The prevailing winds energized the gathering of peace activists today on our fourth siúlóid síochána. It is utterly heartwarming to see month on month the ever increasing community of people who simply want peace in our world.

It is time now that we started to imagine another way for our wounded world. It's time to zoom out, reflect and hope for a kinder more just reality. We can learn from our history and know that we can do alot better. It's time for us to come together to make real change.

It is up to us, individually and within the systems we move in to ensure peace is at the core.

Enough hatred. Enough division. Enough greed. Enough ego driven motives.

Sharon Murphy's beautiful song 'Peace starts with me' was timely and resonated deeply with the crowd. The incoming tide and rolling waves added to the power of this emotive song. The articulate, witty and humane poet Anne Irwin shared a couple of her deeply insightful poems. It was a real treat to soak up this level of talent on a Sunday morning. Thank you to Anne and Sharon for their generosity.

A further thanks to Michelle Ni Chlèirigh @michelle.ni.chleirigh for inviting the gathering to drop into our monthly meditation by the sea. She referenced the importance of peace in a week that will witness the arrival of the warmonger Trump. Each one of us has a roll to play to enable the peace movement.

Thank you also to @droichead_24 @rhonacarroll_ for hosting their inaugural peace walk. It is wonderful to see a collective of peace activists from across communities.

Thank you to all for taking the time and making the effort to be apart of the peace movement.

Peace is the only way @steps4peace

The Galway City Council Arts Office is pleased to nominate Bernadette Divilly to take part in Bealtaine's Artist Care Exchange Programme (ACE).

The Artists Care Exchange is a professional development programme that supports artists to engage creatively within care settings, fostering meaningful connections, shared learning, and creative experiences with older people. Through mentoring, peer support, and practical engagement, the programme explores the role of the arts in enhancing wellbeing, communication, and quality of life.

A socially engaged dance artist, Bernadette brings together her contemplative dance practice and extensive experience working with older people. Through ACE, she will explore how dance, movement, and creative exchange can foster wellbeing, meaningful connection, and communication within community care settings.

Bernadette's practice is rooted in cultural diversity and intergenerational engagement, recognising dance as a powerful form of communication that celebrates different experiences, perspectives, and stages of life.
------------------------
Tá áthas ar Oifig Ealaíon Chomhairle Cathrach na Gaillimhe Bernadette Divilly a ainmniú chun páirt a ghlacadh i gclár Artist Care Exchange na Bealtaine.

Is clár forbartha gairmiúla é Artist Care Exchange a thacaíonn le healaíontóirí páirt chruthaitheach a ghlacadh i suíomhanna cúraim, ag cothú naisc fhiúntacha, foghlaim chomhroinnte, agus eispéiris chruthaitheacha le daoine scothaosta. Trí mheantóireacht, tacaíocht piaraí, agus rannpháirtíocht phraiticiúil, fiosrófar le linn an chláir an ról atá ag na healaíona maidir le folláine, cumarsáid agus caighdeán na beatha a fheabhsú.
Tabharfaidh Bernadette, ealaíontóir damhsa atá gníomhach go sóisialta, a cleachtas damhsa machnamhach agus an taithí fhairsing atá aici ar bheith ag obair le daoine scothaosta le chéile sa chlár.

Tá cleachtas Bernadette fréamhaithe san iléagsúlacht chultúir agus sa rannpháirtíocht ó ghlúin go glúin, trína n-aithnítear damhsa mar fhoirm chumhachtach cumarsáide a cheiliúrann eispéiris, peirspictíochtaí agus céimeanna éagsúla den saol.

The Summer rain fell on our third siúlóid sióchána, yesterday Sunday the 2nd of August. However, it didn't dampen the spirits of the ever increasing community of peace activists @steps4peace

We gathered, connected, embraced and deepened new and old friendships as we once again set off in solidarity along the prom.

People travelled and made the effort. One lady drove up from Cork on her own that morning to be apart of the peace movement. She wrote some words and channelled her pain at the steps in Blackrock.

It feels like the weather keeps trying to test us. However, the hardcore peace activists won't back down. We'll keep pushing and prioritising peace in our communities and further afield.

This month's peace walk was framed within the context of peace is not merely the absence of conflict but the absence of racism, homophobia, sexism and any other form of discrimination.

Michelle Ní Chlèirigh @michelle.ni.chleirigh once again opened and held a beautiful mindful meditation by the sea. This allowed the group to settle at the steps at Blackrock and drop into another level of awareness.

Our newly appointed Mayor, Helen Ogbu @iamhelenogbu spoke courageously and with an open heart to the narrative of racism in our world. She spoke about a need for more compassion, dignity and respect to humankind. A powerful message that unfortunately still needs to be told today.

This was followed by a gentle invitation to 'dance dates for peace' by the deeply attuned somatic psychotherapist Bernadette Divilly @bernadettedivilly here we dropped into awareness of the elements around us and deepened into a healing space from within. The brilliant and dynamic Sailhymn Ò Neart @sailhymn added his beautiful tones and catchy melodies to amplify our felt sense of the peace dance. Simply profound.

Jude Coughlan @judeglasmara also generously gifted her beautiful words in song and in Irish. Subtle and moving.

Thank you from our hearts to all the performers, walkers, observers, babies in buggies and barking dogs. A special thank you to Donna Keane and Michelle Ni Chlèirigh for their tireless efforts.

Peace is the only way.

The first Sunday of August is fast approaching and once again we are looking forward to coming together in the name of peace.

Our next peace walk, Siúlóid Síochána, will take place on Sunday the 2nd of August at 11.30am from Claddagh hall to the Blackrocksteps. Here like minded people, who disagree with war and genocide and who refuse to look the other way, will walk in solidarity for all the victims of grave injustices.

This is our way of taking time out from our busy lives to pause, reflect and gather good people together in the hope to create a momentum of peace.

After the great success of our last two peace walks where many gathered to take @steps4peace including our great President Catherine Connolly, we are honoured to announce that a very very special gathering of talented artists will join forces at the steps at Blackrock post our walk, to allow us drop into a deeper sense of our interconnected humanity and duty towards the vulnerable and oppressed.

Sailhymn Ó Neart @sailhymn is a singer songwriter and busker. He channels the will of his heart through his music and trusts the message of peace, understanding and compassion will ripple in all who hear it.

Sharon Murphy is a composer, musician and antiracism activist. Her music articulates her lived experience as a Black Irish Woman. Sharon will speak about Irish racism and sing.

Bernadette Divilly @bernadettedivilly is dance artist and somatic movement psychotherapist. She will facilitate DUL NA SÍOCHÁNA, which experiences how the moving intelligence of our bodies is central to healing and our relationships.

Jude Coughlan @judeglasmara is a singer/songwriter, therapist and a decolonial feminist. She believes in the dismantling of whiteness, the freedom of Palestine, in safety for all, power sharing and in responding to hatred and violence with love and beauty.

The aforementioned will all share and gift to us their talents, time and humanity at the steps at Blackrock post our siúlóid síochána. We are very grateful to each one of the artist and appreciate their kindness and generosity to this most urgent cause.

Please help share this peace initiative. Everybody welcome @steps4peace

Join us for our inaugural peace walk/siúlóid sióchána @steps4peace on Sunday 7th of June at 11.30am from claddagh hall to Blackrock steps.

We hope to take some steps 4 peace the first Sunday of each month in a collective effort to prioritise peace within our communities. We, a collective of peace activists, oppose all the violence, hatred, division and injustices that we continue to witness worldwide. We wish to advocate for peace and refuse to look the other way.

If you oppose war and injustice and you wish for peace, come along and share in a collective movement towards peace.

If you can't get to Galway, walk in your own area, where our collective energies can create momentum.

All spectra of society are most welcome; children, dogs, the elderly etc.

We also hope to have some well known faces join us on our monthly walks. The first walk on the 7th of June, will be led by the powerful peace activist, poet, and healer, Laura Murphy @everose Laura will share some words at our destination spot Blackrock steps on 'Fierce Grace & the Gift of Peace’ / ‘Ghrásta Dhian & Bua na Síocháin’

Laura Murphy is a poet, activist and cultural healer whose work bridges ancient Irish wisdom with contemporary movements for peace, social justice, and ecological renewal. She explores how Ireland’s spiritual and poetic traditions can inspire collective healing and global cultural transformation.

Furthermore, the talented and heartled singer Áine Tyrrell @ainetyrrellmusic will gift us a song or 2. Áine is a force. An artist arriving at the precise moment we need. Her emotive songs emanate from deep within. One can't help but feel energised in her special presence.

Thank you @everose @ainetyrrellmusic for gifting your time and talent so generously.

We're looking forward to slowing down, connecting with community and taking some @steps4peace in nature with you.

Bring symbols of peace or wear white if you wish.

Peace is the only way
