Baffin Island Expedition 2025.

We're pleased to share that all of our summits have been confirmed as first ascents.

We had an initial false start when high winds turned us around from our intended snowmobile drop off point on the Kingnait Fiord. A couple of days later, on the 10th of April, we opted for a different drop location on the edge of the National Park to avoid further high winds. We spent three days portaging our kit up on to the Nerutusoq Glacier from where we made a couple of first ascents. We then travelled over to the Fork Beard Glacier for our next camp and made another two first ascents and a failed bid on a third peak.

Our plan to move on to the Gateway Glacier for our main objectives was haulted after we were unable to find a traversable pass due to glacier recession and a lack of snow cover. Instead we remained on the Fork Beard Glacier and went on to make another three first ascents on a previously unvisited glacier. Finally, we skied out via the Weasel River Valley over four days and arrived back in Pangnirtung on the 30th of April.

After some consultation with the locals (and pronunciation lessons) the peaks have been named as follows;

1 Uppijjuaq 1823m
2 Minas Tirith 1950m
3 Aqviq 1860m
4 Inutuaq 1637m
5 Ukaliq 1532m
6 Uvingajuq 1615m
7 Atangiijuq 1600m

Something for the weekend?

If you somehow missed it, in January this year myself and Neil Cox completed a 21 day Expedition, in a gruelling attempt to be the first to cross Iceland from North to South in the winter.

June wrapped up!

A month of two halves, a fantastic start with a podium 🥈 at the Rab Scaffel Sky Ultra, some quality family, followed by a slightly turbulent second half where it's been a nightmare to keep on top of everything.

Stats;

208 miles running
70 miles cycling
5 hours strength training.
