🌻 upgrading life after ADHD burnout
✨ the mess + the magic + the mindset shifts
🧡 becoming more you. building a life you love.
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
welcome to beyond burnout ♡

if you’ve been feeling beyond exhausted and quietly wondering...

”what if there’s more to my story than just stress?”

...you’re in the right place.

here we talk about burnout, survival mode, nervous system regulation and late-discovered ADHD.

but really...

this isn’t an account about fixing yourself.

it’s about understanding yourself.

because understanding changes everything.

i’m sharing from the middle of my own story. the burnout that brought me here. the ADHD discovery that explained a lot. and slowly building a life that finally fits.

if any of this resonates...

welcome. i’m really glad you’re here. ♡

there’s more than one way to live a life. 🤍

this is your reminder that you don’t have to keep choosing the version that looks right to everyone else.

you can want more freedom. 💫
more aliveness. 💃
more time. ⏳
more room to be yourself. 🌻
a life that fits your brain. ✨

you can change your mind about what success is supposed to look like.

you CAN start again and build something different. 🤍

this quote stopped me scrolling the other day.

because when you’re burned out, navigating late ADHD, or your nervous system has been stuck in survival mode for what feels like forever… it can honestly feel like nothing is changing.

like you’re doing the work, but not seeing the results.
and that’s rough.

but i’ve realised recovery is rarely one big breakthrough.

it’s hundreds of tiny shifts that you barely notice until one day you look back and realise you’re handling things differently.

you’re a little kinder to yourself.

you understand your brain a little better.

you don’t blame yourself quite as much.

and maybe… those are the flowers.

if today feels heavy, i hope this reminds you that growth isn’t always visible while it’s happening. 🤍

just maybe… 🧡

✨ it wasn’t a coincidence that those particular dreams found their way into your heart.

and maybe there’s a reason you can’t quite let them go, even when you keep telling yourself they’re irrational, unrealistic, or never going to happen…

what if instead of talking yourself out of them, you let yourself explore what’s possible? 💫

you don’t need to know exactly how you’ll get there. you just need to stop deciding it’s impossible before you’ve even given yourself a chance.

maybe it’s time to take those dreams seriously. 🧡

i’ve known for a long time that my current career and lifestyle aren’t for me. i’ve explored different ideas, started things, lost interest, and wondered if maybe i just hadn’t found the right thing yet… 😵‍💫

but i didn’t understand my brain back then.

i didn’t understand why something could excite me so much at first, only for that excitement to fade a few weeks later… or how often i’d mistaken the way my brain works for a sign that something was wrong with me.

getting my ADHD diagnosis gave me a whole new lens to understand myself through. 💫

and the more i learn, the more i question things i’ve always taken for granted. the expectations i’ve tried to meet. the way i’ve approached work. even what i thought my future was supposed to look like.

because maybe the answer isn’t to keep trying harder to fit into a life that doesn’t fit you.

maybe it’s to start imagining what a life that does fit could look like. 🧡

one with more freedom, more joy, more space to be yourself. a life that works with your brain instead of constantly fighting against it.

i’m still figuring out my path. but understanding myself better is helping me see possibilities i couldn’t see before. ✨

and maybe that’s where it starts for you, too.

what if you stopped asking yourself how to make your current life work, and started asking what you actually want your life to look like? 🌴🧡

but what if there’s so much more out there for you than what you’ve always known? ✨

i’ve been questioning what i want my life to look like for a long time, but my burnout and later ADHD diagnosis this year gave me a whole new perspective on myself and the life i want to create.

and honestly? it’s scary to want something you’ve never done before. to follow a dream nobody around you understands. to imagine a completely different life without knowing how you’ll get there…

but isn’t that also where the magic begins? 🪷

you don’t need to have it all figured out. your dreams can change as you grow.

💫 you’re allowed to want more
💫 you’re allowed to do things differently
💫 you’re allowed to go after something just because it excites you, even if you have no idea where it’ll lead.

so maybe it’s time to stop automatically talking yourself out of the life you secretly dream about and start exploring what’s possible instead. 🧡

apparently the “i’ll just do it myself” + “i’m definitely not walking 15 steps back to the car” combination is also an ADHD thing.

at least according to the internet. 🫣

and honestly… i’ve been doing this for as long as i can remember.

i will carry an absolutely unreasonable amount of stuff instead of asking for help. and somehow, walking back to the car to get the rest feels like a bigger inconvenience than just carrying EVERYTHING.

so basically… no surprise the donkey is my spirit animal 🫏 😅

who else does this?? 🤍

just because you haven’t arrived yet doesn’t mean you’re lost. ✨

maybe you’re just between the version of you that you’ve outgrown and the version you’re still becoming.

i know that place well. and i’ve come to realise that that’s where most of the important self growth actually happens.

burnout changed things for me. ADHD made even more of them make sense.

and somewhere in the middle, i started figuring out who i actually am when i stop trying to fit into a life that doesn’t fit me.

if you’re somewhere in that messy middle too, figuring things out and redesigning life, let’s see where this season takes us. 🌻🧡

what can i say, ADHD is strange…

i love this account and all the connections i’ve made here. i love showing up, even though i’ve mostly been confused as i’m still pretty newly diagnosed and recovering from adhd burnout.

this space has been an amazing part of that journey 🧡

and still, after having had one crazy busy week at work, a work trip and then being away for last weekend with absolutely zero time to pick up my phone, followed by me falling asleep with the kids every night this week…

—> my brain literally almost forgot about this account!

there really is something about that whole ’out of sight, out of mind’ saying when you have a brain like this.
and it’s so annoying!!

which now made posting feel like a much bigger thing 😅

but this break did give me time to reflect on things a bit, more on that later ✨

i’d love to know, how are you all doing? 🧡🫶

being tired of constantly managing yourself 😵‍💫 because living with an ADHD brain be like…

•remembering what you were supposed to do

•trying not to forget what you just remembered

•figuring out where to start

•forcing yourself to start (and very likely failing)

•constantly switching from one thing to another

•trying not to get distracted

•getting distracted anyway

•remembering the thing you forgot

•suddenly hyperfocusing on the wrong thing

•trying to keep track of everyone else’s needs (esp ADHD moms, i see you)

•while also trying to keep yourself functioning

and it’s not just the things you’re doing.

it’s the constant effort of managing yourself enough to do them.

no wonder you’re tired…

how much energy do you spend every day
just trying to make your brain cooperate? 🤍

today my daughter turns 8 years old, which also marks 8 years into motherhood for me (crazy, where did all that time go!?) and here’s a party-hosting confession from me, an ADHD mom:

yes, the party is my favorite part 🎉 i love making the day for my kids. i love people being in our home. hosting is one of those things when my ADHD brain really feels alive and purposeful, and i love it.

but there’s also this: i genuinely love the very quiet moment after everyone leaves. 🤫

the countertops full of cake plates. no one needing me, because at this point even my husband knows that he takes care of bedtime those days, no questions asked. so i just have one job: cleaning up. nothing more to plan. no more decisions to make. usually happy about how the day turned out.

that specific version of peace only exists for me after a party. and i wait for it a little bit all day. even if it’s cleaning up which definitely is not my fav thing otherwise.

at the same time, this is also on the weekend’s invisible list: mentally prepping for a birthday kid whose feelings are going to be enormous. the anticipation, the overwhelm, the crash. that labor never shows up in the photos.

if you’re a mom hosting anything this weekend, i see you! tell me your secret hosting quirks in the comments. 🧡

one of the most frustrating parts of ADHD…

is knowing you CAN do something (because you did it yesterday) but today your brain just says absolutely NOT gonna happen.

it’s going from being wildly productive one day, to answering one email feeling like climbing a mountain the next…

so if you’ve been calling yourself inconsistent, unmotivated, lazy or ”bad at adulting”... please be kinder to yourself 🤍 your brain isn’t broken because it doesn’t run the same every day. it’s just part of your ADHD operating system.

what’s the most ridiculous task you’ve avoided for way longer than it deserved? tell me below.👇
