Balcony Transformation: Inspired by the city that I’ve moved to. When I decided it was time to return to the UK, I was considering where else I felt a connection to other than London. One of the reasons I chose Manchester was because I like its history in club culture. Sadly for me, I missed the 90’s here, but I pray for time travel in my lifetime. For many years my career (+ pleasure) was nightlife and a significant part of that was working with Manchester-born club brand Sankeys, in Ibiza. Although I’m more early mornings now, that world is still very much a part of me. Once I do the inside of this apartment, you’ll see many references to it - I have 20 year old club posters ready to get up on the walls. So, the city I now call home inspired this balcony project; its history and my view from it, with its red brick, slices of green and ever growing silver skyline. The chair is the main feature. It went through a lot of trial and error, originally much more colourful and far less abstract. I wanted the smiley motif to feel more subtle and I’m much happier with where I ended up (this chair is so comfy too). Fun cushions travel around the space - part decor, part comfort. I can add to that. The shelving hides my DIY and craft supplies, so I made a curtain for it. It started out white but I dyed it to blend in with the wall so the chair would pop more against it. The walls started off as a lighter shade. I went for a more brick colour to reflect what I see outside and did the ceiling too, which I highly recommend. It sets off the disco ball I brought back from Lisbon. It’s by no means a finished space, but I prefer collecting/making things that I love over time. I am enjoying it (and that view!) for now and will extend and evolve it later. Bedroom next! Bex x 🪑 @dusk.com 🎨 @lick Red 03 Lemme know if you want to know where anything else is from. by @bexpaws_

May my algorithm show me wholesome DIY ideas forevermore 🎨Paint prep before the full transformation that’s about to happen on this end of my terrace ☁️ My insta feed kept showing me the difference when you paint your ceilings the same colour as your walls. Also known as colour drenching. I’m still getting used to the darker tone. But it makes the silver pop and brings in the red brick views I have over Manchester. Let’s see once I’ve done the full project, otherwise i’ll change it x Colour is Red 03 from @lick btw! by @bexpaws_
