Since I’m currently in Palm Springs, California, it feels like a perfect time to share this mod-style card.

This conical-shaped tree die felt a bit vintage to me, in a mid-century way. I brought in a trio of fun bright colors to support that, along with some design elements like the angle and the wavy background texture.

I wanted to add a detail of depth to the trees while keeping them flat, so I placed the die over two shades of the same color, with the seam offset so it creates the idea of a shadow. Once I attached the two pieces of each tree together I used foam to add them to the card for some actual shadow, and finishes off the card with the clean black and white sentiment.

I shared this in a blog hop last week and completely forgot to post it here! (It was a busy week.)

My goal for this card was to create a simple scene focusing on the shapes of the dies in the Trees set from @czdesign & @simonsaysstamp

Cathy created a wonderful little mix of geometric trees, in two sizes, along with some little extra shapes, so I used two sizes of trees and a mix of stars and a die cut greeting — all in white.

Here’s a simple card that has some pattern and texture that keeps it from looking plain. This See The Forest background stamp from @ginakdesigns is a nice one because it has neat rows of lined up trees, but the variation in heights adds a rhythm and visual interest.
I paired it with the smaller pattern of the embossing folder, and added a touch of shine with the white embossed trees and greeting.

For the flowers I layered two different red outlines and offset them slightly so the darker one shows a bit behind.

Look at these Bells dies from @czdesign ! Classic, simple, and just right. With the textures and sparkle on this card, the trio of bells doesn’t need a lot to convey the joyful mood of the Christmas season.

For this card I used a simplified color palette and did my stenciling in mostly purples (with an additional neutral for background, and added the framed “art” onto a deep purple background for contrast. Using foam tape to attach them adds more contrast because of the shadow it creates. I finished it off with some sentiments and garland to reinforce the festive theme.

When I saw that there was a layering moth die included in the Spooktacular Icons die set, it reminded me of the Triangle Moth Die and Stencil set I got a while ago, so I combined the two for this card.

The Stained Glass Snowflake die from @simonsaysstamp is a gorgeous die, and there are coordinating stencils that make it even better. But…

What if…
I just use that die as a background element? I cut it out of colored cardstock and trimmed off the frame to leave only the snowflake shape. I made two and glued them to a background of the same color. It created a perfect background for the stamped and die cut ornaments and sentiment.
