The Cowboys defense has been an absolute DISASTER to start the 2026 NFL season, and somehow Dallas has gone five games without recording a SINGLE interception 😬

ZERO interceptions through five games is a brutal look for a defense that has struggled to make stops, force turnovers and give its offense any breathing room

Dallas has the talent to be better than this, but the Cowboys cannot keep expecting their offense to carry the team while the defense struggles every week

Is this the WORST defense in the NFL right now? 👀

Josh Allen FINALLY got his first career overtime win 🤯

Allen entered Monday night with an 0-7 record in overtime games, including the playoffs, but Buffalo finally broke that streak with a wild 37-34 victory over the Rams

He finished with 331 total yards and two touchdowns, including 121 yards on the ground, while Greg Rousseau blocked a potential game-winning field goal to give Buffalo another chance

After years of heartbreaking overtime losses, Allen finally got to be on the winning side of one

Could this be the year Buffalo finally gets over the hump? 👀

Justin Herbert has hit a wall, and the Chargers are 0-5 because of it.

Los Angeles led Denver 17-10 midway through the fourth quarter on Sunday and lost 23-17, and Herbert finished 14-of-24 for 121 yards with a touchdown, an interception and a lost fumble.

The season numbers are worse. Through five games Herbert has 937 passing yards, five touchdown passes and seven interceptions, with nine total turnovers. He has not thrown for more than 226 yards in any game. This is a quarterback who made the Pro Bowl last season.

Sunday’s collapse started with a decision on his shoulders. With 10:33 left, the Chargers went for it on fourth-and-1 at their own 41 and Herbert was stuffed on a sneak. Denver tied it five plays later. Herbert then lost a fumble trying to throw the ball away, and threw an interception on the next possession. The Broncos turned both into field goals and outscored the Chargers 13-0 over the final 16 minutes. Jim Harbaugh took the blame for the fourth-down call, saying “I take 100 percent accountability.”

Herbert is not getting much help. The line started four rookies, with Rashawn Slater, Trey Pipkins III and Trevor Penning all on injured reserve.

How much of this is on Justin Herbert, and how much is on everything around him?

No. 1 Texas is no longer unbeaten, and Arch Manning’s fourth quarter is the reason. Oklahoma beat the Longhorns 27-24 in the Red River Rivalry on Saturday when Tate Sandell hit a 47-yard field goal as time expired at the Cotton Bowl.

Manning’s stat line looks fine on paper: 19-of-31 for 260 yards and three touchdowns, with scoring throws to Cam Coleman, Ryan Wingo and Jermaine Bishop Jr. The two interceptions erased it. Peyton Bowen jumped a pass intended for Coleman with 10:07 left and returned it 42 yards for a touchdown. Then, with 19 seconds left in a tie game, Omarion Robinson picked off Manning’s final throw. John Mateer needed two completions to Isaiah Sategna to set up the kick.

Texas had chances to avoid that ending. Gianni Spetic missed a 53-yard field goal wide right with 1:55 to play, and the offense did not pick up a first down on its first four drives.

Oklahoma had not beaten a No. 1 team since 2007. The Sooners are 3-2, and Texas falls to 4-1 and 1-1 in the SEC with Florida coming to Austin next Saturday.

Does this loss fall on Arch Manning, or did Texas put too much on its quarterback late?

Jeremiah Smith is running out of Ohio State records to break. The Buckeyes wide receiver caught four passes for 93 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday’s 45-16 win over Maryland, scoring from 33 and 40 yards out, and No. 5 Ohio State moved to 5-1.

The record book already belongs to him. Smith passed Emeka Egbuka for the most catches in program history, Michael Jenkins for the most receiving yards and Chris Olave for the most receiving touchdowns, and he finished that sweep on Oct. 3 at Iowa with 11 catches for 206 yards. His career line now reads 211 catches, 3,474 yards and 38 touchdowns in 35 games. No other Ohio State receiver has reached 3,000 yards.

The Big Ten is next. Smith sits one touchdown behind Braylon Edwards for the conference career record of 39, and he is 315 yards from passing John Standeford for the most receiving yards in Big Ten history. He has 48 catches, 916 yards and 11 touchdowns through six games this season, and he is the first Ohio State receiver with three seasons of 10 or more touchdowns.

Ohio State goes to Indiana next Saturday, and the Heisman conversation goes with him. A wide receiver has won it once this century.

Is Jeremiah Smith the best wide receiver in college football history, or does he need the Heisman to get there?

THE GUARDIANS ARE ONE WIN AWAY FROM PULLING OFF THE COMEBACK 😳🔥

After falling behind 0-2 in the ALDS against the White Sox, Cleveland has battled back to force a winner-take-all Game 5 on Saturday

José Ramírez came up HUGE in Game 4, homering and driving in three runs to help keep the Guardians’ season alive

No team has overcome a 2-0 deficit in the Division Series since 2017, but Cleveland now has a chance to end that drought

Can the Guardians finish the comeback and advance to the ALCS? 👀

The Chargers are 0-4, and Mike McDaniel is already feeling the HEAT 😬

LA brought in McDaniel to get this offense rolling, but four games into the season, things still haven’t clicked for Justin Herbert and company

Jim Harbaugh is already facing questions about his offensive coordinator’s future, and the pressure is only going to grow if the losses keep piling up

Is McDaniel’s scheme the problem, or is Herbert just not getting enough help?

CeeDee Lamb just had one of the most extreme usage games the NFL has tracked, and the Dallas Cowboys needed every bit of it.

Lamb saw 21 targets on only 45 routes in the 34-30 comeback win over the Houston Texans. Per NFL Next Gen Stats, that is the most targets by any player in a game of 45 or fewer routes since tracking began in 2016. He turned them into 17 catches for 189 yards and the game-winning 12-yard touchdown from Dak Prescott. The 17 receptions are the most ever by a Cowboys wide receiver in a single game.

Houston spent the afternoon rolling extra coverage toward George Pickens, and Dallas answered by throwing to number 88 on nearly half of his routes. It worked. The Cowboys are 2-2, and Lamb leads the NFL in receptions (37), receiving yards (498) and first-down catches (28) through four weeks.

That pace is the real conversation. Four games in, Lamb is tracking toward 157 catches and more than 2,100 yards, numbers that would rewrite the Cowboys record book and threaten the league’s single-season marks. It also means every defense left on the schedule knows exactly where the football is going.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers get the next crack at it on Thursday Night Football. If they sell out to take Lamb away, Pickens and the rest of the Dallas offense have to prove this is more than a one-man show.

Can the Cowboys keep winning with an offense this dependent on CeeDee Lamb, or does a defense finally make someone else beat them?

Drake Maye had every reason to fold in Buffalo. He did the opposite.

One week after a 35-6 loss in Jacksonville, where he threw two interceptions, lost a fumble and got pulled in the fourth quarter, the New England Patriots quarterback walked into the Bills’ new stadium and handed a 3-0 team its first loss of the season, 29-26.

Maye finished 22 of 37 for 269 yards and three touchdowns, added 54 yards on the ground, and did his best work when Buffalo sent extra rushers. He was pressured a career-high 21 times and still went 9 of 14 for 118 yards and all three touchdowns against the blitz.

The finish is what New England will remember. Down 26-21 on third-and-5 with under two minutes left, Maye rolled right and put a ball in the corner of the end zone where only Efton Chism III could get it. Chism pulled in the 23-yard touchdown with one hand at the 1:50 mark, Rhamondre Stevenson added the two-point conversion, and Craig Woodson intercepted Josh Allen to close it out.

It was not clean. Maye still turned it over twice, and the Patriots are only 2-2. But a Bills offense averaging 33 points a game came in unbeaten, and the quarterback everyone spent a week questioning was the best player on the field in the fourth quarter.

The Las Vegas Raiders visit Gillette Stadium next. If this version of Maye shows up again, the AFC East race just got a lot more interesting.

Was Buffalo the real Drake Maye, or was Jacksonville the warning sign Patriots fans should still be worried about?

The New York Yankees are going home, and the drought just tied a number this franchise never wanted to see again.

The Tampa Bay Rays finished a three-game sweep in the ALDS on Wednesday night with a 4-3 win at Yankee Stadium. It is only the second time in franchise history the Yankees have been swept in a best-of-five series, and the first since the Royals did it in the 1980 ALCS.

The bigger number is 17. That is how many seasons have now passed since the 2009 championship, which matches the longest title drought the Yankees have had since they won their first World Series in 1923. The only other one that long ran from 1979 through 1995, the stretch between the Reggie Jackson teams and the Derek Jeter dynasty. One more October without a parade and this era owns the record outright.

Game 3 will sting for a while. Victor Mesa Jr. broke a tie with a two-run homer off Max Fried in the sixth. In the bottom half, Anthony Volpe hit what looked like a game-tying home run, only for it to be ruled fan interference and a double. One run scored instead of two, the Yankees never found the other, and Aaron Judge watched all of it from the dugout rail.

This is a franchise that measures itself by championships and nothing else. Twenty-seven of them hang over every season, and none of them belong to this group.

Is this the offseason the Yankees finally make major changes, or do they run it back and hope 2027 breaks the tie the right way?

The Philadelphia Eagles had 12 third downs against the Los Angeles Rams. They converted none of them.

Philadelphia went 0-for-12 on third down and 1-for-4 on fourth down in a 24-20 loss at Lincoln Financial Field, giving away a 10-point second-half lead along the way. It is the first 0-for-12 game the franchise has had since third-down conversions started being tracked in 1991.

These were not all desperate situations. Five of the 12 were third-and-4 or shorter, and the Eagles still could not move the chains. Rams defensive coordinator Chris Shula sent a blitz on 11 of the 12, and Jalen Hurts finished 12 of 24 for 93 yards.

The game turned on the plays Philadelphia usually owns. Nate Landman stuffed Hurts on a tush push in the third quarter. The next drive died on fourth-and-goal from the 2. Kyren Williams scored twice in the fourth quarter, the second with 1:17 left, and Byron Young closed it out with a strip sack.

The defense did its part, intercepting Matthew Stafford twice. The offense simply could not stay on the field, and it played without Saquon Barkley and Lane Johnson, who has since retired.

Both teams are 2-2. For the Rams, it is a statement road win. For the Eagles, it is a question about an offense that has not looked like itself.

Is this an injury problem that fixes itself when Philadelphia gets healthy, or is the Eagles offense broken?
