This summer at the @ffs_budapest residency at @kovagoors_alkototabor , the central theme was “Transparency”—a prompt that led me to reflect on the current cultural state of Hungarian art and ultimately ask the participants to hit each other. Today, the contemporary Hungarian art scene is defined not by collective advocacy and professional solidarity, but by fragmentation, mistrust, and hidden rivalry within an existential arena. While László Beke’s iconic 1971 *Handshake Action* was rooted in solidarity and community networking, the present landscape manifests as its stark inverse: starved of resources and visibility, key actors—galleries, associations, and the artists themselves—frequently operate to drain rather than build up one another’s momentum. This self-destructive dynamic leaves the artist trapped as both a victim of the institutional system and an active perpetrator of its internal conflicts. by @benedek.csaba_

As a first-year student, I decided to gain a better understanding of contemporary art by aiming to visit at least 75 exhibitions. I ended up visiting 97. I highlighted my 5 favorite ones that touched me deeply in red, and marked a +1 in blue.

I chose mumok because of an Allan Kaprow piece called Push and Pull. Mother with Her Child made it into my top list for making me realize how important mothers are in their children’s lives, and how grateful I am for mine. Dawn to Dawn stood out for its massive scale and the immersive world I could enter at the exhibition center. Drift of Grounds was the first exhibition where I truly saw how much work goes into a show and how crucial mutual support is in our small art community; it was also very touching that my father came. Art in the Age of Artificial Intelligence was probably my absolute favorite, and Generation 2026 at Amos Rex became the +1 because it was shocking to see how much funding and how many opportunities young artists receive in other countries. I hope we will have that here one day, too.

I visited these exhibitions between September 2025 and August 2026, and I am truly grateful for every single one of them. by @benedek.csaba_

2 performance based speed dating videos I created with Eszter. The first video was made in 2026 March, meanwhile the second one in September. The videos are part of my synthetic intimacy related work named Would You Still Love Me If I Were Generated By You? ( A speculative approach to modern love life)

While producing the second video, I was profoundly struck by the rapid evolution of synthetic video generation over such a short period. The medium has advanced significantly in image resolution, transition fluidity, and the rendering of complex physical interactions, particularly in the nuance and realism of human gestures and spatial interplay. by @benedek.csaba_

AI-generated self-portrait.
AI-generated profile of Eszter.

I asked AI to construct her personality, backstory, and a curated list of pros and cons of being my partner. From there, I built a virtual Bumble profile and projected her onto a billboard at Oktogon—a digital entity greeting me every morning on my commute to MOME.

Once our paths crossed, the boundary between synthetic design and reality collapsed. We became the faces of Bumble’s campaign, co-branding the concept of virtual love.

“Would You Still Love Me If I Were Generated By You?”
(A speculative approach to modern romance)

Developed this winter during a period of solitude—an auto-ethnographic exploration testing the psychological weight of synthetic intimacy and fictosexuality. After meeting my real partner, simulating desire began to feel like infidelity. I shelved the work. by @benedek.csaba_

Would You Still Love Me, If I Were Generated By You? (A speculative approach to modern love life) is
currently on view at @kontext.festival in Székelyudvarhely.

The ongoing project explores synthetic intimacy, fictosexuality, and algorithmic longing—tracing an auto-ethnographic arc from generating AI partners and virtual doubles to navigating a long-distance relationship through digital proxies.

Full story and project details are documented in the slides above. taken in Ai Love You by @benedek.csaba_
