Baby steps… but this one feels so good!!

We got 3 quails & their coop 1.5 years ago. Several rounds of hatchings & lots of learning later… 🥚💕🤗

We spent 10hrs…
Setting up temporary accommodations
Emptying poopy straw into the tumbler compost.
Rinsing, soaping, scrubbing, disinfecting coop & accessories
Alterations to coop & platform
Setting it all back up
… Also, chasing the quails that escaped their temporary accommodations 🤣 FYI: Quails can indeed squeeze thru doggy ex pens!!

Sunday morning vibes!! 💕

Sipping coffee ☕️ watching Dante try to catch dust floaties in the sunbeam 🤣 & Neesa just happy to be napping in it 😴

Still learning about keeping quail. Thought feed was all about protein, protein, & protein! 🐥🐥🐥

Had them on #1 @ 25%. Found #2 @ 26% - 1% more, $10 cheaper! Switched in Dec so didn’t notice anything until egg production didn’t come along with the longer days. Started mixing in #1 again & eggs came within days!!

In case there are any bubble tea-loving gardeners like me… chapstick lids fit over the fat straws perfectly!!

My bubble tea cup is perfect for taking a good amount of water out to the garden as I putter around & now safe from bugs!!

Same hatch - Now vs Oct!!
Triple speed zoomies 🤣

Mine are all adults now & I’m fighting against every urge to hatch more, more - I want chicks!! 🐣🐣🐣

But I’ll never get tired of the quiet murmurs punctuated by the odd crow. Curious bobbing. Fluffing & burrowing in the straw & sand.

I❤️Quails
