POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Join Cultural Solidarity Project, Be Well Bro & Write Brain TV for super special free Halloween screening of underground Afrofuturist classic Welcome II the Terrordome (dir. Ngozi Onwurah) – a dark film with political poignance, exploring police brutality, hip-hop culture and Igbo folklore 🎃

Despite being the first feature directed by a Black woman to be shown and distributed in the UK, the film was literally almost lost to history when the film rolls deteriorated. But when a renewed interest in the film emerged in the wake of the 2020 George Floyd Rebellion, it was restored. Just this month, it was released in 4k 🔮

Come celebrate this re-release with us in community with a secret short-film to kick it off, and a community discussion to follow. Free snacks and drinks will be provided! 🍿🧃

Free RSVP required (link in bio). See you there 🔥

Sun, Oct 25th
3-6pm

It’s official! “Portraits” will be born on Sunday, NOVEMBER 1st, and so we’re throwing a party to celebrate! 🥳✨🥂

The direct link to RSVP for the book release party is in my bio. We hope to see y’all at the BRO Space Wellness Center on November 1st at 2:30PM EST!
A HUGE shout-out goes to @bewell_bro for sponsoring this event (and for providing us with a space to hold it), as well as to Evan Simone Frazier for producing the event. Without y’all, none of this would be possible! 💯

P.S. For those of you who will not be able to attend the book release party, it’s okay! All I ask is that you get yourself a copy of “Portraits” once it’s out because that’s what it’s really alllll about! THANK YOU! 🙏🏾

Join us for Episode 1 and 2 of Dear Mama, this Sunday, Sept 20! With the culture wars in full swing – and corporate interests looking to control the narrative any ways they can – there is no better time to revisit the story and legacy of Tupac 💜

We love Dear Mama not only because it was made with his surviving family and kin, but because it crucially weaves his story alongside that of his mother, legendary Panther Afeni Shakur, contextualizing Tupac’s life as a continuation of the Panther liberation struggle – complexities and all.

Come watch it in community and stick around for the discussion to follow.

Free RSVP link in bio! Snacks and drinks provided🌹
