Finally found time to share some shots from yet another fantastic Beck show in support of his new album, “Ride Lonesome.” I included short clips of “New Pollution” (“Odelay”), “The Golden Age” (“Sea Change”), and Neil Young’s “Old Man.” Beck told the story of the first 2 real concerts he ever attended were at the Greek — the second one was a Neil show (which he had to watch from the hillside because he didn’t have a ticket). taken in Greek Theatre by @bernstorm5000

If you’ve followed me for a while, you may remember I almost always post something to celebrate Jim Henson’s birthday (though I hardly contain my Henson/Muppet posts to just September 24th). Today, Jim would have been 90.

Here is a CBS “In the News” segment that ran as an interstitial during the network’s Saturday morning kids’ programming in June 1981. Admittedly, Jim isn’t seen in this video, but it’s a rare look inside the Muppet Workshop in New York, featuring Faz Fazakas and Calista Hendrickson at work. The Workshop was a predecessor to today’s Jim Henson’s Creature Shop in New York, which I had the chance to visit back in March.

I thought I’d share this blast from the past from my own archive because, as far as I know, it hasn’t been available anywhere on the internet — until now.

Tim Curry was central to one of my favorite days working at Disney. It was my first year at the Studio, and amidst the rest of my slate I was assigned to work on Muppet projects. My first two titles were special-edition DVDs of “The Muppet Christmas Carol” and “Muppet Treasure Island.”

As a huge fan of Chaplin, “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” and the Muppets (especially these two movies), it’s no wonder it became such a special memory for me. I was going inside the gates of Charlie Chaplin’s former studio on La Brea to meet and interview Brian Henson (in Charlie’s old office), Kirk Thatcher (who became a friend and colleague on future projects), Steve Whitmire with Kermit and Rizzo, Dave Goelz with Gonzo, Bill Barretta, and yes — THE Tim Curry.

Here is one short piece I produced for the “Treasure Island” release. I believe it was the first time that Long John Silver puppet — gifted to Tim at the end of production on the film — had been puppeteered for any production. As you can see, Tim let me give his felt facsimile a go, too.

Meanwhile, here are a few other keepsakes I’ve gathered over the years: a matchbook and bumper sticker from my first time seeing “Rocky Horror” in a movie theater (at the Varsity in St. Louis during my freshman year of high school); the picture-disc album I bought soon after that screening; my copy of his “Fearless” album and an original ticket stub from my collection for one of Tim’s 1978 concerts at the Roxy (no, I wasn’t there); a flyer from a “Rocky Horror” promotion we did during my time in college radio; some “Rocky Horror Show” memorabilia from a Roxy exhibition at the Grammy Museum in 2024; and the invitation from the Fab LA Gallery show opening last December. The black-and-white contact sheet is one of Mick Rock’s from the book.

Needless to say, it’s sad he is gone. But, to borrow from Riff Raff, he remains here… in spirit, anyway.

Absolutely tragic news about the loss of Glen Hansard. I first got to see him play (with Swell Season bandmate Markéta Irglová) back when ONCE premiered at Sundance. Here is video I shot of his duet with Eddie Vedder on his Oscar-winning song, “Falling Slow” (at Ohana Fest).

A lovely evening celebrating 30 years of IndieWire with colleagues and friends, old and new. Congratulations to @eugonline, @cheribarner and @unrepentant_leftist, who originally formed iLine, which quickly evolved into IndieWire, and to @danalharris, @jamesisrael_iw and the rest of the current IW team.

We definitely missed other friends who were integral to IndieWire’s history, including @hereisjones, @dibecka, @karolmarteskofenster, @pudnyc, @timlatorre, @antkaufman11201, @erickohn, @jerylladler and so many more.

Once again hanging backstage with MADJB, then onstage to celebrate the Knicks clinching the championship for the first time in 53 years, and a jam-packed crowd feasting in the formidable catalog of William Martin Joel.

BTW, David and Ken’s ridiculously funny new movie, “Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass”( which premiered at Sundance and killed at Tribeca last week) opens July 10. I can’t wait to experience it again. taken in Lodge Room Highland Park by @bernstorm5000

A slightly chaotic Thursday bookended by a special morning at the long-shuttered Johnie’s Coffee Shop on Wilshire and a celebration of 30 years of IndieWire (yikes) and a salute to their latest batch of television trailblazers.

First up, an exclusive Los Angeles Breakfast Club trip to Johnie’s (an LA landmark) for Gary Baseman’s great art show, “Off the Menu.” You have until June 14 to catch the show and go inside Johnie’s (which first opened as Romeo’s Times Square in 1956).

After a busy afternoon, it was off to another edition of IndieWire Honors at Nya Studios West in Hollywood. Among the honorees were Nick Cage, Michelle Pfeiffer, Erika Alexander, Rebecca Miller, Asif Ali (along with Saagar Shaikh for “Deli Boys”), and Rhea Seehorn from “Pluribus.” by @bernstorm5000
