Most people think they need a lot of willpower to get results.

I don't think that's true.

The fittest people I know have usually built habits, environments and skills that require less willpower, not more.

The goal isn't to rely on motivation forever.

The goal is to become the type of person who can still make good decisions when motivation disappears.

To do this you need to consider who you are as a person and not follow some generic food or exercise plan that assumes you will just grind your way through it.

Real life is not like that, if you basically hate exercise, that is fine, but do NOT try to follow a plan aimed at people who love fitness. You will have much more fun doing a routine that meets you where you are and considers your own preferences.

The same applies to food, most fitness coaches do food prep, obsess over macros and lead a monk like life. If you actually enjoy eating out and having more flexibility then do NOT feel guilty. You can have a much more enjoyable experience and still get results if you tailor your approach to your personality.

What do you think?

I have done loads of hyroxes and similar events yet no video on my page. They have been a source of great fun, weekends away, meeting new people, training focus for me, my friends and clients. I have really enjoyed the spin off hybrid fitness events and the Friday night group, whether that is just 3 of us or 20, rain, wind, snow or heat...we were there 💪💪💪

Hyrox #2 - There are two parts to any fitness challenge, one is whether you are prepared to commit to the task for many months (or years) and be consistent with your training plan. This will put you into a certain fitness bracket when you get to the start line.

The second part is how well do you perform on the day to perform at the top of your fitness bracket. You will never go as hard on your own as you will in a fitness event. Do you give your all and perform at peak for your body. When you do this, you will get a personal best and be surprised by what was within you.

I had a great day at London Olympia for my second hyrox, much better prep this time round so I was in far better shape. I knocked 16 mins off my first one to come in at 1.14.48.

My on the day performance was very good as I left everything out there and don't think I could have given anymore. I died on the wall balls again but have a new plan in place to prevent that as I have 2 more solo hyrox events this year in Poland and Sweden (November and december) with a couple of doubles events before then.

If you ever wanted to do any sort of fitbess event..from a marathon to a bodybuilding show or hyrox to dancing in Notting Hill canrival, then just sign up and get going. The level you are today or get to for the event is irrelevant...what is important is process and experience of commiting and getting better week after week so that on the day you can produce something inside of you that you never knew you had.

Massive shout out to my support team there cheering me on 💪❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ @sdoprado @lifeofhoneyhannahh @chrisdofunk @livelikejoasia @dazzydehat @zuleikahenderson @roxynanton @d__k__b

FOOD 101 - These are the basics around food that everyone should know... it is rare that everyone understands these at a practical level (e.g. how you actually act day to day). This is especially true on the point around hydration and general logistics of a plan. #weightloss #healthyeating #sportperformance #personaltrainer #online #battersea #london by @benwilsonuk

- 6 Packs Myths - As someone who has spent years having a 'six pack', the majority of people think you have to be starving all of the time. I find this is totally at odds with my own experience. I spent around six years with a '6-pack' and I was not hungry. It was only after starting the bulking and cutting cycles through bodybuilding that I didn't have abs 12 months a year in an effort to grow my all round physique.

The biggest reason most people can't get a six pack is they have MASSIVELY underestimated how lean you have to get to have one. The majority of peole are just not that great at losing fat, which you can easily learn to be good at with the right programme (DM for more info)

To sustain a six pack, you simply need to avoid gaining body fat. There are probably 30 million people in the country who are sustaining their body fat this week. It is not hard, if you eat too much one meal, eat less the next. Over eat for three days, then under eat for a couple days afterwards. If you just eat what you need then you will be breaking even. This does not have to meal prepped, it doesn't have to be home cooked nor does it have to be super clean.

Another issue is that while going towards a six pack, you will run into a wall of social pressure telling you that you look too thin. You will begin to look much worse in your normal clothes as you get to very lean levels. This is even worse if all your friends are 'normal' and not into health & fitness. There are ways around this issue through clothes, style, training your neck but this is a block most people run into.

Anyone can have a six pack in some form, it may take much longer than you had hoped for or you need to be leaner than imagined but you can get there. Maintaining it is not so hard if you did not lose weight rapidly to get there and have a plan to countact the negative influence of modern life (we all face this issue – see my book>). There are hundreds of thousands of people walking around all year long with abs without too many problems.

Photos - Since 2013 I used bulking/cutting cycles, so don't have abs all year round now. (Couldn't find any 2016 ish pics) #abs #6pack #weightloss #bodybuilding by @benwilsonuk

Follow this chair stretching routine that you can do at your workplace while typing away. Swipe right for the whole video and sounds on for explanations.

There are 7 stretches, half of them you can do while still working and the other half you could do if reading or listening in on a conference call.

The whole routine is shown in the first 15 seconds of the video, with deeper explanations of how to feel the stretches afterwards. Let me know if you have issues with any of the particular movements. #benwilsonuk #flexibility #antisitting #sitting #posture #personaltrainer by @benwilsonuk

Try some of these 9 calf exercise variations for injury rehab, sports or muscle gains. You often think you are working your calves yet large area of the muscle tissue are not being targeted which leaves the muscle weaker, smaller and more prone to injury. These variations allow you to target different parts of the calf itself and thus make progess where you previously may have struggled. #benwilsonuk #personaltrainer #calfrehab #calfmuscles #anklestrength by @benwilsonuk
