10 fun art facts you might not know about me.

1. My mom bought me an airbrush gun and I actually started airbrushing around 11/12 then again in high school.

2. My junior year (I think), I painted a mural on the wall of my high school.

3. Graffiti was my first love.

4. I went to 2 art colleges, but dropped out of both.

5. I come from a family of artists. My mother was a painter and jewelry maker, my sister is a seamstress and can draw really good and even my grandmother was an artist and legend at reupholstering furniture.

6. My beginning years was focused on customizing clothing and I was really good at it.

7. I started drawing on jeans with Sharpies in middle school for money.

8. I tried to be a tattoo artist once. In 2020…I did one tattoo and never another one.

9. Art class (and being a young mom) was the only thing preventing me from becoming a product of my environment.

10. My art doesn’t pay my bills so tbh, I’m scared to venture into this world, but it feels right so I’m sure it’ll make sense later ❤️ by @bexdidit

Part ONE:

Since we’re talking about the 80’s, let’s talk about @teacha_krsone and #boogiedownproductions.

Yall remember when HipHop was educational, nonviolent, had a conscience and WAS political? Back in 1987, DJ Scott La Rock (the other original member of BDP) lost his life to gun violence when he tried to stop a fight. That motivated KRS ONE’S message to transition into social consciousness giving him the label “The Teacher”.

Til this day, he’s continuing his mission and it’s needed now more than ever before!

My mom told me to make art today… so I did.

This mirror was $7 from a thrift store.

The message behind this piece: just because someone no longer found the value in it doesn’t mean it’s not valuable….and even if it’s messy, it’s still a masterpiece.

Lastly, I determine the value.

Before and After

Found this mirror at a thrift store for $9 last year. Finally decided to turn it into something.

Originally, I planned on painting directly on the mirror, but decided to try something else.
