There’s a lot of things that people do on the Mississippi River…

But floating down it… in a hot tub… is not one that most have done… until now!

Insert @mnhottubboats 🛁 + 🚤

Matt Witt is a MN resident, avid traveler & Founder of this experience.

He first came across the concept in Seattle & knew it’d be a hit back home.

After months of research, convos with local + state govt officials & hot tub companies, the vision became reality this past May.

What exactly IS a Hot Tub Boat?

Exactly what it sounds like… a floating spa that also doubles as a boat!

🛁 It holds up to 6 ppl or 950 lbs (whichever comes first)

🛁 You must be 21+ to drive & 13+ to ride

🛁 Powered by an electric motor (goes up to 6 mph) & heated using propane

🛁 Temp ranges from 101-104* but if you get too hot, you can turn the heater off or sit on the sun deck

🛁 Boats are manufactured by @spacruzzi out of Montana

The Hot Tub Boats are located at Boom Island Park.

There are bathrooms available at the park, a changing room on site & secure area to keep items you don’t want on the boat with you.

You can take the boats up + down the river between Nicollet Island Railway Bridge & Broadway Bridge.

If you just want to float & not worry about exploring, you can always hang out at the dock or motor across to the barge tie ups & hang out as well.

If you’re wanting to plan a unique + fun day in the city + on the water, this should be on your list!

Food isn’t allowed on the Floating Hot Tub boat, but Boom Island is one of the best parks in the city to have a picnic before or after your float!

They also recently launched a “Captained” Pontoon, where a licensed “Captain” will take you out on the river. That experience includes an inflatable hot tub, additional seating area & allows food + drinks!

You wouldn’t know it based off of this weekend, but we are in Fall and these days will be fleeting — so make sure to book experience before it’s too late!

Abandoned for ten years. When the door was finally pushed open a rush of air slipped past us. As we stepped inside the temperature dropped. The hairs on our arms stood up. Something was still here and perhaps had been here the whole time…

Join us on Halloween for a garden party at the John Cook House.

3:30 - 5:30pm: Pumpkin Carving Contest: Drop off your already carved pumpkin or carve one of ours (pumpkins donated by the Lower Northeast Neighborhood Association @Lower_NE, while supplies last). Children must be closely monitored by a parent. Feel free to take your carved pumpkin home.

5:30 - 8pm: CANDY! Trick or treating at the John Cook House. Bring the kids and hit several of our trick or treating stations around the yard (think trunk-or-treat). No one over 116 allowed.

5:30 - 8pm: Judging! Costumes and pumpkins will be judged by a jury of your peers (other partiers). The longer you and your costume hang out, the more votes you are likely to get. Expect categories such as best Victorian ghost, best steampunk costume, cutest kid award, scariest pet award, best “There was a Theme?!” costume, and so on. Same applies to pumpkins.

6:30 - 8pm: The Jacle Halloween Bike Ride. This haunted tour of the grizzliest places in Northeast comes with a trigger warning. Meet @RecoveryBikeShop. Ends at the John Cook House. You will actually be kinda freaked out after this.

8 - 8:30pm: Costume runway and awards!

There will be bonfires. There will be surprises. There will be horrors you won’t want to miss!

Come in costume. Come as you are. But come.

For this pop up, @binas_mypls offers its own separate cocktail menu with spooky drinks and their regular food menu! I enjoyed the overall vibe with Doll decor & scary theme! They truly did a great job decorating their space. The drinks are definitely strong—my favorite was the Annabelle’s conjure! Plus the bina’s burger is SOLID along with the pickle fries and drug rub wings! Check this POP UP out for a spooky evening in Minneapolis with friends or for a great date night out! Cheers 😬🎉
