Third attempt at posting, sorry! Here’s another sneak peak from my London show opening this weekend: 𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘯, 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘸, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘰𝘭𝘥 𝘪𝘴 𝘨𝘰𝘯𝘦, 𝘍𝘰𝘳 𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘐 𝘢𝘮 𝘢 𝘕𝘦𝘸 𝘊𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦. 2023, watercolour on paper, 22”x30" / 55.9x76.2cm. (The title is a remix of descriptors of this image and quotes from Margaret Atwood’s 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘠𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘍𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘥, which was a big influence for me on this body of work. Previews Saturday and Sunday at @motherstankstation in Bethnal Green, in collaboration with @_pamelaweissenberg as part of @condo_complex . I’ve included a couple detail shots to show the lovely way that watercolour does its work. It sometimes has its own plans in how it’s going to flow and stain, and its up to me to follow the paint and work together with it to tell a story I want to tell. taken in Bethnal Green by @bethisms

Last month during my residency at @casawabi, I met up with kids from the nearby community of El Cacalote for a project that combined drawing, costume, and video performance. Inspired by the popular game “broken telephone”, participants made drawings based on misunderstandings, which we then translated via projection into large drawings, and then in turn, created improvisational costumes, which they then wore in brief skits in front of the camera. Thank you so much to Casa Wabi and to @juanpinop for making this project possible. El mes pasado, durante mi residencia en @casawabi , me reuní con niños de la comunidad cercana de El Cacalote para un proyecto que combinó dibujo, vestuario y video performance. Inspirados en el popular juego del “teléfono descompuesto”, los participantes hicieron dibujos basados ​​en malentendidos, que luego proyectamos en dibujos de gran formato. Posteriormente, crearon vestuario improvisado que luego lucieron en breves representaciones frente a la cámara. Just spent a month at the otherworldly @casawabi , making art, making friends, and making peace with extreme climate conditions. It’s hard to describe the experience, the slow adaption to the natural elements at play until you feel like the landscape is part of you. Thank you so much to the incredible Casa Wabi team and my co-residents @lucia_vidales and @jamescasebere , who along with a ragtag group of canine companions, became my strange little family for just a little while. by @bethisms
