A step becomes a seat, and a sofa becomes a stage.

At @sancal’s Experimentarium at @feriahabitatvalencia, dancers @sandra.egido and @ivan.sier turned Gradas into a stage, exploring our seating collection through movement and bringing to life the social spirit of the public squares that inspired it.

Thank you to Sancal for making room for experimentation.

The future of our cities may depend less on what we build next, and more on what we choose not to discard.

For World Architecture Day, we could have talked about UNS projects. But honestly, none of it would be possible without the people behind them: the ideas, expertise and commitment that bring our work to life every day.

Thank you to the global UNS team.

EcoPod transforms a 75 m² courtyard at our Amsterdam office into a living garden.

Created with @vic_landscapes, its shade-loving planting brings colour, calm and a little more room for pollinators into the everyday.

A reminder that nature can start right at the doorstep.

As Europe’s energy transition accelerates, technical infrastructure systems face growing pressure to perform while responding carefully to their surroundings.

We see this as an architectural opportunity: bringing technical precision, operational performance and spatial quality together.

From laboratories designed around advanced equipment to highways, waste facilities and electrical substations, each project responds directly to complex technical demands. Form, material and landscape help reduce visual impact, organise movement and establish a considered civic presence.

Explore these featured infrastructure projects via our website, link in bio.

What would a cultural living room in your city look like?

Our competition design proposal for Theater Lampegiet in Veenendaal imagined a theatre shaped by everyday life as much as performance.

At the centre is a generous foyer that connects the main hall, black box, cinema and cafe into one shared social space. The design draws on Veenendaal’s textile history through woven brickwork, perforated masonry and a roofline that gives the building its silhouette. The facade filters light like the trees in the nearby park, softening the edge between inside and out.

We saw it as a place for the city to gather throughout the day, not just when the curtain goes up.

We think tension can be productive.

Created for Stress Relief, the exhibition travelling from Shenzhen to Rotterdam @nudus.eu, our custom punching bag - Reciprocal Tension - transforms social pressure into physical movement.

With every strike, tension shifts into motion, release and rebalancing. by @ben_van_berkel

Cities are more than collections of buildings. They are living systems shaped by movement, climate, public life and the relationships between people and place.

Across these five projects, we use urban design to create value beyond the site: connecting communities, supporting nature, enabling more sustainable mobility and giving people better ways to live, work and meet.
