Berkeley Travel and @ooaesthesis at the @amfar Gala 2026

A collaboration we’ve been quietly working on for months.

We’ve partnered with One&Only Aesthesis to donate a private stay on the Athenian Riviera, going under the hammer at the amfAR Gala on Thursday 21 May.
Five nights at the resort’s two beachfront villas, Villa One and Villa Nostos. Up to eight guests. A private host. A sundowner cruise.

Putting a lot together at this level takes a long-standing partnership and a shared view on what hospitality can stand for. We’re proud to be doing it alongside One&Only Aesthesis, and proud that one bidder’s five nights on the Riviera will go toward a cause we both care about.

The property, the partnership and the night itself, all to come.

Save this post to follow along, or DM AMFAR for the full lot detail.

New hotels in Courchevel 1850: seven names are arriving at the world’s most exclusive ski address, and most of them inside one square mile.

The pipeline reads like nowhere else on snow. Monaco’s Société des Bains de Mer leaves the principality for the first time with Monte-Carlo One, by Herzog & de Meuron. The Weill family brings Lily of the Valley to the Altiport with suites by Philippe Starck. Raffles learns to ski in 2028, One&Only rebuilds the Courcheneige for 2030, and this December alone delivers La Sivolière’s second act and the Bourbon Hotel, a London club at 1,850 metres. Rosewood, meanwhile, is already pouring vin chaud in the Jardin Alpin.

Seven new doors. One number to call. Enquiries via the link in bio.

Monaco, Starck, Raffles, One&Only. The Jardin Alpin is becoming the most contested square mile in the Alps.

SBM’s first address beyond Monaco, on the old Palace des Neiges site. Herzog & de Meuron on snow.

The family behind Gigaro’s wellness estate takes their formula to altitude: 30 Starck suites at the Altiport.

The grande dame of Singapore, in the Jardin Alpin for winter 2028. Art de Vivre included. @rafflescourchevel

The Courcheneige reborn at the summit of the Jardin Alpin, ski-in ski-out to Bellecôte, private homes attached.

Fifty years a family house. This December, La Sivolière quietly doubles. @sivoliere

Chapitre Six brings velvet, vinyls and Zanoni’s Simonetta to the centre of 1850. Opens 18 December. @bourbonhotel_courchevel

Already open, entering season two: Tristan Auer interiors and the enclave’s biggest suites. @rosewoodcourchevel

Saint Roch Courchevel reopens on 18 December, and it is the most interesting new hotel of the alpine season. Maisons Pariente — the family house behind Lou Pinet in Saint-Tropez, Le Grand Mazarin in Paris and Le Coucou in Méribel — has taken on a true 1850 institution, sitting directly on the Bellecôte piste.

Expect what the group does best: interiors that refuse the chalet playbook. Colour and couture by Friedmann & Versace across 37 rooms and suites, a Tata Harper spa with pool, and a kids’ club done properly. And a story worth knowing: the founding sisters spent their childhood winters in Courchevel, a few doors from Yves Saint Laurent’s datcha. This one is a homecoming.

The first season will book on curiosity alone. Enquiries via the link in bio.

Lou Pinet, Le Grand Mazarin, Le Coucou — and now a Courchevel 1850 institution.

On the Bellecôte itself: skis on at the door, first lift before the Croisette wakes.

Friedmann & Versace, the studio behind the group’s Paris theatrics, cut 37 rooms for winter light — a palette Courchevel hasn’t seen before.

A Tata Harper spa with pool, and the kids’ club that makes it a family address, not just a design one.

Leslie and Kimberley wintered here as children, near Yves Saint Laurent’s datcha. Forty years later, they bought the hotel down the road.

Opening 18 December. The first season of a hotel like this is the one people talk about — enquiries via the link in bio. Saint Roch Courchevel bedroom, reopening December 2026 under Maisons Parient taken in Courchevel 1850 by @berkeleytravel

Rosewood Le Guanahani St Barth is set to become an Airelles. According to industry reports, the handover happens on 1 November — the French house’s first address beyond Europe.

The expansion is gathering pace. Palladio opened on Giudecca in April, the brand’s first step outside France; seven months later it is set to cross the Atlantic. St Barth is the natural landing — the Caribbean’s French capital, met by the name behind Courchevel, Versailles, Gordes and Saint-Tropez. An 18-acre peninsula on Marigot Bay, 66 rooms, suites and villas, and forty years of island history.

Watch this one closely. Airelles does not travel lightly.

Booking enquiries, including stays either side of the handover, via the link in bio.

Courchevel, Versailles, Venice — and now eighteen acres on Marigot Bay. The maison built its name on alpine theatre and French formality; how that translates to trade winds and barefoot luxury is the most interesting question in hospitality this winter. We suspect they know exactly what they’re doing. taken in St Barth by @berkeleytravel

Out now in Forbes Kazakhstan - my take on why luxury travel has stopped being about where you go.

The conversation covered why clients increasingly build a trip around what they’ll actually do rather than the name on the hotel, how that’s reshaped the way we plan, and the routes I think will define the next decade.

Thanks to @taimagambetov and the @forbes_kz team for the thoughtful questions.

The best luxury train journeys in the world are back on the timetable. The Venice Simplon-Orient-Express adds Paris to the Amalfi Coast, Italy has its own Orient Express again, England finally has a luxury sleeper of its own, and Japan’s finest train can still only be booked by ballot.

The sleeper train never really left. It just went quiet, and now every great route is returning: Cape Town to Victoria Falls, Singapore to the Malaysian jungle, and soon the Silk Road itself.

Seven trains worth crossing a continent for, and two more on the way.

Every cabin arranged by Berkeley Travel, with Bellini Club benefits aboard Belmond. Enquiries via the link in bio.

The best luxury train journeys in the world, from the Amalfi Coast to Kyushu.

The best longevity clinics in the world are no longer hospitals with good views. From Clinique La Prairie on Lake Geneva to RAKxa in Bangkok’s Green Lung, the world’s most serious medical retreats now operate to five-star standards, and the world’s most discerning travellers arrive with blood panels rather than beach reads.

Seven clinics, seven different answers to the same question. Fasting medicine on Sylt, food as medicine outside Rome, cellular science in Montreux, a wellbeing island in the Maldives.

The right clinic depends on the question you’re asking. We know them all.

Where to travel in September: the late summer escapes that peak after the crowds leave.

August is when everyone goes. September is when those who can choose, choose. The Mediterranean saves its best month for last: the water at its warmest, the light at its softest, the tables easier and the pace restored. From Andalusia to the Aegean, seven stays that reward the patient.

The harvest in the Val d’Orcia, thermal waters on Ischia, an island returned to its residents. Swipe for the seven.

Every stay arranged by Berkeley Travel, with benefits where you’d expect them. Enquiries via the link in bio.

Where to travel in September: seven luxury escapes that peak after the crowds leave.

@marbellaclubh in September: the beach club returns to a murmur and breakfast under the pines takes as long as it should.

@belmondlaresidencia Deià after the summer: the artists’ village resumes its own rhythm, and the Tramuntana light does the rest.

Ibiza in September belongs to the residents. @petuniaibiza 42 rooms above Cala Gració, is how you join them.

The grape harvest @rosewoodcastigliondelbosco : Brunello country at its busiest and most beautiful, and a working estate rather than a view

The Bodrum peninsula exhales, the Aegean holds its warmth, the yachts thin out. @thebodrumedition

Rome after Ferragosto: the city as the Romans intended it, from a terrace above it all. @hoteledenrome

Ischia’s thermal waters, a Saracen tower in the pines, and the island at its most local. @mezzatorrehotel

Some of the best hotels we book have no brand behind them. No flag, no formula, just an owner with passion, vision and something to prove. These are the independents our guests come back raving about →

#IndependentHotels #BoutiqueHotels #LuxuryTravel #HotelLover

A loyalty scheme can’t buy taste. While the big flags multiply, the most memorable stays in our book belong to hotels answering to no head office. Seven independents worth knowing →

Hotel Esencia on the Riviera Maya doesn’t even put a sign at the entrance. Fifty private acres between Tulum and Playa del Carmen, once an Italian duchess’s hideaway, now Kevin Wendle’s art-filled labour of love. The unsigned entrance says it all. @hotelesencia

JANEIRO Hotel in Rio is what happens when Osklen founder Oskar Metsavaht turns his eye to hospitality: 51 rooms on Leblon beachfront, blond freijó wood, his own photographs on the walls, and Cristo framed in the window. Rio’s most quietly confident address. @janeirohotel

Palm Heights, Grand Cayman turned Seven Mile Beach into a creative clubhouse — @gabriellakhalil seventies-inflected vision that swapped resort formula for artist residencies and the best pool scene in the Caribbean. @palmheightsgc

Le Sirenuse in Positano has been the Sersale family’s home since 1951, and it shows in every detail — the Franco’s Bar aperitivo, the Michelin-starred terrace, the sense that you’re a guest of the house rather than a room number. The Amalfi Coast’s beating heart. @lesirenuse

Passalacqua on Lake Como is a 1780s villa reborn by the family behind Grand Hotel Tremezzo — 24 rooms, terraced gardens to the water, and hospitality so personal it’s repeatedly voted among the best hotels in the world. Independent, and fiercely so. @passalacqualakecomo

Jnane Rumi is Marrakech’s most talked-about new address, and deservedly so. A Charles Boccara-designed villa in the Palmeraie, reborn by Dutch art lawyer Gert-Jan van den Bergh and his sculptor wife Corinne as an eleven-suite house-hotel — Moroccan artists on the walls, 150 century-old palms and olive trees in the garden, and a private annex with its own pool for those who want the place to themselves. @jnanerumi

Aman, Belmond, Four Seasons, Rosewood, Six Senses, Mandarin Oriental, Dorchester Collection: every luxury hotel brand attracts a certain kind of guest, and after enough years in this industry you can tell which one is yours before you’ve finished your coffee.

An entirely unscientific taxonomy, compiled with affection. The Aman guest who would rather not be perceived. The Belmond guest who considers the journey the destination. The Rosewood guest who found it first, as they always do.

Swipe through and claim your type. Tag the friend whose type is painfully obvious.

Whichever you are, Berkeley Travel books them all, with preferred partner benefits at every one. Enquiries via the link in bio.

#luxuryhotels #amanresorts #rosewoodhotels #luxurytravel #virtuoso

Compiled with affection, from years of watching people check in.

The Aman guest has a favourite monastery. They will not tell you which.

The Belmond guest has never once said “let’s just fly, it’s quicker.”

The Four Seasons guest’s children have a better points balance than you.

The Rosewood guest sent you here. You just don’t know it yet.

The Six Senses guest knows their cortisol levels. And yours, at a glance.

The Mandarin Oriental guest has never once eaten breakfast in a robe.

The Dorchester Collection guest doesn’t confirm the suite. It is simply held.
