Do you run around morning, noon, and night trying to meet new people or spend all day on Zoom networking events and at the same time you have hundreds, if not thousands of connections on LinkedIn that you either don’t know at all, don’t know well, or have lost touch with?

These are like diamonds in your database and I can show you how to mine them and what to say to reconnect appropriately.

Friends on Long Island, you are invited to attend my program “Finding Diamonds in Your LinkedIn Database” on October 22nd at the Miller Business Center within the Centereach Library. Networking begins at 8:30 AM, and the program beings at 9:00. Attendance is free.

Could it be possible that the LinkedIn feed has become such a bubble and so full of AI slop that many people are abandoning the platform? Many people on Threads certainly seem to think so.

Just imagine if there was another way to use the platform, as a networking and relationship tool first, and publishing tool second.

Are you open minded to an experiment?

This coming week spend your time there doing these things:

1. Download and analyze your Connections file.

Who have you lost touch with that could be a good referral partner or prospect? Make a list of 16 people.

2. Reconnect with them in a non-salesy way to set up a time to have a networking conversation.

Note: Do not turn it into a sales conversation. Truly spend the time learning about each other and being curious.

3. Authentically comment on their posts.

That’s it. Strategic and Thoughtful. Human.

Will you accept the challenge?

If you want to do this but would like some advice on exactly how to do it or what to say when reconnecting, feel free to check out the “Get advice from me button” on my LinkedIn profile, to the right of the Follow or Message button, to sign up for a short pick-my-brain session. Since I’m beta testing this new feature, only visible in the US, it’s at a rate that is far below what you’d typically invest for my guidance. by @bethgrangersays

Excited to be beta testing the Advice Session feature for @linkedin and did my first session today. Fellow @exactlywhattosay Certifed Guide signed up to discuss changes to her profile, honoring the industry she came from and deep experience she has, while looking to communicate with the people she is aiming to service today and going forward. Thanks for your trust and for putting this new feature through its paces. by @bethgrangersays

You might not be able to search for your ideal client on LinkedIn.

I said what I said.

You can only search for things that people put on their profile, on their company page, or in their content, so depending on the service or product you provide, you may have to do these things instead:

1. Educate your referral partners so they know when to introduce you
2. Share your expertise through posts, and commenting, so that people know what you do and can reach out when they need you

The video was from a session I did for hearing care professionals. The same advice applies for many attorneys, realtors, and maybe you. by @bethgrangersays

I’m not sure if it’s for you, but if you ever wanted to pick my brain about the following topics, now is the perfect time:

▶️ Anything LinkedIn™ (Most people have many questions)
▶️ How to be more visible to prospects and referral partners, or even hiring managers
▶️ How to network into the right prospects
▶️ How to have more powerful critical business conversations (sales, leadership, or team)

🎉 I’m excited to share that I am beta-testing a new feature for LinkedIn called Advice Sessions.
If you are in the United States, you will now see a button on my profile that says “Get advice from me.”

If you click on that button, you can sign up, pick a time, and pay, right there on LinkedIn, for time with me. The session will be through Google Meet.

Since it’s a bit of an experiment for me, and in beta for LinkedIn, I’m providing a special launch rate so I can help a lot of people and put the feature through its paces.
There are two types of people, those that will jump at the chance to do this and those that have questions about the advice sessions or working with me in other ways. My messages are open there even if we are not connected. (Did you know that’s a setting you can have here?)

Picture me like Lucy in the Peanuts comic strip, sitting at my desk, ready to take all your questions through an advice session. by @bethgrangersays

Owning my own business is the best roller coaster ride I’ve ever been on. It has highs and lows, sometimes in one day; there are twist and turns, and I can’t always see what’s ahead, but I’m in the driver’s seat.

Last week I had the opportunity to celebrate 16 years in business with people from all different communities that I am part of. Just like when I beta-tested LinkedIn Live all those years ago and used it as a way to introduce people I knew to my larger network, or when I held LinkedIn Local Long Island events so people could get to know the “people behind the profiles,” I wanted to do something unique, so I held a business sweet 16 networking party.

I loved seeing connections being made and old business relationships coming back to life through conversation.
Gratitude goes out to:
⭐️ Ray Schwetz for hosting at Jovia Financial Credit Union
⭐️ Ellen Volpe and Gene Brown, for creating a community in American Business Associates that knew I was starting a business before I did
⭐️ Randi Busse for encouraging me to go for it
⭐️ The Social Media Association, National Speakers Association NY Chapter, the Exactly What to Say® community, and people from my geographic community who gave me opportunities to grow and shine
⭐️ The love of my life, for being there for all the moments
⭐️ Thank you for joining me to celebrate in person: Adele Viola, Adrian Miller, Bruce L. Feldman, MD, Chris Kelly, M.A., Digna Jimenez, Donna Rivera- Downey, Frances Mingoia, Francisco Cunha, Frank S. DeRuvo, Franklin Camarano, Jr., Glenn Gordon, Howard Globus (and Deb), Ian Sebbowa, Jillian Weston, Joann M. Robertson CPSI CSP ARM CPCU, Julie Allegretti, Kristina Filippi, Marilynne Rich, Michael Usoskin, Payal H. Mehta, ACC, Pete Fasulo, Peter Shields, MBA, Rich Tavarez, Su Chen, Tom King, Tyrone Montague, and Dr Zakia Ghafari
⭐️ Adina Genn for thinking the sweet 16 networking party idea was worthy of a story in the Long Island Business News by @bethgrangersays

If you’re not active on LinkedIn, you’re missing out on building your professional brand, your business or career, and most importantly, your network.

I was invited to be part of a panel discussion today called The LinkedIn Playbook, hosted by @metricool (A social media management tool for those of you not in this industry) and held at @fabriksocialspaces .

Not sure what it means that I got invited to participate based on a conversation on Threads not LinkedIn, but that’s a conversation for another day. I am loving Threads like I loved Twitter back in 2012.

Some key points from the discussion, Metricool’s study that they shared, and the questions asked by the audience:

1. Personal profile behavior and focus dominates compared to company pages, for so many reasons, including that people like to speak with other humans.

2. Certainly be guided by studies but also look at your own analytics and experiment, experiment, experiment.

3. Be the same person in person, online, in your personal life, and at work. I know this isn’t strictly related to LinkedIn but people often think they have to be a certain way when they post here.

Great to be part of this event and learn from the insights of the other panelists @thewomanwiththeyellowglasses @olga.deandres @annistonward (I am so impressed by all of them.)

Also great to connect with so many other people in marketing, social media, public relations, or that are startup founders.

Two questions for you:
Are you interested in seeing the study? What’s your biggest challenge on LinkedIn right now?

Many people are apprehensive about being more active here on LinkedIn because they know it’s their career at stake and don’t want to do something that could damage their reputations. Some people are too active here with behaviors that do just that.

You’re invited to join me for an updated version of my popular webinar 9 LinkedIn Landmines. I’ll be sharing behaviors to avoid that can both hurt your success here and worse, get your account locked down.

It’s part of International Coaching Week and my friend Payal H. Mehta, ACC will be hosting not just this webinar, but a week’s worth of sessions on different topics.

This session will be Wednesday, May 13th at noon ET.

There’s something powerful about being in a room where everyone is working on their voice.

That was my day today at NSA NYC.

A community of speakers, yes.
But also… real friendships.

The kind where you celebrate each other, support each other, and grow together.
Where you can show up as you are, keep learning, and not have to do it alone.

And today, one thing really stayed with me:

Slides are not there to impress.
They are there to connect.

The session on how to simplify and declutter slides was outstanding—not because of design tricks, but because of trust.

Trust that:
You don’t need to say everything on the slide.
You don’t need to prove everything visually.
You don’t need to hide behind your deck.

When you trust your message…
your slides finally start to support you instead of competing with you.

That shift changes everything about how an audience feels you.

And that’s what spaces like this give you.
Not just skills… but people.

Because in the end, you don’t build your voice alone.
You build it in community.

The numbers are in: LinkedIn has changed (again).
