Summer with BERYENI @beryeni__ in a Kominka.

The first time I saw her handmade pieces, I felt an instant familiarity—they fit so beautifully with the colours of a Japanese summer.

You never know where meeting an artist will take a conversation. We ended up at a picnic table outside a café in Victoria Park, Komorebi (dappled light) on the grass, talking about Japan like we’d known each other for years.

日本の古民家(Kominka)で過ごす、BERYENIとの夏。

私が初めて彼女の手仕事を目にしたとき、なんだかすごく懐かしい感覚になった。彼女の作品は日本の夏や色合いに親しみやすく美しく溶け込んでいました

私たちはヴィクトリア・パークの木漏れ日(Komorebi)の中でいろんな話をした。会話を重ねていくうちにまるで昔からの友人のような感覚でふたりで日本のことについて愛おしく語りました
