“The Sanctuary of the Lost Explorer” by Bea Rodriguez

The project primarily integrates the architectural narrative of "The Planet as a Festival," published by Ettore Sottsass in 1972. A project in the form of a text and a series of drawings described the possibility of land where all humans are free from work and social conditioning and where there is no architecture left to design. All that is left to architects in this condition is to imagine an architecture designed by "others." The creation of a new typology.

The project is a narrative of a ritual-based architecture - the ritual of connecting to the higher self and exploring the union between the body, the mind, and the quixotic interdimensional realm of the subconscious, now a rotten ideology to human growth and evolution. The integration of the Orion Correlation Theory aims to elevate the human consciousness and its connection to the spiritual and divine realms - utilizing the subconscious mind to heighten one's existence and live at a maximum level. The creation of a fictional site in isolation from the current reality as a form of escapism from the three-dimensional world.

THE MOST BEAUTIFUL HOUSE by John Go
The project aims to create a multi-purpose program (a residence and an office), into a very public site. Retail shops and public buildings surround the vicinity. The main challenge was
to bring privacy into the home without building an obvious walled barrier that would alienate it from the site. We proposed to build a strip that would run along the lot boundaries, and then
let the structure continue and insert itself into the inner lot. This would create a barrier of public spaces in the outer wall that
would complement the surrounding site, and then unifying it with the private residence inside the lot.

To produce a form that unified the public and the private spaces, we looked into the surrounding structures and found that many structures around the vicinity also had a public program at the base in reaction to the street, but housed residential spaces above it. This can be further developed if we experiment with the floor plate and create different ramps and varying heights of spaces. This will make the circulation playful, without sacrificing the program.

To begin discovering the final form, we began the process by studying how the sun and wind affects the site, and we came up
with a 2 storey diamond-shaped form. The structure was sliced along the East-West axis so that windows can be exagerated
along this side without the sun rays coming in directly into the spaces. Then the form was further sliced along the North-East and South-West axis so that spaces can cross-ventilate properly parallel to the wind directions.

EVERYONE IS INVITED! The Center for Campus Art of the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde and The Authenticity Zero Collective is having a unique collaboration for an exhibition about architecture and contemporary art. The project will explore the poetic cross-fertilization process of architecture and the visual arts. Using the physicality and the abstract idea of the city as the interface for multiple interrogatory mash-ups, the project aims to create hybrid processes that can be useful to any creative endeavour or discipline.

PROLOGUE A series of online talks that will discuss the theoretical and philosophical frameworks of the project will be opened to the general public. This series of colloquium is through the platforms of The Brown Bauhaus: Exedra and Benilde Architecture: Soapbox. For the alpha session, Mark Alnas of HATCH Design + Research Group/TAZC and Gabriel Luis Brioso of TAZC will discuss the thesis of Object Oriented Ontology on October 9, Friday at 10am via Zoom.

Ma Jolie “The Elevation” by Marc Raven Tan

Ma Jolie “The Elevation” is a project based on Ma Jolie, a cubist painting of Pablo Picasso. The objective was to create a 3D model heavily influenced by the cubist shapes of the Ma Jolie painting.

風水塔楼 HONG SUI TOWER by Louie Kiu

Entry for eVolo 2020

Exploring the assimilation of a race caught in limbo, this conjecture on Derrida's "Tower of Babel" and principles of deconstructivism is a conglomeration of two, rich cultural fabrics. It’s a narrative of identity parallel to the story of Derrida and the Chinoy, and a metaphor of the heterogenous course of nation building in the future. We deconstruct elements of harmony and peace into an architecture such that it becomes conducive to such conditions in itself.

“The story of Binondo is the story of the Chinese-Filipino. Seizing opportunity at a time of political uncertainty, Binondo went from just another enclave of Chinese in Manila: It became a part of the Filipino psyche itself. Today there are no more sangleys or mestizos or intsiks. There are only Filipinos in Binondo.” (Umali, 2019)
