Sightline: Exercises in Attention – An exhibition by the new members of FFS

Opening: 2 October, 2026, 8 pm.
CEU Nyitott Galéria, @ceunyitottgaleria
The exhibition is on view from 2–22 October, 2026.

Making the invisible visible is a recurring question in photographic practice. How does becoming acquainted with an unfamiliar phenomenon interact with the challenge of capturing something familiar?

The exhibiting photographers approach the familiar and the unknown from different perspectives. The viewer can gain insight into physical or mental spaces that are hidden and intimate in everyday life. Going beyond the typical showcase of new members, this exhibition guides us into spaces that are less explored.

Exhibiting artists: @benedek.csaba_, @sondor8d, @ferenczidani, @lakosmate, @zsofimajercsik
Curators: @esztermacska, @dom.ferenc, @_szofis

Coordinators: @dorothy_balko, @szoverffi.adrienn
Graphic design: @peti__toth, @bobbej
The exhibition is supported by the National Cultural Fund of Hungary.

Ezúton is köszönöm nektek!

Most of the time, human hands can reveal more about the person attached to them than their face or words. They can move without us thinking about them, autonomously, living their own lives, operating on the periphery of our consciousness. Besides that, they provide the sense of touch, which is the most direct form of connection; it’s not by accident that we shake hands when we meet.

So, on the first sweaty night of the camp, instead of sleeping, the idea came: if I want to see through the people around me, then I only need to propose to them and ask for their hands. This way, these photograms were born, for which limbs provided by others and myself were used, combining them into shared collages. Our stay’s keyword was “transparency,” but visually my project is just the opposite of that, because only the impenetrable parts of everyone got imprinted, and they got mixed as well. But still, I believe that the process itself made my acquaintance more transparent with every participant during the time we spent together in the darkroom. So thank you all!
