How to plan a wacky weekend with your friends:

- Rally your friends
- Book a trip in nature
- Everyone plans a surprise activity and reveals it to group
Cook and eat meals together
- Share the challenges you’re going through and share the wins
- Try to stay off your phone
- Bring art supplies

BONUS POINTS:
- Sing songs together (made up or real)
- Draw portraits of each other and reveal
- Silent Journal time together
- Hike together
- Bring wigs

We do this trip every year and it’s always the weekend I laugh the most.

It reminds me that we just don’t make room for being creative, weird and silly. But when we do, it creates deep connections because we can be fully ourselves.

“We don’t stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.”

Plan a wacky weekend with your friends and live forever!

Milestone: 600 keynotes in the past 5 years 🤯 I finally made a video that represents this momentum that has been building around purpose and mental health. It’s been an amazing journey connecting with so many people around dreams.

Speaking has completely reignited my purpose, at a time when I felt pretty lost. You really can change your life in any moment ⚡️ by @bennemtin

This is a huge problem 🤯 I can not talk about it enough.

How do we not end up regretting our life?

1. Create accountability around your personal goals by writing them down, sharing them and asking friends to keep you accountable.

2. Don’t wait to feel inspired to start, take small steps and build your own inspiration. Create inspiration and momentum by taking action. You will feel inspired once you begin to move. The first step is the hardest.

3. Be brave. The fear will not go away, and that’s ok. The fear is just an indicator that the thing you are doing is important to you. Move through the discomfort and prove to yourself that it is possible, because that discomfort is growth. You will never feel ready so just jump into the unknown.

Consider this: even if you fail, at least you don’t have to think “What if?” on your deathbed.

Each year we take an annual boys trip in nature.

We have one key rule:

Each guy leads a surprise activity on a different day.

Day 1: we played Battleship using walkie-talkies floating on kids’ bounce houses on a lake.

Day 2: we made a one-shot music video.

Day 3: I surprised the boys with matching turtlenecks and took them to a petting zoo for a photoshoot.

Full photoshoot drop on Sunday, follow to check it out.

PS: If you’re thinking about a getaway with friends, do it. And remember: doing weird things together is one of the fastest ways to remember why you love your friends. by @bennemtin

At 22, I dropped out of university because I was struggling with depression. I felt disconnected from myself and had no idea what I was supposed to do with my life.

3 of my friends were feeling lost too. One night, we asked ea other a simple question:

What do you want to do before you die?

We wrote down 100 dreams. Then we borrowed an old RV, bought a camera on eBay, called ourselves The Buried Life and set out to cross off as many as we could.

For every dream we accomplished, we promised to help a stranger accomplish one of theirs. Our goal: film a documentary to show our friends.

We had Motorola Razrs in our pockets and social media wasn’t a thing. There was no business plan. No audience. No guarantee it would become anything. We were four friends with a list, a camera and a desire to feel alive again.

We started with whatever we could do ourselves. We kicked a field goal at a stadium. We started a dance in public place. We helped a guy get his first truck so he could start a business.

Then the project took on a life of its own. People heard about our list and they’d email us offering help. They’d ask for help with their dreams too. So, we kept going, fueled by the response.

Years later, the impossible things on our list began becoming real.

“Make a TV show” became a series on MTV.

“Sit down with Oprah” became a conversation with Oprah.

“Write a bestselling book” became a #1 NYT bestseller.

But the greatest thing that came from that list wasn’t crossing things off.

It was that, at the lowest point in my life, a list of things I cared about gave me a reason to move forward. One dream led to one small action. That action created momentum. And that momentum changed the entire direction of my life.

It taught me that the life you want is in your hands, you just have to be brave enough to go get it. by @bennemtin

I had a keynote in Vail, so I brought the band. We absolutely loved being in the mountains.

The older I get, the more I feel the pull to nature. I’m starting to feel this next chapter of my life will be about finding peace vs finding things to do. Finding green space vs finding people. Finding more quiet moments with my daughter.

Grateful that my job takes me to these beautiful places. taken in Vail, Colorado by @bennemtin

Life doesn’t change in big moments

It changes quietly

One less bedtime

One less family dinner

One less easy weekend

Then suddenly that thing you thought would always be there, is different… or it’s gone.

This part of your life won’t last, so don’t rush through it while it’s still here. by @bennemtin

Last weekend I went on my annual boys trip in nature.

We have one key rule:

Each guy leads a surprise activity on a different day.

Day 1: we dressed as pirates floating on kids bounce houses in a public lake playing battleship using walkie talkies.

Day 2: we did a photo shoot at a petting zoo wearing cashmere turtle necks and loafers.

For the second year in a row my activity was inspired by my days at NYU film school:

Make a one-shot music video where we pass off the camera to one another to keep the shot going til the end.

What started off as a goofy idea has turned into an annual tradition and a highly advanced bonding exercise where each of us has to work together taking turns as director, dancer, choreographer, and in the case of @seb100things, synchronized swimmer (all of us sprinting between shots to get in frame on time in the background).

Two years in a row, this has been one of the best weekends of my Summer.

If you’re thinking about a getaway with friends, do it.

And remember: doing weird things together is one of the fastest ways to remember why you love your friends.

A Harvard study found that how often you eat with other people predicts happiness as much as income does.

I absolutely love that.

It’s so simple.

It’s not a life hack.
It’s not a productivity system.
It’s not another thing to optimize.

It’s just sitting down with people you care about and sharing a meal.

But modern life makes that feel harder than it should.

We work through lunch.
We eat alone.
We say we’re too busy.

And slowly, life starts to feel a little thinner.

I’m always texting friends last minute: “Are you free for a quick lunch?”

And every time we make it happen, it changes my day. I leave energized and connected.

So this week, ping a friend and chow down together. by @bennemtin
