Hey there, I’m Beth, a beauty photographer who’s always chasing great light.

I started out as a makeup artist. I love beauty, but I started having this feeling that I couldn’t shake: What if I tried shooting all of the concepts I had in my head? Picking up the camera was a lightbulb moment for me. It was a place where my love for beauty and storytelling could finally live in the same space. I was able to see the creative process through full circle, and it was SO gratifying!

My photography style: Movement, expression, and capturing real moments of authenticity on camera… Often really, really close up.

My shoot philosophy: Nail the brief, keep the energy high, and make the set feel like a place you actually want to be.

A few things that make me, me:
* Motherhood is hard. I have two kids who humble me every single day. Becoming a mom has been a transformation that informs how I shoot and often what inspires me.
* When I’m not shooting or wrangling toddlers, you’ll probably find me in my garden. Gardening is my reset button. It’s a space where I can feel peaceful and alive. There’s also something so satisfying about planting a seed and ending up with something I can actually feed my family. @GroovyDayGarden
* My husband and I live in a 1960s Eichler home we’ve been slowly restoring. @TheEichlerHouse is a labor of love and a constant reminder of how good design and good light can completely shift your mood. It’s been the backdrop to many of my shoots.

I can’t wait to meet you! Let’s make some magic together. taken in Los Angeles, California by @bethsternbaum

Sixty years ago someone drew lines on paper that still stop people in their tracks today.

That is what walking into 17107 Lisette felt like. Not a renovation but the real thing, kept alive by people who understood what they had.

The atrium pulls light through the center of the home all day. The glass does not frame the backyard, it removes the wall entirely. None of it was restored to look original. It is original.

Our job was simple and also the hardest kind. Do not get in the way. Find the angle that Eichler already solved for. Trust the architecture.

We did. And then we let the light close the deal.

Built around water.

Joseph Eichler built more than 11,000 modern homes in California. Only one of his neighborhoods is in Los Angeles County: Balboa Highlands, about a hundred houses in the Santa Susana foothills, built 1962 to 1964.

A. Quincy Jones, Frederick Emmons and Claude Oakland drew them. Every one is built around an open atrium. This one holds a lap pool.

In 2010 it became the first postwar neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley with historic protection. Which is why it still looks like this.

Swipe through. We waited for the twenty minutes that matter.

Our 1963 mid-century Eichler is officially for sale.

It’s hard to put into words what it feels like to say goodbye to a dream.

Nearly eight years ago, we became only the second owners of this 1963 Eichler in Los Angeles. We fell in love with the walls of glass, the mahogany paneling, the atrium, the light, and with the idea of bringing this very special house back to its original beauty.

So that’s what we spent the next several years doing. Not renovating it into something new, but carefully restoring and preserving what made it special, while making it a home for our family.

We watched our kids grow up here, splashing in the atrium pool, playing in the sunshine, pressing their faces against the glass, and filling every corner of this house with toys. There are so many memories tucked into these rooms.

And now it’s time for the next chapter.

Our remarkably preserved 1963 Eichler in the Balboa Highlands neighborhood of Granada Hills is officially looking for its third steward. We hope whoever comes next loves the architecture, the history, and the magic of this place as much as we have.

Here’s a flip-through my 2019 print portfolio for the nostalgia. 📚✨

I was cleaning out my office this week and found one of many time capsules. It’s always interesting to seeing what I loved back then and what I *thought* defined me. The thing I’ve come to learn since then is that what I connect with can be ever-changing. taken in Los Angeles, California by @bethsternbaum
