Moving out of a sedentary zone matters most!!

The people who were most vulnerable and at a higher risk of cognitive decline benefited most by daily walking. Higher step counts equals slower brain decline.

Even modest step counts for our sedentary folk was associated with meaningful differences in brain health. Among those with elevated amyloid, low activity individuals taking 3000 to 5000 steps per day showed substantially slower cognitive decline and tau buildup compared to inactive individuals.

How lifestyle factors that influence epigenetic modifications. #dna #brainhealthmatters #dementiaprevention #dementia #dnaactivation by @bernicefaure

Natural ways to upregulate (activate or enhance) beneficial gene expression through epigenetics and nutrigenomics-
Dietary habits that turn positive genes “on” without changing our core DNA sequence.

Nutrition and Nutrigenomic: food acts as biological signals that influence gene switches.
*Eat Methyl donors: folate rich leafy greens, avocados, B vitamins, which help regulate DNA methylation and gene repair. Incorporate polyphenols and omega-3s- fatty fish, nuts, berries beans and legumes to reduce inflammatory gene expression and support cellular health. Optimize vitamins D and magnesium- vitamin D regulates a large portion of human genes and supports brain health and longevity. While magnesium acts as an essential cofactor for DNA replication and repair.
Avoid high sugar, refined carbs, and processed items that trigger negative epigenetic inflammation.

I wil share the lifestyle the lifestyle habits that turn positive genes on tomorrow. #dna #dnaregeneration #dementiaprevention #genetic #geneticengineering by @bernicefaure

Scientists discover a protective Gene that could help keep our brains young.

In a study published in Nature Neuroscience, researchers found that increasing a gene called Pla2g2f may help protect the ageing brain from memory loss.

As humans age, both protective and harmful biological processes shape brain health. When the balance shifts in favor of harmful processes, age related change in the brain can accelerate, including synapse loss, disruption in lipid metabolism, and chronic inflammation, said lead researcher Vicidomini.

To identify factors that might counteract these changes, the researchers searched for genes activated in response to synapse loss in the hippocampus, the brain region essential for memory. They focused on dentate granule cells, neurons involved in forming and processing memories.

Their investigation identified Pla2g2f, a gene that produces a secreted enzyme called phospholipase. Its role in the brain was previously unknown.

The researchers discovered that Pla2g2f levels increased in the hippocampus, during ageing and under constructions of brain inflammation. The gene was also expressed at higher levels in older adults whose brains showed signs of Alzheimer’s disease pathology but remained cognitively resilient.

These findings suggest that Pla2g2f could be part of a natural protective process response that helps the brain withstand age-related damage.

More studies are required in humans as this study was performed on mice.

Introducing the B7 PROTOCOL:
The KetoFlex 12/3 eating plan, eat dinner 3 hours before bed, and fast overnight for a minimum of 12 hours. Eat quality protein, healthy fats, and fiber. Eat whole home cooked food and eliminate sugar and processed foods.

Exercise daily: we have so much supporting evidence on the brain health benefits of exercise.

Sleep enhances our ability to focus, learn, memorize, and make logical decisions. Quality sleep is critical for brain health.

Stress: Chronic unresolved stress causes structural brain change and cognitive decline.

Brain stimulation: Our
brains continue to grow new brain cells throughout our lives in response to social and mental stimulation.

Detoxification: Toxins are found everywhere. Quantify your toxic burden through lab tests. Breath clean outdoor air. Remove mold. Drink filtered water. Create a Toxin free home by using natural cleaning materials.

Supplementation: You may need many when you start this protocol, but as you improve your diet, heal underlying insulin resistance and gut health and other potential contributors to cognitive decline, your need for supplementation may be dramatically reduced. In certain muscle cell types, exercise changed chemical marks on DNA that help regulate gene activity. These marks are added through a process called DNA methylation. This allows this form of epigenetic regulation to have lasting effects on how particular cells and tissues behave.

Exercise is truly medicine for body and brain 🧠.

It’s not only alcohol that causes high uric acid and gout. The sugar in the vast majority of soft drinks/fizzy drinks is at least 58% fructose, and the sugar in the three most popular soft drinks, Coca-Cola, Sprite, and Pepsi, can contain as much as 65% fructose.

Fructose increases uric acid levels in our bodies, causing gout, high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, sleep disorders, non alcoholic fatty liver disease, and cognitive decline.

John Hopkins University scientists showed in 2007 that even mildly elevated levels of uric acid increase the risk for cognitive decline among the elderly. Researchers also found that ultra processed foods tended to replace healthier options rather than simply adding them to people’s diets. Among the heaviest consumers of Ultra processed foods, whole and minimally processed foods made up just 41% of their daily food intake, compared with 68% among those that ate the least processed foods.

Choosing more fruit, vegetables and whole unprocessed foods is a simple way to support long-term brain health.

Why do we need to avoid industrially farmed produce.

Farmed salmon contains high levels of pollutants- industrial toxins linked to cancer, immune system problems, dementia and developmental issues in children.

Industrially farmed livestock such as beef and chicken also carry a number of health risks because of the antibiotic and growth hormones they are given, which we ultimately consume.
