POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Join Cultural Solidarity Project, Be Well Bro & Write Brain TV for super special free Halloween screening of underground Afrofuturist classic Welcome II the Terrordome (dir. Ngozi Onwurah) – a dark film with political poignance, exploring police brutality, hip-hop culture and Igbo folklore 🎃

Despite being the first feature directed by a Black woman to be shown and distributed in the UK, the film was literally almost lost to history when the film rolls deteriorated. But when a renewed interest in the film emerged in the wake of the 2020 George Floyd Rebellion, it was restored. Just this month, it was released in 4k 🔮

Come celebrate this re-release with us in community with a secret short-film to kick it off, and a community discussion to follow. Free snacks and drinks will be provided! 🍿🧃

Free RSVP required (link in bio). See you there 🔥

YOUR PAIN IS PART OF YOUR STORY. BUT IT DOESN’T HAVE TO BE THE WHOLE PICTURE. 🎨

What happens when you stop hiding your hurt and start creating from it?

JOY BEYOND TRAUMA.

We had the opportunity to sit down with one of the most creative, fearless, and honest painters, @telvinwallacestudio, for a conversation that went far beyond the canvas.

We talked about what it means to create from an honest place. The courage it takes to be different. And why sometimes the first step toward healing is being brave enough to speak about what hurt you.

Through his art, Telvin gives us more than paintings. He gives us pieces of his journey, his family, his pain, and his joy.

Every color. Every brushstroke. Every memory.

All pieces of a bigger picture.

Because healing isn’t about erasing what happened to us. It’s about discovering what else is possible beyond it.

And sometimes, the most beautiful thing we can create is a life that refuses to be defined by trauma.

💬 BRO, WHAT HAS YOUR PAIN TAUGHT YOU TO CREATE?

🎥 Tap in. Hear his story. Experience the art.

BE MORE THAN GOOD. BE WELL.

The Be Well Bro Podcast is back with another Drop! | EPISODE 10 🎙️ Live from Rustic Tavern.

This one is about Black ownership and what it really takes to hold the room.

What does it mean to have a space that’s for us, by us? What goes into building it? And what sacrifices have Black men and our people been asked to make just to protect the sacredness of our lived experience?

We didn’t just talk about it. We sat in it, together, with the community in the room.

Episode 10 is out now. Link in bio. 🔗

Friday we were in the room at the CUNY Black & Latino Male Initiative conference, and the conversation was about manhood and masculinity: what we were taught, what it cost us, and what we’re choosing to carry forward. Nobody in that room was performing. That’s what made it land. It’s the same conversation we had in our Special Episode, “Making of a Man.” If this one hit home, that one’s for you. 🎧 Full episode: link in bio. Your lived experience is sacred.

Nobody else has seen the world through your eyes, carried exactly what you have carried, or learned the lessons your life required you to learn.

That makes your experience valuable! but only when you stop minimizing it, comparing it, or allowing someone else to define what it means.

Own your story. Own what shaped you. Own the wisdom you earned by surviving, healing, and becoming.

🎙️ Own the Room, Episode 10 is out now.
Watch the full conversation through the link in our bio.

What part of your experience are you learning to own?

“Are You Sad” daddy?

Coach Coop’s daughter noticed before anyone told her anything. “Are you sad, daddy?”

Kids see what we think we’re hiding. This is the moment from our first special Ep. That stuck with us the most!

Our first-ever Special Episode is here. 🎙️

Sixx and Coach Coop sat down with the cast of @ournameismara for a conversation that goes deeper than usual manhood, fatherhood, mental health, and the questions most men never get asked out loud.

No script. Just honest men talking about becoming who they are.

Your first thought isn’t the truth. It’s a first draft. ✍

Two men lose the same job on the same day. One says, “I’m done.” The other says, “This is a bad month, not the whole story.” Same layoff, completely different six months.

Reframing isn’t “think positive.” It’s “think again.” 🧠

Try this: when a hard thought hits, write it down, then write one other honest explanation next to it.

They told us to hold it together.

Nobody said we could hold each other.

Walked The Armory Show this weekend and stood in front of Kaloki Nyamai’s Tusukane. Yellow like a warning. Yellow like the sun. Bodies laid out, resting, reaching, carrying one another while the world tears at the edges. And I felt that.

‘Cause that’s us, bro.
Artists. Brothers. Builders.
Making beauty out of what’s breaking us.
Painting through it. Stitching through it. Standing in the waves and refusing to move.

Every piece in that room was saying the same thing:
We don’t heal alone. We never did.
Our grandmothers knew it.
The little schoolhouse knew it. The huddle knows it.

So here’s the invitation.
BE Well Bro is building a space where your art gets seen AND your mind gets cared for. Where you can show the work and talk about what it takes out of you to make it.

Artists, creatives, tag yourself or tag somebody whose work deserves the light. 👇🏾
Which slide spoke to you? Drop the number.

Be well, bro. 🖤

“Real strength is admitting when something is too heavy to carry by yourself.”

Coach Coop is writing directly to any brother carrying more than he’s said out loud. This Suicide Awareness Month, we’re not just raising awareness, we’re asking you to actually check on the men in your life. Not “how are you,” but “how are you really.”

If you’re struggling right now, you are not alone, and it is not weak to say so.
