to the Legislature and Governor calling for a statewide moratorium on new data centers using the link in our bio.

Two Gen Z members of @climaterevolutionnj, both birders and ecologists, are facing legal costs after being arrested by New Jersey State Police while standing with people detained at Delaney Hall during a hunger strike over conditions inside the ICE detention facility.

They were among 61 people arrested that night while community members, organizers, students, clergy, and advocates gathered outside Delaney Hall in Newark in solidarity with those inside.

Months later, both are still facing charges stemming from that night. Their cases are expected to be heard in early October, and defending themselves against these charges will come with significant legal costs.

If you can please chip in using the link in my bio. Any additional money will be donated to NJ immigrant rights organizations legal funds.

A data center in Secaucus spilled at least 5,500 gallons of diesel fuel into Anderson Creek, a tidal tributary connected directly to the Hackensack River.

The spill reached the Anderson Creek tidal wetland made up of mudflats, marsh vegetation and habitat that supports fish, shellfish, insects, worms, birds and other wildlife. Even without an immediate fish kill, diesel can damage organisms at the bottom of the food chain and contaminate marsh vegetation and sediment.

This is exactly why regulating data centers town by town is not enough. Pollution does not stop at municipal borders. Jersey City and Bayonne can ban data centers, but they are still connected to the same river system impacted by a spill in Secaucus.

Send a letter using the link in our bio to the Governor and Legislature.

More than 2 MILLION New Jersey residents now live in a municipality that has banned AI data centers.

From rural farm towns to suburban communities to some of our largest cities, communities across the state are standing up to Big Tech and saying NO to massive data centers that threaten to drive up utility bills, strain our electric grid and water supplies, and leave residents with the costs while billionaires walk away with the profits.

This movement crosses party lines and every corner of our state. Town by town, New Jersey residents are doing what Trenton has failed to do: protecting their communities from the unchecked rush to build AI data centers.

Governor Sherrill, your constituents are demanding a statewide moratorium. It’s time to listen. Send a letter to the Governor and all legislators with the link in bio.

Nearly 100 towns across New Jersey have now banned data centers, but Gov. Sherrill’s administration is making it pretty clear they believe the state has already done enough. Her constituents are saying otherwise.

Reporting requirements and one-off bills are not a substitute for a moratorium. New Jersey needs a three-year moratorium so comprehensive protections can be put in place without the continued rapid proliferation of data centers while those laws are being written and implemented.

Until that happens, we will continue working town by town to pass local bans and protect communities across New Jersey.

Governor Sherrill, listen to your constituents. It’s time for a statewide moratorium.
